The AB raptor is an interesting design that is purpose built to be able to reflex back over your barrel to increase its volume to limits otherwise impractical.

The can mutates as the video progresses. He starts by calling it a "reflex".... it later becomes a "reflux" hehehe.
@ExpatriotSilencers
@ExpatriotSilencers 2 года назад
For those who may be interested, these "spiral" baffles originated maybe 20+ years ago in a Russian patent and was then picked up and patented by a Finnish company. Ase Utra actually made suppressors using these baffles. I have held an AU S7 suppressor in my hand and it was both very large OD and quite heavy. The reflex idea was also pioneered by a Finish company called BR Tuote. They also used different numbers of baffles in the front end of their cans and named the various models by the number of baffles. Its like AB raided the Finnish silencer playbook and jammed a few different ideas together here. The AB rimfire can with its screwed in baffles, took that idea from a silencer from the 1970's? or possibly the 1980's, which also used an internally threaded tube with the baffles screwed in. This design was documented in Al Paulson's book, "Silencer History and Performance Vol 1".

There are no spirals. They are simply welded circular baffles. A spiral would have an unbroken path or chamber. Not trying to be a nitpicker, but this claim seems pervasive that it has a "number of spirals". It has a number of circular baffles welded into a stack that is not possible to remove for maintenance. If we're being specific and critical. I think the really awesome part of this can is the "reflex adapter" design and it's flexibility in size choice to add chamber expansion space to accommodate bigger cartridge's and their higher gas volumes.

Great timing, I’ve been eyeing one of these at my local shop recently. They seem pretty awesome! Do you think there would be a huge sound difference if you were to use a .30 caliber can on a 5.56 rifle? I’m considering getting the Raptor 6 or 8 .30 caliber can. That way, if I ever get an AK or a 300 Blackout in the future, I can swap it around on all of them.

90 grain ALCO projectile with a 0.627 ballistic coefficient saboted at 3,960 fps from a custom 20.89 inch 1:7 twist chrome-molybdenum chrome-lined heavier profile longitudinally fluted cryogenically stress-relieved barreled Kel-Tec RFB would result in an OAL of 29.99 inches and 2,200 yards of range until deceleration to Mach one at standard temperature and pressure. 80% the weight of M118LR, 72-75% the recoil, 297% improved odds to hit at 1k yards. Subbing for +3 Longbow and polymer magazines, a 140 round loadout of M118LR in half pound FN-FAL steel magazines could be swapped for a 180 round loadout. 1.25 miles, 12.8 yards past two kilometers, in a 30 inch platform suitable for CQB use as well would be fun for operators with slightly less conventional requirements. Easier to manage in tightly confined spaces, small vehicles, ship boarding or whatever. You could hide it under a robe. Sir. Envision Hugh Hefner if that helps. Slippers. Whatever else that comes with. It's anybody's guess, really. Oh and ALCO's 62 grain 0.45 bc .22 caliber projectile can be loaded magazine length in .223 Remington. That'll get you a kilometer of effective range, maybe a little more depending on barrel length. But that Kel-Tec RFB would be a perfect candidate for that reflex suppressor you are kind enough to share with the group. Swedes get 2/3 MOA, 0.698 inch groups at 100 yards with their saboted 6 gram (92.6 grain) .19 caliber tungsten AP projectiles clocking 1,260 meters/second. Prolly 27 inch barrels I'm guessing. Extrapolating from that the 90 grain in 20.89 inch barrel will achieve 3,960 fps. 1:7 twist required. Might consider Ackley Improved chamber dimensions. 4,100 fps probably. Or, .338 Federal. Or .338 Federal AI. Then you could throw 253 grain Raufoss multipurpose .338 caliber slugs out to 1,000-1,100 yards. 50 round drums, Grip-Pod, US Optics 2.5-20x50mm day optic with a 34 mm tube and side focus parallax adjustment and illuminated first focal plane Christmas tree reticle weighing 815 grams measuring 14.64 inches long with a compass in the stock is recommended. Sir. Just thought I'd mention that fun idea that I haven't had time to work on for four+ years because I had to catch a bunch of corrupt high-ranking intelligence operatives that tried to kill me more than twice. Junkie fagg-ts, really. Not joking. And since I brought it up, how the f-ck are we supposed to be intimidated by not-heterosexual opiate addicts who think that they're gangster right up until it's time to get into some gangster sh-t. What is that. They don't gunfight. I've offered for sixty months now. Not a one of them. They're all like 'waaah, I have so much to live for' and 'waaah, I don't want to f-cking die'. Because my two-step plan, you see has been Step one. Find some gangster sh-t to get into Step two. Get into some gangster sh-t Brilliant execution on those reflex suppressors, sir. Read about the concept in Small Arms Review decades ago. Thanks for sharing. #Ihaveahighschooleducation 💀♠️🎯
