The house is 50 years old. Owned by a European couple that built the house with the anticipation of having a large family. However they found they could not have children and never really finished the the house to completion, the property itself was a chicken farm and also used as an abattoir. The couple passed away and was inherited by a relative that was trying to sell it. But assholes have destroyed the property.
What a waste. Myself and many families need a home, a roof over our heads, yet there are places like this that is just sitting around abandoned or neglected.
Amen to that Sarah!!! My small family were, trying to find a house we could live and maybe start a family business out of... I guess we'll be resigning yet another lease for an apartment that is just too small for our usage...😣😬😤😭
I agree with you. They need to fix it up and turn it into a NICE place for homeless people could stay while trying to better their lives. God bless and prosper you.
Why that shade of green? Helps fight depression maybe? I've been in a lot of places but never seen chartreuse before. Also, those sliding doors seemed more industrial/commercial vs residential. Were there any elevators? The hallways on the outside - could a person jog all the way around the house if they wanted? Great showing! New sub.
I remember driving past this place and really wanting to go in and explore, but was put off by the busy road and neighbors. So glad to be able to see what it looks like inside
YOCURI wow. Not wrong. You know we never went into that part of the building for some reason...I don't know why we didn't. But that's a good pick up man
I know where this house is The house was owned by an Italian family and had an egg farm next to it in the 70s early 80s. I did buy eggs from them back then The house was never fully finished its been like that for 30-40 years
We get it, it's weird. But I'm not sure it's a residential structure. Maybe it was a private school, or some kind of religious retreat. Also a lot of the place looks like it wasn't 100% complete when the owners (students, tenants, congregation?) bailed.

Noozy Booshka mind you it was on the market before all of the graf and broken windows. Now it's all open and smells like pigeon shit and filth. Think the couple were trying to build as big got as cheap as possible. I can't believe it only sold for around 550,000 the land alone is awesome. View from very top roof is 360 deg. Ugly AF though .. it was never finished ... god knows what it would of turned out like 😂
Holy crap there are some truly epic abandoned homes around Victoria and why isn’t the government doing more to see them either finished and lived in or lived in and then finished. I’d buy one tomorrow to fix up. Also, cockatoo is an awesome place to live.
I'm wondering if it isn't quite finished. For instance, the bedrooms - they have 1 full wall and 2 half-walls. Were they planning to finish it with glass walls and glass doors to keep it light and airy? When they learned they wouldn't be having children, did they decided to just leave it as is? Questions, questions! One more - there are so many shades of green, many of them beautiful, why did neon appeal to them?
That layout is super unusual!! Seems like they were wanting every bedroom to face a window and have very little internal hallways and passageways. Maybe they had some weird spiritual belief(s) about rooms not facing the light? I was under the impression this house was built by a couple who planned to have many children but they were impotent and/or had to leave the country?
KourniKovac yeah I've done a bit of research and it did belong to an couple who built the house and never finished it. Planned on having a ton of kids.
A large house near where I live was painted the same green on the outside , because he was told by a psychic it would get rid of any bad luck he had , maybe it was the same for these people who couldn't have kids
It's amazing that even in new nations like Australia, America etc you still get so many abandoned buildings. It's just shows that without habitation nature very quickly takes over!
I'm thinking it could have originally been built for a cult like group. I've seen the video of its history but that doesn't seem to fit the layout of the place, so I think they may have said private residence for selling purposes. Because of the openness of the rooms, lack of privacy of the rooms, the size of the building & maybe even the bright green, it looks like it's in a fairly private place/land (I could be wrong on its location) it wouldn't surprise me if it was built for a cult like group.
One person told the story of the house........ Italian family had egg farm and sold eggs...... Family never got big enough to use it all so they never finished it. Some people lie chartreuse. But maybe they got a great deal on it
Definitely not a home, l think Mr Hubert may have owned this.. look at the facts, gold steps leading up to the main entrance gates, plenty of natural light, uniformed throughout, no privacy, no doors, lots and lots of mirrors, cleansing was very important, self reflection was very important, Any personal identity was banished, People who lived here came to be programmed.
Another poster might be right about it being used as a MOSQUE...ALL the Oreintal rugs....and the color green is a good luck color!! Or maybe it's a party house from the Disco days...a Drug den
Dan Wagner it was , I live around the corner from it www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/quirky-melbourne-mansion-at-bargain-price-sparking-interest/news-story/eec10e4f445a613cd64ad01139a6dec4
What a crazy design. Call me country boy or whatever. That does not look like a house you could enjoy. Looks like something in India. A whole lot of block and concrete. Some pressure washing and paint, replace them doors and windows. Get Property Brothers to tear down some walls and give an open floor plan, you may have something there. LOL you guys are braver than I am. Stuff like that freaks me out. Be safe out there
Looks like someone painted the walls that color on purpose so that they don’t have to worry about green screens, they could just film without giving away location. Super weird
Looks like squatters have been in and set up a free party venue hence the green walls cery common with those lot as green is a good colour to look at while on mdma etc.....as is bright pink. Does look more like a grand office complex, brick colour is typical colour of office building bricks. None of the layout makes me think it was ecer built as a private house unless is had a internal wall redesign. Looks more like a private hospital, doc's, etc....
Wow that is a nice house beautiful I can't believe it was abandoned too bad someone couldn't find it buy it and fix it up it really deserves it is so pretty
Look up the history of the property. Bet it was the begining of a muslim prayer church. I served in Iraq 2003 and this was how 1 of their churches looked including the color.
Have to agree with you two. My first thought when you pointed out the two identical rooms with the same on suite bathrooms was "He's got a harem". Or even just a couple of wives that catfight and must live separate. His answer: One large house. Four floors. One household per floor. Hense the walls, just a different colour per floor. And then they had more than one green floor . WAIT!!! I Got it! Look at the exact colour of green. I have never seen one up close in real life, so I am probably wrong. Couldn't the walls be coloured to use as green screens? The brown curtains sure would block those bright filming lights from nosy neighbors. It obviously wasn't built as a proper home. You don't place windows inside rooms looking out into the hall. Plus, I haven't seen floor plans including many rooms in an area that are entered by one set of doors. Allowing a "wing" of the house to be in their private use. Well, they and their servants/family. That's the only time I've seen residential buildings that look so cold and never a house. It Really REALLY reminds me of some of the first Sanitariums for Tuberculosis. They too tried to make these places not feel like the death sentence that most became. At first it seemed the places were like large mansions, only there were adjustments made to make the hospice welcoming, as well as able to house, feed, clean and look after all medical issues that arise. Nope I cannot see that as a family home to any true family.
Kelly-Charmaine Marie Flanagan running with the green walls as green screens and brown block out curtains...looks like this is a site to make porn videos. The rooms are sets with no windows or doors for ease of film crew.
At first I thought the green paint may have been primer paint as it is all through out the place...with that and layout it that made me think of club because of the green walls, black lights would be outrageous in there... the layout on first floor makes me wonder it is odd how the layout seems to be a mirrored image of its self... the area with all the open cubical like spaces with mirrors and places where curtains were once hung to close areas off made me think a party place for swingers or brothel of sorts( I could see big throw pillows and comfortable soft things to rest on all over almost like a Arabian night)... the upper floor made me think this even more so of the lower areas as the top area seems to have more of a normal family house feel to it.. what a wonderful share and a mystery to boot..
that doesn't look like a house at all, it looks like some sort of office complex, even the front doors look like some sort of complex, very cold and sterile, not homey at all.
Omg........it's the house I've been looking for information on! We drive past it regularly and I'm so intrigued! It's friggen enormous and not what I was expecting at all!!
this place has a really weird layout. looks like it was designed by a first timer on "The Sims" who had no eye whatsoever for aesthetics, and knew the money cheat code HA HA
It was clearly, what estate agents like to say, architect-designed! It is a shame that the owners never fulfilled their dream of making it a family home. Someone must have had a good deal on pea-green paint and Persian rugs, and what's with all the mirrored walls? Very kinky. And what about privacy when the dividing walls are more like enormous door frames. The place would take a great deal of remodeling, preferably with a bulldozer :)
Why Would Some One Build A Mansion & Leave It To Rot????? There Are So Many People, Who Have No Home. The Mansion Could Be Fixed Up & Let Good Decent People Live There. I Love The Lay Out, Of This Beautiful.....
is it possible that it's not a home but maybe a rehabilitation center, resort,or some other institute?there was a passage under the front steps with a window....guard shack?
The building was unusual. I almost gave a thumbs down just b/c you kept saying “weird.” Yeah, I get it. It’s epically weird. Had to thumbs up b/c the building was such a great exploration. So, thanks for the tour. That was weird.
