Abandoned motel on the M1 Motorway full of stuff. 

These could be used for the homeless families, wouldn't take much to do them up and probably work out cheaper than knocking down and rebuilding. Just a thought! Great video by the way

Why cant someone with a little money clean it up and make it a hostel or a addiction treatment center? so many trying to get help and no facilities. this could be easily cleaned up and converted!.. the government needs to pull socks up and start doing more to allow these kind of buildings be used!

Pretty certain I stayed here many years ago! Recognised the layout, and the restaurant! It is off the Pacific Highway, south of Kempsey NSW if I remember correctly!

I particularly like how the caretaker's residence is built into the gantry! This being a pretty small motel I wondered if one family was managing it all including the restaurant. Someone explained that the new M1 was bypassing towns now so that the lack of customers will be the reason why it had to close. Pacific Hwy was infamous as the most dangerous road in Oz wasn't it? I was hoping to find some old reviews to see what it was like when open but there seem to be none, and when it closed exactly isn't mentioned anywhere either.

this is whats happening all the way up the coast to the Qld border with the old Pacific HWY becoming the M1 bypassing all the towns like Grafton, Kempsy ect completely The towns die a slow death.

Sorry folks, I don't know exact location but from memory was roughly half hour south of Kempsy. Was a bridge over M1 close by. I hope that helps? Happy hunting :)

Looks like they checked out the last of the guests one morning and just called it retirement time. Truly a sad waste of living space for our homeless population.

It is pretty clean too. Not been trashed yet.

For the age of these place, if doesn't look to bad. How far is it from a decent-sized town ? is there anything nearby like a seashore or a nice fishing or boating area ? Seems like it is a decent enough condition to use still as like maybe a family reunion for a weekend place. Or a group hostile for any age. Pool looks like it is still workable with some effort. The flowers are still very pretty.. The sound of the birds is lovely. It could be a nice day care for children or elderly adults. It could also be turned into two or three bedroom small apartments for poorer families. That is if there is no asbestos. Funny thing I noticed is no fridge or freezer anywhere. Although the restaurant sign said pizza or pasta there is no pizza oven. It really isn't that hard to set up a pizza and sandwich and salad shop. What a treat it would be to have one flavor of homemade ice cream week.

Don't understand why people are not living there, sure there a Motor way some distance behind the place, but it's in good nick...

I know this hotel. It was up for sale about 7 years ago and had the main office area for rent. It was quite eerie.. I wonder what happened with the prospective buyers.. I might look into this again actually.. and yes it would be great for homeless people for a short period of time. It has a great kitchen too.

The uploader is being cautiously vague about the location saying "roughly half hour south of Kempsey over a bridge"!! Most people can be much more precise than that about where they've been!! Very odd to see no broken windows though and i'm surprised ANY of that stainless kitchen ware is still there. That's industrial stuff and very expensive. It's possibly gone by now.

If that place is abandoned, than no one owns it, so your not breaking any laws, its not private property either, if its all abandoned theres really nothing stopping you by law from taking all the goods the fridges tvs ect lol sell the lot and live like a king lol
