Abandoned Fresh Prince of Bel Air style mansion in the woods. Explore #53
Canada
I was told that this mansion was last owned by a doctor. I'm glad I had a chance to explore this abandoned mansion before it will be gone forever. A developer bought up the land and will sever the property into 3. They will demolish this house and will likely build 3 mansions in its place. This mansion has been abandoned for approx. 2 years and is decaying very quickly. I was told after exploring this house it was built in 1896! So I was a little off thinking it was built in the 40’s. This house has 7 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, 2 kitchens and an in ground pool. I did not film the basement as it was empty and not exciting.
Thank you Ethan and Allan for hooking me up with this location.

About me:
I have been exploring abandoned places since I was a child and now I would like to film the explores and share the videos with you.
My father took me to my first abandoned house when I was 7 years old. I remember going into the house and a old farmer came in and told us "we better watch out as the floors are all rotten and unsafe". Ever since that day I was hooked on exploring abandoned places.
If you have a location you would like to share with me or want me to explore for you please send me an email at abandonedurbexcanada@hotmail.com and I will give you full credit for the share in the description and during the video if you choose.

My Dad and uncles grew up in that house. My younger uncle would have a fit about something over dinner, run out of the dining room, invariably, slip on the stair runner, which would make him more irate, run up the stairs, into his bedroom, directly above, slam the door, my grandfather would lose it, and my Dad and older uncle would be in fits of laughter. They moved there in ‘48, and my grandparents sold it about 17 or 18 years later. It was a red brick Georgian style house in their day.

THIS HOUSE is entirely salvageable. it could be renovated back to its former glory and made even better with rooms that size! Can you imagine what you could do with that size of kitchen?!! id buy it for an auction price of say 300 grand.l Put another 5, 600 grand into it, and bring it back to its former glory and even better!. Can you imagine what you could do with a kitchen that size!?? wow! spend a million buying and renovating it, and end up with a property worth 6 million in 5 years, especially with great landscaping and gardens etc. absolutely. maybe even a stable for horses on the property....

The main floor seem to have more damage than upstairs I'm thinking the radiator pipes burst and caused the damage to the floors. Did you know radiant heat is actually more efficient than forced air, but I noticed this house was upgraded with some forced, most likely for AC, but I did see a gas line so they were using it for secondary heat as well. One thing I find weird here in Canada, when houses do get bought out by Developers they leave the pools open and uncovered you would think due to liability they would fill them in with dirt or build wooden covers over them, I know with bank-owned properties they do cover them.
@AbandonedUrbexCanada
@AbandonedUrbexCanada 4 года назад
Yes I think the water damage was from the radiant heaters. Yes it is more efficient and costs less. I have seen some pools covered with wood but ya you would think they would cover them up

Playroom at 15:34. Exhaust vents shows at 15:42. I don't think the roof is leaking. House has a good roof on it. In the downstairs, moisture from open doors & windows has caused the vast majority of damage. House very salvageable.

What I could not get over is the Up Stairs look so much better then the down stairs did. No water damage at all up on the 2ed floor. Looks like the place could even be restored. The Down stairs door frame looked to be most shot but none of that up stairs. Great Video, I think they should fix it up as 90% of it looks so good yet.

this is a typical turn of the century mansion layout. The smaller back stairway was for the house staff. In these homes the staff lived in the attic (the rooms would have been shared) and the stairways allowed them to move about the home without passing through the public areas of the home. The apartment above the garage was for the chauffer

Such a stately manor. I can imagine that many years ago it was a beautiful home. I wonder what the backstory is on that place. The kitchen appliances and washing machine don't look all that old but the peeling paint and buckled hardwood flooring give it away that the place has been vacant for quite some time. My family lived in a house once that had one of those upside down funnel shaped fireplaces. Ours was black and I always thought it was cool with it's exposed pipe. Great house, sad to see it like that.

I appears the water that is destroying the insides is coming from the heating system. If the power was left on and there were a leak, the make up water on the boiler would keep filling the heating pipes. The damage does not seem like it's coming from the roof. Abject loneliness, I can't help but imagine; how could there be 'closeness' in so much space? And not bearing the thought of leaving there, even when mobility became a challenge . . . The book that you picked up, off the floor, & showed on camera -- It's a story of yet another historical & enigmatic man; THAT story is at least on paper ;) You are the best, Brent--YOU are awesome!!! xoxoxo from Milwaukee

Someone help me understand. When he goes down the second staircase on his way down from the 3rd floor, and he sees the little door at 16:50, first of all he feels the bottom part and says “sponges” (but it looks like something bubble wrapped). Second of all, the top part looks like a “Fedex” package. What am I missing. Those are big deals in a video like this 😅😅😳😳

@jamesgreg5542
@jamesgreg5542 4 года назад
@@bradhampton6457 I think it's caused by the steam radiator heat. In this type system, pipes run up and through all the walls to upper floor radiators from the boiler in the basement. If left without heat in winter months, pipes burst (ie: buckled floors) and water then runs down the inside of walls to lower floor from above. Trapped for months, decay begins and mold sets up. A very dangerous situation brought on by leaks/breaks in the pipes that run water up to upper level floors. Water always seeks lowest level, so there ya go. It was so localized there in the foyer and didn't see any other damage that may have been caused by leaky roof, so it's my assumption the pipes carrying water to the radiators broke there in the foyer area was the cause of the mold and damage. That's caused from being deserted for periods of time during winter months. SO SAD!!!

Fascinating explore. Amazing how much work building and designing a house like that, all to be leveled. Wonder if they'll salvage the old doors. Can see why it has to be demolished, not just the mold and water damage, radiator pipes were poorly maintained. The overall flow of the house is a cluster. The entire downstairs lacks flow, the kitchen at 3:42, the room at 7:38 with the buckled floors, that a living room or bedroom? Incredible impressive house, but dated and beyond repair. Thanks for sharing!

As the homeless sheltors are flooded with too many homeless people, why not renovate these old structures as new homeless sheltors.
@thecatatemyhomework
@thecatatemyhomework 3 года назад
Are you willing for your tax money to go to that? It could easily cost a million dollars to renovate it. Why should the homeless be living in more luxury than most people?
@patricksaxon3983
@patricksaxon3983 3 года назад
@@thecatatemyhomework Yes, I prefer my taxes go to renovate a house for the homeless than those sitting on a couch, on welfare. So much of our taxes are waisted on foreign aid to nations that do not like Americans. So yes, anything to help the homeless get back up on their feet is a good investment.

The 3rd floor is servants quarters and nursery/playroom. The nannies would keep the children occupied while the parents entertained heads of state or conducted business or just wishing to separate 'adult' time form 'parent' time. The stairs accessing this floor plus the other floors allowed the servants to remain relatively unseen as they went about the business of running the household. The quarters over the garage would have housed the chauffer and groundskeeper. This was all very proper for the wealthy throughout the 19th and early 20th century. As far as the age of this home? Late 1800s -1920s. The giveaway is the electrical receptacles mounted in the baseboards. Houses were being converted from gas-lighting to electric as well as fitted for the 'new electrical' appliances of the early 20th century. Wiring was hidden behind baseboards rather than disturb the plaster and lathe.

Wow Beautiful mansion you filmed there! Luv the mid century mod 'Malm Baron' fireplace. I would guess this one may have been an early to mid 1950's build. No expense spared when this one was built, lots of mirrors, closet space, built-in shelving and the cast iron hot water radiators were expensive. I am guessing that at 4:40 that it is a wall incinerator don't know? The space above the garage was pristine! You did a fabulous job in filming this Great location!!
