Dad and me pick up this 1962 Cadillac sedan deville 200 miles away in New Mexico, it hasn’t ran on over 30 years. Can we get it going again?

I’m 69 now and the only thing I can remember about my dad was he would take me to work with him every now and then and he was a plumber and we would go to the naval station and go fishing. My dad died of cancer when I was just 10 years old and so I love watching you and your pop working together and I daydream about my pop.

Another early-60s "spaceship on wheels" dream machine. look at that rear view! What a beautiful work of art! My local mechanic is lucky enough to own one of these fully restored and sitting on big billet rollers. Thanks for rescuing this beauty.

I’ve stuck the head of a torch down each cylinder before and heated piston up to expand them so rings release from piston grooves. Then dumped acetone n mystery oil on top of piston. Went from 15psi to 110psi. Maybe it will work for you. Luv ❤❤❤❤ the videos. You don’t know how lucky you are to have such a cool and smart dad. And you’re one smart cookie too. You have great content. I never miss a video. Can’t wait for next one.

Travis, you had my attention THE ENTIRE video without a fast forward, and I am a busy guy. I absolutely love what you did here with this 1962. I have a 1962 Coupe Deville - purchased from Detroit just last October 2023. I can totally relate to the things you are doing here - although mine is like new by comparison. Anyone else get goosebumps when he showed the rear right turn signal lights working? Or hearing the radio still work? What a wiring mess for that door jamb. Love the channel, love the car, and your Dad is right - the reason it ran so well is he did the carb. :)

Go ahead and delete this if you think it's inappropriate, but your finding all the doo-dads working reminded me of a fellow who parked his Sedan Deville at a parking meter and took his change out of his pocket to find a quarter. He had just left the country club, and he also fished up a few golf tees. An old lady saw all this, and asked "Excuse me sir, but what are those wooden things?" He replied "That's what you put your balls on when you drive." The lady replied "My gosh, what will the Cadillac people think of next?""

Hey Trav, this is actually a Sedan de Ville. You called it a Coupe de Ville. The Coupe version has just two doors. Ysll do a GREAT job putting in the work and sharing everything that it takes to accomplish such amazing results! So, thank you both!!!

At the beginning, you said twice that it’s a Cadillac coupe Deville. That is very clearly a sedan Deville. My grandfather had a 1962 black Cadillac sedan Deville right out of the showroom. I still remember the first time I saw him and my grandmother drive to my parents house in that brand new shiny Cadillac.

Travis, So enjoyed watching your skills at work with your father. I am 70 and use to do some of this type of work in my teens until my early 20s on cars from the 60s. I understand some of what you take time to explain. Magic of you and your father together makes this priceless. The 62 Caddy is great, 59 with out floor boards and engine reaclaced is classic example of your team. Joe from Smyrna Delaware that appreciates the world you and your father have built.

Hey Travis, in the mid 1980’s I traveled to the South West. Lived and Partied in Flagstaff and went all over including Silver City Albuquerque Demming the land of Many Churches. It was not over populated then and was really cool. Great Memories and I met a girl there also we had fun but nothing really came of it. Sooo honestly I love watching your videos it reminds me of the old days. Thanks 🙏

Keep it up i share your sickness with these old gems. Tell your pops hello too. My son and I spoke with him at the Duct tape drags last year you’re just like my old man and myself were. I was lucky to be a Canadian teenager in the late 80s that had the chance to travel to Palm Springs CA for a few weeks once a year, there were so many late 50s and early 60s Cadliliacs for sale in premium condition for extremely reasonable prices. Nice save on yours!

Your comment about the EPA banning anything that works is so true. I experienced this last year when I tried using aircraft paint remover to strip layers of primer off my truck to get to the original paint underneath. Didn’t work at all. Turns out, the paint stripping chemical, methylene chloride, was banned by the EPA, so paint stripper doesn’t have paint stripper in it anymore.

The last year of the fins. We had a 1961 Coupe DeVille . Had larger fins. The only difference. Cars out west just last longer. In the dry climate.Love watching you and your Dad working on this old Iron. You’re so right about parts houses like Auto Zone. Congratulations on the start. Those rings and lifter’s and any sticky Valves will work back in. Surprisingly got all the windows working. Loved the video. ❤️💯👊👍

It is amazing how many people on RU-vid are able to find old cars that they can get running again with only fresh gas, fluids, carb rebuild, and a tune up. I have been building old cars since the early 80's, and some where like that, but most where not. usually the engine or transmission was completely blown up and needed replace.

That 62 is a great find... I love the body style ... The "fin" craze was winding down on most G.M. auto's but Cadillac kept the fins for a couple decades .. The 62 , in my opinion , has the perfect body lines... And thats the yr I was born...!😊

Another huge score. The tritone patina & paint is perfect, love the surface rust, white and orangish red combo. The whitewalls are even a great size, whitewalls and steelies are the best combo. What a beautiful car love the fins. Radiator cap is such a cool time capsule piece. I knew she’d run. Never seen power wing windows, incredible that the windows work too. Man I wouldn’t be able to part with this one…also thanks for including the rebuild of that fancy brake booster that was my introduction to them. Good car find in Nevada I mean New Mexico

I remember those hot Arizona summers. It was flat miserable when you had to work on a car that had been parked in the sun any amount of time. You couldn’t touch anything metal without scorching yourself. Even after you drag them in the shade you had to wait a couple of hours for things to cool down.
