it was a very special day for me visiting disappointed I didn't get a good look on the inside, must have been a very dramatic place to work man, you Scots have the best of the outdoors I miss the land so much I kind of hurts me. thanks for stopping by the channel with your thoughts I love it
This site is awesome. Remember me and my friend went to check it out. There was some creepy houses up the back. We ended up getting caught by security but he was s legend. Just told us not to trash anything or he'd call the cops, understandably.
One of my friends was on Duty on last day the Hospital was open, only two wards in use at the time. Anyhow I had the opportunity to explore the remaining empty building and grounds,. really great experience as many traces of former occupancy still in situ.
I had a relative treated there. They came out recovered, in time. It was a place that helped people. And now it’s gone. What does that tell you about Britain now?
A very moving visit. The big ward where dozens of beds must have been lined up. I feel I can hear the cries and screams of the patients. There must have been so much suffering within those walls. A very poignant visit indeed. Thank you for taking us along, Ian. Keep up the excellent work!
Yes I agree, I’m guessing the hospital would have had an acute and chronic scale for the patients maybe even padded cells ECT Lobotomy rooms etc absolutely terrible the foundation of mental health completely built on experimental torture of victims with zero rights and dignity, I just hope the people that passed though the walls of this building were treated well. Thanks Hubert
Both my mum and gran were charge nurses here from around the end of the 90’s until the hospital’s closure in 2010/11. Both of them worked with elderly people, mainly with dementia. I used to visit and thoroughly enjoyed my visits whilst I was there. In that time the hospital was warm and friendly, and the nurses cared deeply about their patients.
wow that place is amazing and very creepily its just like the mental asylum in the game thief deadly shadows, loved the drone footage music fitted well to, lol the socks.
definitely an isolated and creepy place, was a good adventure walking from the town miles away all the snow on the ground made my feet cold and wet thought I’d make use of the free sock drier haha. Thanks Phil
I've watched a lot off your videos with anticipation and really enjoyed the experience off seeing some off the sadly decayed building etc you have visited such a shame keep up the good work :-)
I enjoyed researching Rosslynlee Hospital, looking at all the old pictures of when the place was open the old railway halt etc . Thank you was very kind of you to say
quite sad to see a place like this close, i was imagining all the people living there, quite upsetting really, but an excellent video, perfectly done, nature reclaims fast !! thank you and take care
My sister worked there in the 1980’s and my friend Billy worked a psychiatric nurse in early eighties. At that time the staff were only allowed to work five years and had to take a break for their own mental well being. I heard a story about a nurse hanging herself from the stairwell around that time. 🤔🤔
That was awesome. Such a shame a beautiful building like that is just sitting there empty going to wreck and ruin. Very innovative way to dry your socks! :) Thanks for sharing. Atb Shaun
Yes 8 years since the hospital locked the doors in a isolated place built in 1874 143 years ago society used to hide the patents away then not so much nowadays , cheers Shaun
Yes must have been a sad day for all the staff and inmates the day it closed, situated in such a beautiful place Rosslyn Chapel is not far away , thanks Bry
I agree would have been awesome to have seen the railway station I bet the place used to grow and farm food occupational therapy for the inmates. Best wishes Ian
Nice one mate done loads of urbex back in the day before it was easy to film (mobile phones etc) good to see peeps still out doing it, have subbed ya too. ATB Paul 👍🏻👍🏻
I wonder where you could access records for this place. My grandmother was there following an assault in the 60s and she said it was the most vile and humiliating place she had ever been. It destroyed her life actually. What a fascinating video. I had no idea it was so big a place.
Hi Olena I remember reading about the place and thinking to myself the very same thing, the place must have been horrible in the olden days no private rooms just curtains, better wards for private patients etc.. the head doctors house house being magnificent of coarse with a big conservatory on the back. you should go see a developer is trying to turn the place into apartments. PM me if your going to visit. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, best wishes
Hi we came across your channel while researching places to go in Scotland. What a cool place so much history. We subbed why not pop over and see what we get up to. Cheers
I Macey no problem , spent much of my childhood in there and would love to see in what conditions west Dumbartonshire council left it in . Teenagers broke into it and set fire to the main area of the playdrome 😢.
It would be a shame to demolish all that it’s good quality stone work ,I’m sure it can be converted in to some other use ,it’s heritage of Scotland ,please save the buildings for Scotland , x pat ,old jimmy
Cheers Jimmy I agree with you grand old buildings its always down to funding, cheaper to build biscuit tin house now rather than re purpose grand old buildings, once there gone that's it there gone forever, best wishes and thanks for coming over to the channel
What are the reasons for so many abandoned asylums? And what are the reasons they aren't needed anymore? Are the inhabitants just shifted to somewhere else, or are there now less patients because families now taken care of their own, or are there simply less patients?
Care in the community en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Care_in_the_Community most of the Victorian hospitals were closed during the mid 90s. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts 💭👍
Nice find man... looks a real cool place, sum will probably say it's haunted and all that, but I like it.. shame it's not still being used.. yeah shame you couldn't get in, but thats what it is, lock down.. interesting old rail line, where did it go.? where did it come from.?.... dig the music bro "drones" trippy man.... keep up the good work man..... L8r bro..
Alex cheers man yes I was looking for a way in and found a hole in the roof where a sky light had been lifted off but was way to far to jump down needed rope had the same kind of feel Edgeview hostel had in the 90s but a lot bigger creepy windows yes I’m sure ghost hunters will no doubt have been or will go there 8 years of neglect has taken its toll, situated near Rosslyn Chapel and some other interesting places , yes man I love that synth arp sound , thanks again man 👍
Yeah man... sorry didn't read the links till after i wrote that message "rail line".. even more intrested.. yeah some old Asyulm,, "Shutter Island" the movie springs to mind....
That's a gem of a find Ian. Nice to see there's not been too much vandalism yet. However, I suspect that is only a matter of time. I like to see these places documented before they get destroyed but it also mithers me that these buildings, paid for and kept by tax payers, go to total ruin. I liked the drone shots to show the sheer size of this place and also your music. Did your socks get a bit wet? :D
well im glad you found the place ok ian, seems like you didnt manage to get right through the place. did you go upto the old farm houses further up the road. now they are very interesting to go through. kind of jump back in time .great video though.
Cheers Lee what a great place for an explore I found a way though a roof but the fall was too high though a skylight I never brake or take on an explore and the place was well boarded up, yes I saw the farm houses on my way out, is quite a long walk from the nearest town but very enjoyable thanks for the heads up regarding this place one of my best explores thanks Lee
been in some amazing buildings too!,,,,was in ladybridge up in aberdeenshire,,,it was amazing! the room where they used electric shock treatment was still intact!and was really wierd with padded walls, doors and windows!,,god knows what evil happened in yon place!!!!,,,,,,,,,,,,it was sold to a guy from livingston for £2..................you can read about the sale on the web!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!hmmmmmmm,!!!!!,your videos are good!,love watching them!,,so intresting!...cool!

Most visit but I'm going to stay there but it looks like most of you just like going visit it has stayed in one because the night time will be the time when you're feel them there are around and that building I used to get it whittingham hospital until they knocked it down
Use this one and fire the mental asylum and I was like that's a mental hospital that it's a mental hospital what it is I believe in prophecy or meant to be abandoned for a purpose in the future so I keep an eye on it to see what's going on and obviously we have to see where they all know I've been to Scotland life in Scotland fantastic
The message for you when you go on the train next I want you to write about the people on the train it's a message for you it's called train and travel writing watching and walking
Not so easy when I was there, some other explorers got in a few weeks after I was there secca deffo keep an eye on the place worth a look around the gardens though and the farm houses are interesting
NIce job... Give that place 6months and I bet you'll have better access to the inside. I thought Teenzie did this one, but looks like I'm wrong. Isn't she in your neck of the woods? ru-vid.com I miss seeing her stuff, she kinda disappeared. too bad.
Yes I’m unsure where she’s from I think Glasgow way but could be mistaken, she is the one of the original explorers on RU-vid living life on her terms. Another explorer I never see anymore is this lady ru-vid.com she has a great way of talking while filming. Thanks WT you’re awesome man
great explore man were hoping to head up here very soon to check it out! have you been to hardwood hospital in Scotland? we done an explore there recently and its HUGE check out our video if your interested! ill be subscribing man!👍
All the time is doing stuff is taking me to places in dreams and I know what they are so I've had to tell him to slow down so we was doing it every night
with a human eyes you can't die because you have many like frames of silhouettes that you have to go through in your life images of yourself for your career when you come to the end of your life you have one main one and a cover clone so you go out in your shadow clone
my belief is a humanoid can go over the top of a skeleton so I will take a skeleton with me as an experiment and meet them but there's something with lightning
