All of this beautiful history lost in time. If these are never to be restored, someone should protect all these artifacts. Even the doors and hardware are treasures.

@@janetfranklin2223 Italy doesn't have a homeless problem. Families live together and they leave no one outside. This is one of the questions the rest of the world has about us. Why we don't care for our own and why we have old folks homes for our parents.

@@janetfranklin2223 I wouldn’t let homeless people live there. They would trash it even more. Haven’t you seen how homeless people live? They trash everything. They have no respect for themselves or others.

@@janetfranklin2223 As I've said in many conversations when it has to do with a homeless people. There are hundreds of old world War II army camps that have been closed or partially closed. As you can imagine these camps recruited thousands upon thousands of young lads and if you knew anything about world War II it was huge. Each of these camps can house thousands of homeless people and can be ran as a town within themselves as a society. These army camps have everything that civilians enjoy in life. The only difference was you wore a uniform otherwise..... It's up to the politicians

Homes stay in the family names and stay in the family in Italy it's based on old Roman law! Now if the USA did this it eliminate homelessness because you always have a home to go to! Real estate laws are different there! Families lived longer in Italy Some people their homes have been in the family for hundreds of years some people get old and are the last ones like me I was born late and all the original family has passed away a long time ago So you find yourself alone ! So it's this way for a reason you always have a home to come to even though it maybe old and the land is there it's still your home !

Another extraordinary visit, Lesley - amazing! As always, very respectfully presented, thank you! A couple of observations, if it helps. The first floor is the owner's accommodation (the 'piano nobile' in Italian); the end room was a Study, not a bedroom, with the small day-bed for siestas - you can see all the faded marks on the walls where the pictures used to hang. The Ground floor rooms would have been used for entertaining family/guests, with direct garden access. Interesting to see St George & the Dragon carved in several places, along with the winged horse, Pegasus. Down in the kitchen area, the built-in cupboards with metal grilles were not for keeping oven-ready animals/birds in, they were to keep food fresh, cool, and free of flies. The main Bedrooms had single beds, quite normal: it gets hot in Italy! In the wardrobe cupboard - they were not umbrellas, they were 'parasols' (sun shades). The floor above were all children's rooms, with single beds and children's pictures & paintings. The document referring to 'banca' was from a now busted Italian bank linked to the Vatican. Interesting possible link to the family who owned this property, perhaps - maybe someone could do some research? Let's keep the story going . . . .

Banco Ambrosiano was an Italian bank that collapsed in 1982. At the center of the bank's failure was its chairman, Roberto Calvi, and his membership in the illegal former Masonic Lodge Propaganda Due. The Institute for the Works of Religion, commonly known as the Vatican Bank, was Banco Ambrosiano's main shareholder. 👍

You are truly a gifted documentary film producer, and you should have your own television series! Although, that said, i would hate to have anyone try to change anything about how you work ! One last note, when you made the comment about the dining room, and said they "...probably sat around the table and talked to each other about their day..." Couldn't decide, what to comment on, so I decided to just sit back and enjoy the visuals of it's beauty. That newspaper from 1903, explains the G. Schwechten Piano design, with the candlestick holders on the side goes back to 1901. G. schwechten Company have been fabricating their pianos since 1853. Thank you for the history and forgotten visuals.💕

When chairs are arranged in rows, sometimes it was for a wake or funeral and the last time the home was used. It makes me sad. The people sitting around and talking about the one who died. Now it is a museum

Hi Lesley, Bros of Decay, This was an absolutely breathtaking explore in that wonderful Italian palace. - I especially loved the incredibly ornate ceilings with the wonderful pictures. In some rooms, like one of the living rooms, there was also so beautiful furniture in the late 19th century neo-rokoko style visible. In another room there was that mural, which made me nearly speechless, - so unbelievably beautiful! - I also liked your concept very much, how you organized your tour through this palace with this "three course meal", consisting of a starter, main course and desert, because in this way you managed to built up the excitement to follow you through all these rooms, preparing one surprise after the other. - Lesley, what shall I say? - You are amazing me every time more and more! - How great is that?!? Absolutely great explore, dear Lesley! - But, when have you actually been there, and where was your brother Jordy? You seemed to be alone in this location. - However I am again already looking forward to your next explore adventure. - In the meanwhile I am wishing you much fun with Danny, - and Maureno, who must be arriving very soon by now in Portugal to join you both. - Take care, dear friends, and stay safe! - Lots of blessings, peace and kindest regards.

17:25 "Press the apples with the machine ("torchio") and get the sidro. Put it into the jugs ("damigiane"). Leave it 4 or 5 days and then filter it carefully ("attenzione") leaving the sediment on the bottom of the jugs". Then it speaks of alcohol percentage and sugar. It's the recipe of the cider. Sweet memories. Bellissimo video!

OMG!!! Absolutely gorgeous!!! Makes me sooo sad that the family didn’t take time to come, go through all of this for pictures & mementos of their family 😔 The wood furniture, door casings as well as the phenomenal ceilings & floor tiles were irreplaceable 😔 All of the priceless dishes & momentous items that this palace contained. It breaks my heart that it is going to the elements😞 Thank you sooo very much for taking us on this magnificent adventure with you!!! Without you, we would never have gotten to experience this wonderful property! I love you for sharing this beautiful, epic adventure, you guys are amazing ❤️

It's possible partly superstition when someone passed they left it the way it was when they passed usually the door gets locked up forever! Notice the older pictures of Family in the older side of the house? Still old Roman belief is still around pre Christan old religion especially in more southern areas My family Included ! Someone passed the next born child inherits the name !

@@jilldavis7229 My Family home is there and now that I am older I'm planning to live there So see there's a permanent home always if a member of the family needs it unlike the USA I'm so glad that the old Roman law is still in use for thousands of years It stays in the family! My boyfriend's mom is from Sicily and she passed away three years ago they immediately locked the door of her bedroom nobody is allowed to go in there ever again it's based out of beliefs from old Roman times when they were into believing the old religions and superstitions it's like the person is still there in the house and my boyfriend and his sister still talk to their mother in the house like she's still there I wasn't raised this way in an Italian family this is mostly Southern beliefs but in some Northern Italians do believe it and practice it if you look where he's walking and you look on all the dressers and you see the old pictures those are old ants and uncles and Grandma and Grandpa's from the 1800s and they were living on that side of the house and they just never took care of it notice the difference between one side of the house where the lady was living and the older side were the older relatives were living big difference the pictures tell it all

I will be very appreciative to find what my family may still have in the house and have a connection with my great-grandparents and my great-uncles and aunts I just hope what was supposed to be there is still there this is why it isn't going to go to waste and you shouldn't feel bad about it but I will be very appreciative and feel at home my ancestral home this is why it's important to not feel bad about all this wasting to the Italians it's their life everything they worked for if it rots it rots it's their choice but it's I hope that everything is the way it was left and the way my grandfather told me it was left and one of the biggest treasures that he said was there when he left is still there that's important that's part of family and that's why again nobody should feel bad or whatever they're feeling just because they'd like to have that furniture they have to understand that's not theirs in the first place and then it could mean something to somebody in that family that permanently owns that land by Italian law

Wow, the antique bedroom set in that powder blue bedroom blew my socks off! How GORGEOUS! I live on the West Coast of the USA, where the oldest home in our state wasn't built until the mid 1800's. Antique sets are difficult to find here, and when you do, they usually cost over a thousand dollars. The carved intricacy and beauty of that set was outstanding, and I truly appreciate being able to see it, made my day! You and your associates do a fabulous job of presenting these places and you're efforts are truly appreciated. ❤️ Keep up your outstanding work!

I've watched 4 or 5 of your videos so far and this is the first place that actually has any STYLE as well as genuine craftsmanship. You might want to get hold of a furniture guide and learn some of the basic names of furniture - like the "settee" described as made out of "shares" which by now I KNOW you are aware are pronounced CH(AIRS). If you're going to do this repeat guided tour, repeating the same words and descriptions over and over with every house you visit, you may as well get it right. I love that you respect the property even in its abandoned state, and that you take precautions and watch where you step, and how you enter and leave. A shame that - as you pointed out, woodworm have already begun destroying what is there, and that what we are seeing will not remain in such good condition for much longer. Thanks, for the opportunity to see it before it disappears, forever.
