ABANDONED 1955 Chevy Nomad - The Car The Internet Won't Let Me Forget About!

IT'S BACK!
But first we have to finish up the 1956 Chevy wagon. The 10 bolt rear end is all rebuilt with 3.73 gears and a posi center section. The drive line should be completely bullet proof and work very well together. Unfortunately the drive shaft shop is closed and I had to order a few more brake parts before she's a driver.
What do you do when you're all out of parts? Push the car outside and bring another junker in the shop. We're gunna wrench on the 55 Nomad for a few video's. Swap rear ends, fix the brakes ect. Once its a roller again we might play with the attitude and stance on the hard top wagon....

Glad to see the Nomad back in rotation. 55 is my favorite tri five. And the Nomad is my favorite 55 My brother had one that I was the custodian of for a couple years. He had to sell it for some legal reasons and he has since passed. So,every time I see one I smile. I agree make it a nice driver.thats what his was. Trailered show cars are nice but pulling up to a gas station and the smiles for miles Definitely out weigh the 🏆 trophies

@DDSpeedShop How are you going to deal with a painted car ? You gotta wash it. Periodically polish it. Things that are just way out of the norm. Joking aside, you have put a pile of time and labor into that car. And of course, money. You're gonna be the guy at cruise night that goes around with his feather duster every 15 minutes or so.

It's hard to believe that your local auto-parts stores wouldn't have an adjuster for a '68 Camaro or equivalent. GM used that same part number up until 1984 (according to RockAuto anyway) The wipe out over the tow cable looked pretty brutal. Take care and thanks again for sharing your Garage Time with us.

OK, where to start. First, as the Hot Rod Jesus, you are awesome. 2. That fall, good technique ( not sticking your hand out and snapping fingers, wrist, and so on ) and I am glad you are not hurt. 3. I love your love of the tri-5's! I grew up across the street from a Bracket racer that ran small block(s) in a 57. My first experience in that car, freeway entrance, from a dead stop. Full on race slicks. He revved it to 6 grand and dropped the clutch. shifting from 2nd to 3rd, at speed, the slicks spun and laid a 3 foot patch on the freeway, at just over 115 miles an hour. I was 11 years old. Been hooked ever since. To keep it short, I have watched ALL of your vids after finding this channel, a year + ago. Keep doing you, you've got a good thing going.

The slip and falls or trip and falls can take the wind right out of your sail and make you want to just forget it till spring. Just take little bites till it warms up some. Thanks for gettin out there despite the weather. Still good watching. Happy New Year to you both! McDave

OUCH !!! That fall hurt , just watching it ! Damn Dan . Freefalling from 2 feet up , very cold , & NO net . Ugh . I remember when you got that Nomad . All basket , not much case , or body , no engine , trans , floors , or glass . Roof & title I believe you called it . Yup . So what we see now is ALL Dan , with a plan . Hope you had a merry Christmas , Dan & Dani ! Those bruised knees will hurt you into the New Year , buddy . The bruised ego , not so long , as you posted it . New frame , that's a story in itself , body steel , a complete floor pan , front end , rear end , engine , trans , drive shaft , & exhaust . All the new rear gate cables from the wagon you just pulled out , & then primer & roof paint . That 55 Nomad ? Ya ! That one . I'm glad to see you working on it again , Dan . She still sounds great ! I have no doubt the amount of crap you got from the "sold" comment . Judging by the fall shot you showed of Dani on ice , you both will have your bruises . Have a happy New Year , folks ! Be safe now , ya hear !

Thank you for recognizing that the fans get invested in your projects too. After many hours of watching you win so many battles with that car we feel like part of the team. The big question from everyone was what color is going to be. We saw you improve your painting skills on the roadster. Then all our anticipation was dashed when you lost interest. I get it though. After a day of work to pay the bills when you start that second job that creates the bills you got to be motivated.

I put some in a 1977 Chevy work truck C-10 with a straight 6 and 10 bolt rear end, I installed them in the early 1980s so I don't remember the name of the bearing company ...... They were a little more expensive than the standard bearing but l didn't have to buy 2 new axles !!!!!!! Love your show, you use a lot of sarcasm to lighten the mood when things don't go as planed... Hope Dani's slip and fall was not too bad! Yours at the start could have been worst too! Garage wench is a great idea I have seen you use many times! (I am thinking about getting one) Nomad sounds great! You need to get yourself some long exhaust hoses and a fan to suck out fumes then you could run your projects with the garage door closed!
