This house built in the year 1900, sits in Pennsylvania. It has a lot of history from the Family that use to live in the house. The Family who lived in this house were very wealthy and also owned another house not far up the road that was recently demolished. The women who lived early use to be the illustrator of Ladies Home Journal Magazine sometime in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Her cousin was also the financier for the Civil War.This house use to have gardens and other buildings behind it but the construction of the bypass next to it caused them to no longer be there. Another family member was friends with President, Woodrow Wilson daughters. So your asking why does it look like this today, well issues with family caused them to move away and the owner of this property mpw later on moved to another state to be near his son. He put this place up as a rental property but thing went down hill from there. Tenants were stealing his goods from the attic. A lot of stuff in the gardens was auctioned off in 2007 for a lot of money and now the house sits here abandoned. It most likely went up for sale but with the highway right next to it, no one was interested. The current owner of the home still has the deed of the house on sheepskin paper. That how old it is. Special Thanks to Barb D for sharing all this great information with me. Enjoy

I recently bought a store/apartment in Pa built in 1900 the place is very huge but needs tons of work no ones lived there for many years. bought at a free and clear sale bought it unseen. I feel in love with the place it has so history. the basement is so spooky yet very interesting, kids handprints on the walls and there drawings. still trying to do research on the place. it used to be a old t.v. repair shop in one part and still has some stuff in there.

Don't you just wish you could travel back in time and see these amazing old homes in their hey day? I'm sure this one was absolutely amazing. I loved the fireplace. One room upstairs actually looked kind of tidy--as if someone had been in there recently. Great video!

the back part of the house where you see a cement foundation was an addition added on most likely in the 20th century. When I first saw this place, I though the same, this cant be that old but when Barb sent me over some pictures and gave me the complete history on the family who use to live here, it def an old house dated to the very late 18th century. Not sure if there was a fire but is smelled like one and the looks of the room seemed like it or it was the mold. Thanks for watching

Darcel Morin yes the meter is new and it was still supplying power. However the inside of the place as you saw is in terrible shape. Not sure why power is still running

What a great video!! It's wonderful you were able to film it before it's lost forever. When you wrote about the sheepskin deed it made me think of the old sheepskin deed that I have to my family's 160 acre homestead dated 1891. I also have the old hand drawn maps that show property lines from 1930.

Thanks for watching. I though the same when I visited this house, it looks nothing old from the front and back. However after talking to Barb and hearing the history of this house and seeing a picture plus some documents she found, it dates way back. The back part was an addition put on so it looks a bit newer. The main part might of had a renovation sometime in the 1900s but the property dates back to late 1700s. Take a look at my facebook. I have an old picture of the house on there.

As I am watching this again I can't help but think how beautiful this place was. That fireplace is gorgeous, It is so sad how our historical houses and sites are being destroyed. Pennsylvania is a beautiful State, and has tons of History. I think about the first family that lived and built this house, they must have been wealthy. I also noticed, was that one of those laundry shoots in the kitchen? Is that what they are called? How many floors? :-)

Wow - fantastic old house - thanks for the great tour, Steve! Kinda strange how there seemed to be a few items in that house that looked like they were within 10-15 years old, yet the rest of the house looked like it hasn't been lived in for 30+ years... Anyway, just my own wondering. Love all your vids Steve-O - keep up the fantastic work!

According to the woman who gave me the information. There was a huge garden in the back and another house used as an art studio before they came through and built a highway though the back yard in the late 1900s. No pictures of it though

It's been nigh 40 yrs since I lived in Jersey, but lotsa old homes in the original 13 colonies would make use of parts of other old homes, explaining older bits inside. My exhusband still kept a set of wooden stairs outside the barn in Maine because they were "too good to burn" but you'd never know when someone might need them... The hook thing on exterior wall may have just been a wrought iron decoration. Often an S motif, star or an eagle or a hex sign. No utility though.

Some of the interior photos looks like they were taken inside the wreck of the Titanic. Saw some comments about the potato chip can. That brand is sold here in Indiana; the cans look the one in the video. I'm guessing the one you saw isn't very old at all. Good for you for, Steve, for knowing when to go no further because of safety issues.

Thanks James. I am starting to second guess the date of this house now but I know for sure it at least very late 1700s or very very early 1800s. The outside at parts look nothing old but there a lot inside that you dont find in 1900s homes

my home was built in 1889 and LOTS of creepy history behind it.. which is why I renovated most of it.. still have to do something about my creepy upstairs hallway though. there is an old blood stain on the 1800s wallpaper. two people have died here and the house is said to be cursed. I know my health has taken a turn for the worse since I have lived here nearly a yr. I feel like something or someone torments me at night and don't sleep nights.

As far as I can tell that place still has power connected. The thing is if the new modern meters as long as they have number showing up on them there is still power. If there is power that is a scary thing considering the condition of the house.
