Don't Measure Just CUT! Quarter Panel Install With Nothing But HAND TOOLS - 1955 Chevy Nomad

In the last episode I installed the driver side quarter panel on my roached out 1955 Chevy Nomad. Full replacement panels were NOT cheap so I took my time installing them. The driver side went together smoothly so I figured I would do a step by step tutorial for the passenger side.
I did this in my small, home garage with nothing but basic hand tools. Vise Grips, cutting discs, grinding discs a decent welder and a little patience is all ya need. I've learnt by doing the task and watching how to videos on RU-vid. Trust me, anyone can do it!
Send me an email: dan@ddspeedshop.ca

@@DDSpeedShop that's truth ! I used to work in the family automotive parts business back in the 70,s then I would work at the service station until midnight go clean a few offices , go to school in the morning .. rinse and repeat .. you have to just push through that barrier , once that is done it gets easier ..

I like the work you do on your cars, patching, changing dashboards, mechanical adaptations and updates to the brake systems, all very cool. The expensive ones are to your liking and to your liking, and the coolest thing about it all is that you can ride and enjoy it without caring if they are show cars. Where I live, bureaucracy and traffic regulations prevent us from rebuilding such cool cars.

I have a 55 BA 2Dr HT that I got with both quarters cut off. I have bought both replacement panels and have been avoiding working on them because the task of mounting them seemed so daunting. I now feel much better about giving it a try, like you I'm doing this alone so seeing what and how you've done it gives me a better understanding of the process. Thanks for taking the time on the passenger side to film and explain what you were doing! Hopefully I have near the success you had. Great job!

Okay, you give me renewed hope and confidence. I was looking to just do a rear quarter panel patch where my bull bashed in the back area, but now I am thinking a complete new quarter panel will be the better idea. Besides, no one seems to make the wheel well back patch panels anymore for my 56 2Dr. I have been sharing your videos with my son as he is the one that will do the lions share of my project. After 50 years, this will be the last time. ;)

I had to come back to this one, just to say, nice job on the detailed explanation. It is hard when you have part of your mind on the video recording, and trying to get a job done, then to take the time to lay it out. Good on you. Replacing panels is a shifty business at best.
