ABANDONED Holy Land Experience Orlando

I had a very rare opportunity to see inside the Holy Land Experience in Orlando. It was a religious theme park just outside the main “theme park area” by Disney and Universal. My guess is the distance to the park made it a hard sell for tourists with limited time to see all the offerings in Orlando. It was still cool to see this park before it is torn down to make room for Advent Health Offices.

Did you ever go here? If so what did you think of the park, and how do you feel about the closing?

No, I didn't go there. I've seen ads on the TBN website about it.

The place you were not sure of was what used to be called Cristus Gardens. (the shipping department back in the early days) Cristus Gardens was actually a wax museum telling the story of Jesus from birth to second coming. It was brought to Holy Land from an attraction in Gatlinburg. The second area you asked about with the gold walls 4:23 and following was wardrobe department. (offices back in the early days) Was an employee there from the time it opened until it closed. Kind of a sad thing to see it in its present condition. But thanks for posting.

Im so sad that the model of Jerusalem wasn’t conserved and left behind to be ruined.

They definitely should have taken that somewhere else. I was surprised it was left completely damaged. I was never there when the park was open but I would have imagined that the model of Jerusalem was really cool to see assembled.

Thanks for the video. Needed the video for memory where things are. I have been the other lately. I am doing lots of the demolition. Many things are going to be good use if anyone was wondering.

Yea that’s why I was there. We were pulling some fencing for a church camp in north Florida. I’m glad that most of the things were given to organizations that can use them.

I was sent there for work. I just recorded a few things while I had a break in the job. Not sure who you’d contact to get to go in.

When did they close? Pre or post covid?

They had financial problems long before the pandemic. Though I think the pandemic was the final straw that made them close. They ended up selling the property and everything inside to Advent Health.

Interesting. I worked there for a few years until 2014. Too bad you did not get to go into the Church of All Nations (the colosseum looking building)

I wanted to go in there. I believe that they were removing asbestos from that building before an eventual demolition.

Construction crews were still working. They had a crew removing asbestos from another building and the building I went inside was where the bathrooms for the crews working was located.

Bankruptcy, sold to a hospital and they are putting in medical offices.

It is not abandoned. It was sold to a healthcare company.

Advent Health owns the property. They are planning to demolish the existing buildings and open a new complex of health offices I believe. Not sure when they are going to actually start demolition but I imagine it will be soon.

It used to be a pleasant place to take my students for a field trip. Then TBN took it over and it was gaudy and over the top. They were just getting back to a less sensational approach when they were forced to sell. It is sad to see the condition and ruin of it.
