HIstory
Located in a small town in the south is an abandoned mansion with a dark past where a father murdered his adopted son. His real son saw what happened and tried telling people his father murdered his brother but no one believed the kid. 10 years later the property got sold and the new owners ended up finding the 13-year-old kid buried under the front porch wrapped in a Disney blanket.

Its so sad that a young kid was killed there and the father got away with murdering him for way to long. He most likely would of got a shorter sentence if he would admitted to the mistake he made, or even that kid would still be alive if he would of called and gotten help for that kid. The other child who witnessed it must of lived in fear every day wondering if the father got mad at him if he would end up dead as well. RIP young soul, sorry you never had a chance in life, but you have your wings now. Great video Steve!!

I think this mansion has the most potential I have seen yet. No bulky furniture to remove. Real easy looking restoration. No water damage. Heck if I had the money I would. I say go for it!!!

1850 was 170 years ago.. those days the house would’ve have servants or even slaves and likely most of those bathrooms and closets were converted from servants corridors and linen closets linking the rooms so they could go from room to room without being seen, changing the linens and such.

Such a beautiful home and so sad its left for nature to reclaim it but even more sad is the fact a young child lost his life and another one surely suffered in his life knowing what happened and no one listened to him. Sad, sad, sad.

There are a few abandoned places in Florida. Miami Marine Stadium, The Dome Home, The Colony Plaza Hotel, The UFO House. There is a Ghost Town in Okeechobee, Florida called Fort Town.

The rooms, especially on the second floor were attached, i.e., doors leading through closets or baths to other door to other bedroom, and all around a central high ceiling hall, for the benefit of air flow in the hot summers down south before AC. Breezes from the trees outside could act as an air system for all the rooms. Rooms, therefore, would be hotter in the summer if they were all closed in with only one door leading in and out.

Beautiful layout to the house. I like the enclosed back porch area and the 'hidden' room. That attic is huge. The window seats upstairs and the wardrobe in the hallway/loft gives me ideas. I see why someone wanted to renovate it.

The windows in mansions were big for two reasons, to let as much light in as there was no electricity and air flow on very hot days. The family room was partitioned off. The two rooms would have been one big family room.

The post and ball at the end of the stairs is a Newell post. It is said when a home was paid off the deeds were put in the post.

Not like he intended to kill the boy....just a fit of passion......that he hid the body was sign of guilt.....he had two trials....he commit suicide in prison the day after second guilty verdict ...INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER .. also the father tried to get relief via efforts to be found unfit to stand trial at various state hospitals but failed.....to call this a murder with intent seems a miscarriage of justice ....some states allow DEFENDENT to plead INSANITY....which is often the truth.... Hard to believe home abandoned ..it's had a lot of drywall work...? I wonder who owns it.,.is it possible to buy it? I just bought a house not far away IN MS...and nobody told me a suicide occured here and an arson...

The room between the kitchen and dining room is called the butlers pantry. The cabinet in the hallway upstairs were for the seasonal clothing and bed linens. I've been a member for awhile and enjoy how you do your tours.
