I am a pilot and firefighter. I found two planes that where destined for the Scrap yard. These planes haven't flown in 14 years. I tracked down the owner and made a deal to save the planes, Join me on the adventure of putting these two great airplanes back in the air. Will it FLY after sitting for 14 years.
Don't for get to check out the video on the abandoned airplane a 1979 Baron B55. Both airplanes where owned by the same owner and sat at the airport for 14 years. These planes where destined for the scrap yard. Thankfully I was able to purchase these planes and rescue them from the scrap yard (hopefully). I am a combination of Jimmy's World and Rebuild rescue. If you haven't seen their videos please check them out. This journey is just beginning.

The work is fascinating. The background music just takes away from the dialogue.

I’m loving this channel because of how abandoned airplanes are setting tied down and the 182 is my favorite aircraft ever manufactured by Cessna . Like to be working with you on this project. Keep up the amazing work

Wow, you really undersold how much work you put into it in order to get a 15yr old out of annual plane flying. Yeah, the paint is in great shape but cosmetics aside, that's still a lot of work/risk buying it.

Looks like you repaired all the holes in the cowling and painted and cleaned that up too. Looks nice!
@Daybreakaviation
@Daybreakaviation Год назад
Unfortunately I had to buy a used cowling. Thankfully it was already painted and ready to put on the airplane

This reminds me of a problem I had with a sump on a C172 after checking the fuel. Some time after sumping I noticed a small puddle on the ground with drops of fuel coming from sump now and then. The valve in the sump most probably got stuck so I put the tester into the sump again, pushed it in a few times and this made it even worse - fuel started flowing out. I ended up standing there on the apron and covering the hole with a finger for more than half an hour until they found an empty barrel for the fuel (there was 25gal of fuel in that tank). Luckily this didn't happen mid flight on a long cross country flight.

Oh that stinks having to hold your finger there for that long. Glad it was an easy fix though.

My first cross country was to Gadsden Al if that is where you were. Never finished my private pilot though. I need to start back.

KGAD, you definitely need to start back flying awesome. No time like the present. Good luck

I am an A&P and 36 year 68 182 owner I always replace all the tape as the fuel softens the glue and the new cell will be in there about 20 years you do not want to do this again. Also there is a plastic vent tube inside the balder which some times does not get reinstalled. My big concern would be the engine camshaft, lifters and cylinders. I think You will have to overhaul it.

any tips on how I could find a C182 in similar situation? I'd love to do the same thing.
@Daybreakaviation
@Daybreakaviation Год назад
Go to local airports and ask the fbo if they know of any planes sitting around.

@Daybreakaviation

Agreed, we changed one bladder now I will be replacing the second one. Stay tuned for more videos on the 182 project.
@roywadsworth4452
@roywadsworth4452 Год назад
thank you for answering my prompt if you are changing out the 2 blade for 3 blade i would chang the CON I0470 to a LYC I0540 as well as installing VG on the plane and stol kit

Lol can I have some money for the new engine. But yes that would be awesome to have more ponies under the cowl.

What did you pay for the plane and how much do you expect to pay to complete the project
@Daybreakaviation
@Daybreakaviation Год назад
I am estimating around 70,000 when done. That includes the new instruments.
