Yeah, especially when it comes to houses like this one with all the belongings left behind, laying intact, the opposite of public places that usually end up ransacked and vandalized from top to bottom.

It's strange how life is, we live it bound to all of these earthly things that only are to be left behind, with no more purpose to them; when they used to mean so much. I look at the stuff I have and what other people I know have, and think how it's all going to be pretty much junk after we're gone. But, some of our things will tell the story, give hints about how we suffered, lived, our interests, age, etc..Life; it's here and then gone so fast.

I just started watching all the abandoned home videos on youtube.This is the only channel I subscribed to simply because of the respect Lesley has for the personal belongings of the people that once occupied these homes. As well how he is so passionate in guiding us through a time capsule while he explains in detail never rushing to create a story of life that was once there.The music always tasteful ,the cameraman (sorry don't know his name) so professional with a slow steady guide throughout the entire tour. So sad reminds me of when I go into estates purchasing items from clothing to light fixtures,lamps,costume jewelry etc most of the time dealing with their children or family members,real estate agents etc.Not all the the time but enough it's so sad when I enter a home of an elderly person which is a complete mess from no food in the refrigerator,mouse droppings etc almost looking abandoned like in this video .Big difference though most times only a week to a month since they have passed or placed in a hospital and when I arrive whomever is there to collect$$$ was a family member that totally neglected.

My husband grew up in a very tiny 1 bedroom and a very small room made into another bedroom home. The kitchen had a sink with small sink board, fridge, stove and small table set. His parents raised 6 children and 2 Native American children who had no home (no system yet for abandon Native American children). All the children turned into stable happy adults. We know of families now that have 5 and 6 children living in tiny old travel trailers. Enjoyed the explore, beautiful hand crochet work that the lady may have done. Thank you for sharing!

@wilmab4120
@wilmab4120 5 лет назад
You also have to take into consideration that she was about 90 when she died, which would mean that her kids were also pretty old. At their age a lot of people want to get rid of stuff they don't need so that the can move to a smaller and more managable place. Everyone does not have space to save all the belongings, who knows they might have taken stuff they wanted but we wouldn't notice that.

I agree with you Jory I have seen some other videos with the person looking with little respect but it did seem that the place was explored with respect and left things as they were found. So sad that out of 6 children which is a pretty large family that family members have not cleared the house and sold it on. To just leave it empty and full of personal belongings I find really strange. Life can throw curve balls though and families are never simple in my experience. I have had my fair share of clearing relatives houses after they have passed away and it is not an easy or pleasurable job but one I have done a few times with the utmost respect and care.

Rhonda Zambernardi sometimes depending on the age of everyone, some children may have passed, some may live far away, some may not be physically and or financially able to move or pay some to remove the items but most times it is a dispute between the children. Children just don't want to keep things now-a-days. I've keep and collected so many beautiful things over the years and now find myself in the process of evacuating my (over 100 year old) home by truck loads of boxes because family just isn't interested in holding onto any of it. Only people interested are dealers and collectors. It makes me sad. Family isn't even interested in old photos. I hate to allow strangers to go through cherished items, but then again it's just "things" and the memories and people are what is important. Leaving the homes "as is" is almost like a tribute to the person. I like it in a way, especially when respect is shown as "Bros Of Decay" always show in their videos. Much appreciated guys!

When he mentioned the agenda was from "two years after the war" it sort of donned on me that a Belgian woman who was 90 years old in 1995 would have been old enough to have seen her country ravished by BOTH World Wars. I can't help but wonder what her and her family did in each one.

There's an old saying that says there is no dignity in death. We have no choice in how and when we die but we do have a choice in how we live. We will all leave possessions to rot and decay, this is natural. What matters is the legacy that we leave behind. Mother Teresa left only a basin and the shroud that she died in but oh my what a legacy.

In the US if the home is owned it just sits until the taxes get very delinquent and then the government may ignore it if it is not worth much or spend years in legal limbo. Even foreclosed homes can sit for years because the bank is not motivated to do anything with it.

I wonder why her children didn't save some of her stuff? Maybe they have all moved to another country. Much of my family is in UK, Australia and USA, so I would be hard to go and take some of those items. I love the china hutch. My fav is the respect you show to the people's home. Blessings to you.Great work.
