Ezekyle Abaddon is a misunderstood character. He is often depicted in memes as a mustache-twirling villain, prone to uncontrollable rage, or as a rage monster. This can't be further from the truth. In the Warhammer 40k Universe, I can't think of a more misunderstood character than Abaddon himself.
In the Horus Heresy novels, Abaddon is depicted as a man of action, prone to some anger, but in a measured, controlled way. He is known to battle in the way of warrior kings of old, wise, but with sure violence to succeed in his goals.
This extends to the current Indominatus era, where Abaddon has been most memed on as a joke adnosium. Often with a kernel of truth, but just like daemons, one truth for every 10 lies.

30k Abaddon is awesome i haven’t read that much myself about him in 40k yet but him in the siege books is great… love when he gets all pissed off at perty for being fooled into the saturnine gambit .. just starts going off on everyone who he perceives did him wrong lolol. And it was cool when he accepted death and preferred dying like a soldier than keeping up this warp fuckery at the time he didn’t like.

Good stuff! When I read the end and the death v3 I took it that Loken didn't rejoin the legion. He said he'd give em a head start then be right at their heels with murderous intent. I gotta go back & check it out. Great video, though, hundred percent.

No. I think Loken was saying he'd be there with them to remind them they always had the option to recant their path. If their direct goal was to be enemies of the Imperium sure Loken would fight them. But that wasn't what Abaddon said. He wasn't sure what the future of the sons was. He just knew it wasn't as a part of the Imperium at that time. Loken was fine with Abaddon finding his own path for their legion, I took it as Loken wanting to be an advisor and spiritual core. They may have become generally renegades, which is why Erebus does what he does since he knew of Chaos plans for Abaddon in the far future. Just as Argel Tal would have changed Kharns fate, so too would have Loken changed the fate of Horus and that legion.

Abby is my favorite character in 40k. At first I believed in the memes but more as I read I learned he is a interesting and mysterious character and turned to my fav. Great video!

I followed the exact same path. But if one actually reads the quite large amount of novels and codex lore he has, the memes are shown as lies and bullshit.

His story in the siege of terra series really changed how I felt about him. He really is a tragic character and his fall to chaos was....forced.

I see it as 10000 years of incompetence or the writers genuinely think it’s a W that it’s taken 10000 years for Abaddon to get even close to what Horus achieved in 12. I don’t even hate Abaddon, but man is he just not an interesting villain to me. I’d much prefer to see Lorgar expanded upon as the big bad or just literally anyone else until the scouring series starts and we get some proper extrapolation on Abaddons motives besides ‘topple the false emperor’ or something. Again no hate to him, I just need the nitty gritty details from what happened during the scouring. Also I need someone to slap the shit out of Dan Abnett for not having him Kill or maim Erebus for what he did to his legion and Loken.

These aren't really things Abbadon is actually known for. What he's known for is failure. Constant unrelenting failure. Even his successes are failures in the long run. He destroys the final necron anti-Empyrean pylon on Cadia, freeing the Eye to expand. But he does it by crashing an irreplaceable Blackstone Fortress into the planet to do the job. He's bound by horrific pacts, and he wields Drach'nyen, Echo of the First Murder not understanding the Daemon is not truly a blade and seeks host powerful enough for its ambitions and has already found Abbadon wanting, it merely aids the Warmaster so it may seek a suitable host to possess. As the Echo it is bound by its nature to betray him as the first murder was a betrayal. He's terrified by Dante's continued survival, fearing a prophecy that he will follow Horus into the same fate. By killing Dante as Horus killed Sanguinius and the dying to a representative of the Emperor while wounding them.

Mmm...not really upset. Just a observation on how a character has been essentially beheaded by the memes over time to a great degree when he is much more interesting then the caricature given.

@@thedarklightemissary8463 I understand. I'm fairly new to Warhammer, so I like Abaddon and wish there was more about him. So to me, each Black Crusade being a success works for me while I can understand why those around before the retcon are butthurt.
