We check to see if the engines on the abandoned airplane have any compression and see why the mags are giving us fits. Like I say it is always something. Join us as we try to get this abandoned Baron B55 back in the air after sitting for 14 years. Please Subscribe
Don't for get to check out the video on the abandoned Cessna 182 Sky Lane. Both airplanes where owned by the same owner and sat at the airport for 14 years. These planes where destined for the scrap yard. Thankfully I was able to purchase these planes and rescue them from the scrap yard (hopefully). I am a combination of Jimmy's World and Rebuild rescue. If you haven't seen their videos please check them out. This journey is just beginning.

Your videos restoring this bull of the airways makes my heart smile. Who doesn't love twin screws... besides the bank account

Your compressor/generator makes too much noise. I enjoy this type of video. Next time, park your truck headed towards the plane, so the engine noise is reflected away from your mics.

You are correct. I didn't think about the air compressor being so loud on the video when we where working. I have a couple of mics ordered for the next video.

WHO lets such an expensive asset just sit and rot? That's pretty stupid 😳 Glad your rescuing this plane!

Check out the first video I did of Saving the Cessna 182. I talk about the guy that owned these two planes. Basically he used the for business then got to old to fly them. He has plenty of money so never missed it.

So, are you hoping the right engine comes up after running again? By last time, did he mean the numbers came up 14 years ago after running and getting it hot, meaning this engine had low compression over 14 years ago. I didn’t see where you said how many hours were on the right engine? Anyhow, great video and thanks!
@Daybreakaviation
@Daybreakaviation Год назад
Yes that is correct, they had low compression numbers 14 years ago then they did a 1 hour ground run and the numbers came up in the 70s we are hoping the same will be true for us.

How does anyone just forget they owned a Beach Baron for over 14 years? It doesn't make financial sense to just let it sit unused year after year. Why would they do that? Are you the guys that run the FBO at Gad, KGAD? Back in the 80's I flew out of there for many years.
@Daybreakaviation
@Daybreakaviation Год назад
He had plenty of money and he just stopped flying them because of his age. We do not run the FBO but do fly out of there. The Baron was flown out of KGAD back in the late 80s, and into the 90s.

Let's have a little look see in the cylinders at the valves and pistons with a camera. Maybe a little acetone soaking, then either startup is just what the doctor ordered? 🌏🇭🇲

I show some of the borescope video on next engine run. The last time they did a compression check they had to run the engine for over an hour to get the compressions up. We will do the same now the mags are checked and timed.

42,48,28- what's normal ??Time for the borescope......plugs(right engine)all look mostly fuel fouled.

When it comes to numbers Continental engines are not as dead on as the Lycoming engines. You start at 80 psi. The closer you are to that number the tighter the cylinder is. There is a formula for Ambient air temp to get the desired number for the day. Also, we need to run the engine longer and recheck the compressions.

@@Daybreakaviation do you have the engine logs- 28(other than stuck rings) probably won't get much better...... 520-heavy case ?? Haven't there been instances of crankshaft breakage...... sounds like a lot of work, only to result in a rebuild. Good luck !!

Where do you find these abandoned relics? Thanks

I happened to find both of these airplanes at the same airport. Just look for planes with flat tires.

The right engine has 643 since over haul and the left is 273 since over haul.

i would run that engine hard for about at least 6 hours and then do a compression check .
@Daybreakaviation
@Daybreakaviation Год назад
That is what they did 14 years ago. We will ground run it for a couple of hours then recheck the compressions. I believe they will come up
