This is the first video in a series documenting the renovation of an abandoned bungalow in the west of Ireland.
This video shows the condition the house was in after being abandoned for 15 years.
The house was structurally sound but in poor condition.
I will put up 2 videos a week showing the journey from abandoned house to our family home. We have also been fixing up the garden and creating a mini homestead.
Follow along to see our progress each week.

Congratulations...a most beautiful style of house. We bought a derelect house ( 37 years abandoned) up in inishowen donegal during covid. Hard work but we never thought we made wrong decision. So we look forward to watching your videos on turning that house into a home. ❤ N & E

Fair play to you. That takes a lot of guts. Would be interested in the costs of purchase, materials, licences any help from grants etc. Also hoping the other videos are filmed in landscape so they can be seen on a computer / tv instead of just a phone. Best of luck! 🙏🌍🌱

Hi, I will mention rough materials costs for each stage. We unfortunately started the renovation prior to the grants being announced, we also completed 90% of the works ourselves so we wouldn't have been able to provide work invoices to the local council to be reimbursed. The videos will be a bit of a mixture of landscape and portrait videos as they were taken on phones as works were completed.

Really looking forward to seeing this. Its something i have really wanted to do but never really know where to start and i'd also need the funds which i dont think im close to yet. It'd be great to know what sort of figures you were working with to gain a rough idea of where you started.

Hi, I will try give a rough idea of costs and timeframe for each task we complete in the individual videos. As we completed 90% of the work ourselves we saved massively on labour. I purchased some items second hand and refurbished them, waited for sales and negotiated on the big items where possible.

We are Irish, so I don't understand the point of this statement.

Did you guys gor for the vacant/derelict property grant? If so do you mind me asking which county council and if you found it difficult?

Hi, we started our renovation before it came out so we unfortunately were not eligible. 90% of the work we did ourselves so we saved money that way, the process just took much longer. The grant would have been brilliant.
