This long cold abandoned GT was said to have a bad engine and been parked a long time ago. After a simple look over, no obvious signs of failure came up , So we decided to give it a go!
Its such a paradox; that interior is completely trashed-out, but then you hear that 'pleasant' seatbelt chime. That exhaust note still sounds healthy too ;)
Cole Kitten they did give it fuel they tried to get that shit running it’s not worth buying shit to restore it if it was from a junkyard no offense but that’s the truth but sometimes you can restore cars from the dead
David shut up I cant tell you don't know shit about cars that car isn't salvageable and it would horrible to give to somebody that "needs" a car it financially ruin them with the repairs and insurance. Just let it get crushed like it should be its a pos 90s mustang
@@jacobfleming565 actually engine sounds strong and healthy, inteior is nasty but can easily be cleaned and it would make a great car for someone who needs a car or wants a project car, honestly I would love to buy that, just needs some cleaning and fluids flushed
@@jacobfleming565 Why are you mad? Get ur panties out of a bunch bro fr. I would also love to buy that car. Whatever it costs to keep running, I'll pay it. I got nothin else to spend my money on rn except food when I go out, high end clothes and porn subscriptions.
Save and keep that damn car! Sounds incredible good, for the low maintenance and care shown by its former owner. You're doing justice by saving that trashed jewel! You got our Ford Romania votes, for sure!
This would be a good project car for a high school or vocational school to let the students rebuild it and learn about how cars are put together and how to put them back together. That's worth much more than sending scrap to Asia. Just my 2 cents.
In my high school auto shop, we got junk cars like this to learn how the different systems (cooling, starting charging, steering suspension etc.) all worked. I’m a Master Mechanic now
Sounds good, I got a 91 notch back 5.0 I moved and left it for 5 years, I came back and tried to resurrect it and need new fuel pump, put new pump on and fired up like I shut it off the day before
Joseph Pllumaj no the old pump was rusted up and didn't even run, I just put new pump on and started hitting on all 8 and good steady idle, I still drive it and still pulls hard
Player Two I have a 90 lincoln mk7 Lsc Se(luxury sport coupe special edition ) . I don't know if you know about them but it's like you cars uncle. Has the same 5.0l high output and the aod as the gt (auto only though) also has a 3.36:1 lsd , 4 wheel discs with abs and sport tuned air spring suspension that keeps the car level around corners. I bought it recently from a guy that parked it since 2014 because it had a bad oil leak from valve cover gasket that was put on wrong. One end hole at the back of the engine wasn't even lined up so of course it leaked bad right onto the header. He knew he just replaced the gaskets and the oil pressure sending unit so he didn't want to put more money into it since he had 2 other cars already, one was his mom's lexus that she can no longer drive. It also had a pinhole in the p/s hose that leaked as well so it smoked badly as was a fire hazard to run. He ran it every few weeks until the battery got too low one time and kept on cranking it over slowly but it wouldn't fire. So he toasted the small starter used on these 5.0 ho s . So it hasn't run for a couple years. I bought it changed the starter charged the battery up (was at 10 volts) and disconnected the coil lead to prime the oil pump and lube the top end and it fired right up with the old gas in it. The tank was filled to the top with premium which has no ethanol here in BC Canada. I pumped some gas out and it is tinted yellow but don't smell too bad so I put some mmo and sea foam in it and ran it, these ford's are fairly simple engines. Now the brakes were a pain as it uses hydro boost and the electric pump wasn't working , but I gave the pump a whack and it broke loose the crud seizing it. Also the disc brake slides needed a good clean , and the tail shaft seal leaked from sitting but those things are to be expected with any car that sits.
No it wouldn't the people that always talk about "restoring cars" don't know the first thing about repairing cars and have never turned a wrench in their lives
@@jacobfleming565 Why not? Engine runs and transmission works. All it needs is a good pressure washer, new interior, and some tlc. I’ve seen cars in worse condition drive.
To be fair the mustang really isn’t in terrible condition. The engine sounds good and it’s just generally dirty. A little cleaning and it’ll actually be a half decent car
Was the third owner of a teal 1994 GT covertible with the white interior/white top. It was a beautiful, if somewhat girly, car. It was pretty darned quick, too. Much better quality than my 2003 Centennial Edition convertible.
White. Just very dirty. The challenge with the white leather interior was keeping it clean. Even if you didn't use the back seat, soot from the air would build up on the leather since the car was a convertible. Really, really striking when clean and the top was down.
It looks bad but it still has a soul. The advantage of having a car like that is that you can do everything up yourself and not worry about originality or keeping it perfect. I'd love to have that as a fun learner project.
How would pushing the gas pedal do anything when the car isn't a carburetor its fuel injected. Also when pushing the pedal all it's doing is pushing in air. On most fuel injected engines (ok, every last one I’m familiar with), the throttle is electronic, in which case pumping while cranking the car on does nothing but push air in. the throttle is connected via a cable just to the throttle body. When you step on the gas, all you’re doing is opening and closing the throttle plate, which is simply regulating air flow, not fuel flow. Fuel flow is controlled by the computer, which uses a throttle position sensor along with other sensors to determine how much gas to add. Unless this car is diffrent I would love to know.
Little extra air wouldn't hurt the situation. I've had Vehicles that started a lot faster with that method. Although it is fuel injected sometimes it helps get them going quicker
CoinHuntingDrew I'm not talking about Jay and the group at the yard, I'm referring to the previous owner that let it go to shit. You have your opinion and I have mine. Lets just agree to disagree.
31jeffburton That's not the point, it isn't about the type of car. It's the neglect. If you can't afford to maintain it, don't buy it. If you can't afford to fix it, sell it. Don't just let it rot.
That pony needs the loving touch of a good restoration garage with a couple tweaks to the engine, suspension, a good new top, paint and interior. Ahh she’d be SWEEET!
So here's some knowledge, there was a limited number of white interior convertibles. Save this fucking car and fix her up cause you got yourself a money maker
In better shape and more complete then my fox body was when I got mine from a salvage yard when I was 15 lol in 4 ft of grass no interior no windows, theft recovery started right up with a battery with out missing a beat , that was 28 years ago now it's my weekend car
"What happens if you give it gas?" It's fuel injection...holding the petal down doesn't give it gas. Plus ford has it if the gas petal is pushed all the way down it won't start.
One, if you hold if wide open it try’s to start in flood mode and won’t let fuel through the injectors, but if you give it partial throttle it will help, my 88 fuel injected foxbody wouldn’t start without giving it gas for the longest time until I put a stand alone ecu on it and messed the the start up fueling
I'm surprised the gas wasn't like syrup in that tank and also that they didn't burn up the starter by holding it down so long so many times. that starter had to be red hot
Damn shame. If this car was in this condition in 20 years it'd be saved. Makes me think of all the awesome 50's and 60's cars that were grinded up in the 70's and 80's cause they were "just scrap".
MavDude, for real. I know it's not cost effective for return right now, but can you imagine it finished! Cobra bumper, 2" Cowl Hood, Jet Black, Top Top, White Stripes, White 17" Roush 5 spokes, rare white and black interior. Tuxedo two-tone inside & out, turbo/procharged 4valve, headers, trick exhaust, etcetera, etc, etc...
people see a car start and think it is automaticly good LOL damn shame this thing probably has electical problems like nuts considering the moss LOL fun for a burnout car but to fix this ur crazy u could put that money into a fox body or an edge you would be way happier this has gotta be the worst looking mustang minus king cobra body style that was fugly or as a matter of fact buy a g body chevy like a fucking man
Wesleey Sutton, I've owned three G-Bodies, but that certainly doesn't define my manhood. Think you're missing my points. The first message was merely reminiscing about the lost cars of the 50's and 60's and how this car mirrors this decades later. My later message was in regards to it being built up beyond stock aware of it currently being cost ineffective. I assume by you pining for G-Bodies, New Edges, and Foxes that you prefer a more angular car. Which is fine because people's tastes in cars vary. Clearly. Much like the variance in people's level of intelligence.
even though it looks like shit outside and in, it seems to run pretty good over all! Hell, if someone wanted a semi-modern car to restore, this DITR would be a perfect candidate. Not saying i'd want it though.
take out the interior, clean it up, pump up the tires, change the oil and whatnot and use it for having fun.that is a shame to go to waste, proper nice car
That's what I mean, and from the way it ran it sounds healthy, minus it stalling but I bet it has something to do with the MAF sensor or something like that... Clean it up and have fun with it, why crush it? Lol
Have to give props to them ruststangs.... Them things can sit be trashed and still run... I drove a 95 home for a guy both head gaskets blown no gauges and the thing still did 102..
Great video, may as well have some fun with the engine and see if it goes before it goes in the crusher. Always good to see if it works. keep up the great cold start / dodgy engine video's. greetings from New Zealand.
It’s actually hard to blow a motor, even revving it while it’s cold won’t blow it. I worked at a Suzuki dealer in 2006, and the salesman and porters would start the cars and immediately hold them to the floor “to make sure they were running” and I don’t remember any ever blowing. For some reason they beat the fire out of used cars and even the ones needing warranty work
Always start these cars in the clear / flood mode. That is to say push the accelerator to the floor and use some starting fluid. There's no reason to beat those starters up like that. Come on guys. By the way I love the videos keep them coming.
Probably had a carboned up IAC valve if it kept having idle issues. Very common issue on these motors and not hard to fix if you know about it. Basically just need to clean it out and check the voltage on it to see if it's still good. 4.6L is a great motor if you know what you're doing with them. There are 2 valve mod motors that make 1000 horsepower + with forced induction.
'Stang fan that I am, I would personally cut Jay some slack on this one. There may be legal reasons why this car can't be returned to the road. It may not be his decision to make, i.e. if he is not the owner of the facility or if the car was taken in with the express requirement that it be destroyed. Jay has already saved a number of old Fords/ Lincolns at this yard, so I'd guess there is probably good reason. If Jay hadn't filmed this we would have been none the wiser about this car. Many facilities will not allow filming or public access, so we are lucky to get the insights we do and at the end of the day this channel has resulted in a good number of cars being saved.
FYI- the oil pressure gauge on these cars is just a dummy gauge. It's connected to a oil pressure switch that's either on or off. It only takes 5 PSI of oil pressure to make the gauge read normal. You have to put a real gauge on to know if the oil pressure is actually sufficient.
@@johnfranklin5277 you should see what i do with those mustangs on my channel. I throw em in the air and toss em around, then crush the remaining life out of em.
Probably isnt phased. You would be surprised what abuse those electric motors will take. I mean they are just an electric motor. It even still worked today when we fired it up again .
Eric Schwarz I don’t think it’s flooded it would look like water in the interior but maybe he poured water into the radiator and it got in the oil but I don’t think so but you have a point 👍
I'm a new subscriber, and I was wondering when these are sold for scrap and turn s out to run what do you do with them then? Surely you do t scrap them. If that's the case can you sell them?
