Giving life and hope to a truck is wonderful. I have passion for vehicles too.my daddy had a '58 Buick supercharger and a old truck...how I miss those.

HAHA! That would have been a tough diagnosis, especially being young and inexperienced. No way to really see that with the truck in the driveway.

HAHA! I don't know why a few people are so angry about watching a guy wrench on an old truck... they clicked on the video and watched it. I sometimes find myself watching the footage while I'm editing the videos thinking "whats this guy going to do next?" And I'm the one that did all the work.

My dad found one for $500 and he bought it. He gave it to me and now I’m saving to restore it now so I can drive it as my first vehicle

Hahahaha that's the story of every used engine I have ever purchased. Spun bearings, bent valves, bad cam bearings etc. I think I've learned people don't pull good running engines out of cars

I did move it back to the factory ignition wire pretty quick. The coil was getting really hot on the 12V wire.

This also happened to a cousin of mine, who is scarred for life across his face as his parents had to slide it back on cause it was just hanging there. It’s not a joke.

Similar thing happened to my cousin ...hit em in the jaw ..he now wears a partial and has nasty scar as reminder

This comment is funny to me because I was just working my 78 f150 after months of sitting. I was taking the fan off and realized the four bolts were not tight at all. After a few years of owning it I can’t tell you how many times i gave it hell from under the hood lol, accident waiting to happen. Point is don’t do it even if you kinda know the motors past

Yeah I should have been a little more clear there. I was only checking the functionality of the points and condenser at that point to see if they were triggering the coil. The coil firing the plug was the pass / fair criteria for that test.

yeah lots of bad noises from the front axle that need to be addressed.

Good tip, I have to assume they were changed in the past... and I assumed someone put it all back how they found it. Hows that saying go.... "when you assume...?"

I measured the stroke with a small piece of metal in the spark plug hole, recently... and its just a 360

Man, I had a 74 f100 it had a 390 but had a 2 barrel, had dual exhaust with glass packs, sounded cool, wish I still had it !

@Terry Melvin I had bought that truck in 1977 from my uncle, he was into fixing up cars, he probably put in the 390 !

Check out the other videos on the channel, I rebuilt that engine and transformed it into a warmed up 390, it turned out to be a really strong and fun engine!

Cicadas

you get used to them down here in the south. after a while it is actually spooky to not hear them when you're in the woods. After all any forested area that does not have some noise is an indication that something is making the wild life cower in silence, and if wasn't you up to that point, its something else. I live not even 15 minutes from a small city, and only an hour from A major urban area, but i have seen feral hogs, coyotes and even a very large cat or two in this area.

@@scottjackson1636 we have them up here in MN as well (only in the summer obviously) but man they are noisy

@@yoshuaposhua25 Same here in Texas. When they stop and the birds go silent, I start watching the trees. For some reason I have this fear of a cougar just dropping on my back while I am out hunting.
