$100 spent on an abandoned storage unit. Let's find out what has been stored away in the boxes! #storageunit #abandonedstorage Follow me on Instagram @paperandmoose

The mockingbird nearby sings as Renee dances, it doesn't get much better than that! There may not be a ton of treasures in that unit but at least the videos are entertaining! Thanks for sharing!
I love your storage unit humor…😂😆! You made me smile. I’ve been sorting through over 45 years of living and throwing away most of it. My kids don’t want any of it😳
I would say this is almost definitely an eviction unit. A cleanout crew just took everything that was in the apartment and tossed it in boxes and bags, as fast as they could work.
My mom had boxes and boxes of receipts going back over 20 years when we cleaned her out. Old magazines, rags, clothes, shoes, and more. I toss papers, trash, and recycling every day. I take stuff to Goodwill or Salvation Army every week. There's still my crafting stuff, books, clothes, etc. But it's way less. I'm 74. Tina, Al's wife
Hi Renee. WOW! This was fun. The stuff you find in storage units is unbelievable. The dolls look amazing and some need help to look great. Sorry, typing and eating pizza 🍕. Not bad of a unit. God Bless you Renee. HUGS 🤗. Mari'a. 🤗🤗🍕❤️❤️❤️🌺🌼🌸🦋🦋🦋👋👋👋👍👍👍
I could listen to you all day just talking. You are so calm and lovely. In a hectic world and Utube yelling you and Taco are a pleasure to watch. Good hunting. 🕊
Hey Renee! Great video! You showed the McDonalds gift card from 2005, take it to McDonalds to see if anything is on it. I found one in the trash for Wal Mart, same thing, no codes.......so I took it to the store and it did have a few dollars on it and they redeemed it! You just never know until you try!!😃😃
Thank you, Renee, for this great video! Paper and coins I am trying to figure this unit out too Those pins should go home with you. Keep what makes you smile😁 Those things are gifts in our lives. Keep smiling because you are beautiful and so wise😘
A few have mentioned that, but with the amount of mouse droppings & mold/dirt, it would seem silly for a storage facility to combine boxes from several units, let all of it sit in that unit for months, & then auction it off for whatever price they could get. They’ve allowed for a rentable unit to be filled with “staged” stuff in hopes of cashing out for more money than what the unit would bring in if rented… If that was the case, then they lost out on a lot of money because we only paid $100.
At least the unit wasn’t filled with rocks. I watch on RU-vid What the Hales and he got a unit with tons, pounds and individual rocks, laced all through the unit. Crazy!!!!
Saving every piece of paper seems over the top. But I can understand saving a positive pregnancy test. The birth of my kids were the most momentous events in my life. They are adults now but I still count them among my best friends, especially since their Mom has gone to her eternal reward. I have silly mementos like that. The tracing from their brain waves, the plastic wrist bands with their names. A whole trunk of this stuff that means literally nothing to anyone else but reminds me of how precious they were and continue to be to me. The mold was sad though. So much stuff you could have sold or given away ruined. Still a great bit of content Renee.
Interesting locker. So you finally found someone who appreciates like you the value of old paper, especially ephemera...😄 By the way: my personal find of the day was the Golden Acres Seeds jacket, perfect for a cold and windy day. 👌Anyways, some pretty neat finds on the tapes, dolls and the pins. Congrats on your rapidly growing number of subscribers. 👍Finally I got a special question for you, Renée: do you know an English word for the German "Kummerspeck" ? We had a hard time to find something that fits, but with no result. 🤔Have a great Tuesday, and see you on the next one ! Greets from GER, U.
"Grief bacon"? Haha. I think here we just refer to it as stress eating or emotional eating. Wish we had a fun sounding translation for it! Thank Taco Stacks' neighbor for the Seeds jacket. He gave it to Taco & he couldn't fit it anymore, so I said I'd love to have it. Vintage farming jacket? Sign me up! Yes, old paper... but not the paper that I love! Haha. Wonder why they didn't use Post It notes? That would have been something! A whole storage unit of used Post It notes. Perhaps in the next one! 😂
Comfort food? I only had one year of German in college and it was at 8 am. Which was like the middle of the night back then. Also I got mono and missed weeks of class. So don’t attach much weight to my opinion
@@PaperandMoose Grief bacon ?! That´s not fair Renée, because you probably got some help from Mr. Google himself. 😆 But the direction was right. "Kummerspeck" means that you got some overweight due to personal grief, e.g. if your boy friend left you. Kiki and me played some games during this weekend between Idaho and Lower Saxony, and we figured out that there are no English expressions for some words like Kummerspeck, Sprachgefuehl, Schnapsidee, Fernweh or Feierabend. No offense against the beauty of English language, because this game also works in the opposite direction. 😊
@@stephenritz5581 Nope, not comfort food. "Kummerspeck" means that you got some overweight due to personal grief, e.g. if your girl friend left you. Ein Jahr Deutschunterricht, hm ?! Zeit also, uns oefter in dieser Sprache zu unterhalten...😃
@@fareast_de OK, werde ich tun. Another phrase that I never could understand is “Du Doch Nicht” which I guess was painted on the back of Ernst Udet’s airplane in WWI. I did my college thesis on guys from my college who went overseas to fly before and after the US entered the war. And of course I went off on a tangent about von Richthofen - which led me to other German Aces. And now I guess I should stop taking up Renee’s comment real estate. Or does this help monetize?
8:45 minutes in - Bryan Adams.. when I was on my high school senior trip to Toronto, Canada (from Mid-Central lower Michigan), we went to a Lover Boy concert and the opening act was Bryan Adams. Great memories! My mom was one of our chaperones. She and the other chaperones went to a nearby bar while we were at the concert. They got a great burger and came back to the hotel. She says she could swear she heard my "woohoo scream" from 19 floors up as the concert was let out.. LOL! LOVE YOUR DANCE AND sing-along!!
Yeah, some lockers are filled with apartment cleanouts due to evictions, I'm sure you know, so a person's entire life, frozen in time, is in there, including use pregnancy tests and whatever else happened to be in the apartment when the landlord or management emptied it.
You can throw that McDonalds gift card into your car & use it to scrape snow & ice when you realize you've misplaced your scraper (where do they go?). I heard "Straight from the Heart" is a commercial for some cardiac medicine last night. Made me a little sad - both that the song had been sold for advertising and that the show I was watching mostly had commercials for "older folks" medication (what does it say about the intended audience ...). Looks like you be able to make at least $100 back, no? The pins are a nice find. In terms of being pad in $/hr, though, I'm sure you're below minimum wage on this one! But - a couple of fun videos - and - as you say - that's the way it goes. Thanks for this. Have a great Tuesday! Rain here all week, I think. Our company has given Friday off so I may get to hit a few estate sales early this week.
Don't laugh, but I have done the gift card/credit card thing to scrape ice off my windshield! Can't believe Bryan Adams would sell his song for a medicine commercial.... almost like when you are listening to the "Classic Rock" or "Oldies" radio station and a song from 1994 comes on and they are discussing how it's such a classic. Wasn't 1994 like 5 years ago? Haha. Hope that the estate sales are good! I will most likely also be going to a sale on Friday and from the photos, looks like it could be a pretty good one. I'll have to start planning now on how early to get there to wait in line to get in :0)
Well Renee. Seemed to go endlessly downhill after the Batman watch. Twilight Zone pin numbers. Papers. Ooh a pregnancy test!. Papers. Purses full of mold. Papers, papers. …” what does a hoarder store when a hoarder can't hoard more?”plenty of films and remotes. Maybe they liked to watch movies while they went through all their vintage receipts?? Cute dolls though…in the end.
Loved another video of yours. You make it so fun. I'm glad you wear gloves. You are so cute when you get all tickled. I love ya! Stay safe and healthy. ❤️😘💕💕💕🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✌️
We’re often told the facility went in first & removed all the “good” stuff. Pretty sure no one was previously digging through all these bits of paper & moldy purses to find the “good stuff” 😆
Look at paperwork and see how many different names and addresses there are. It looks to me that the storage facility just threw a bunch of junk units all together.
This video was filmed at Taco Stacks’ property, the boxes had previously been in a storage unit. We only had a certain amount of time to clean the unit, so it was easiest to sort through the majority of boxes not at the unit.
Sometimes you get paper - and sometimes you get moose....8^) re the old cell phones - if there's a cell phone repair firm nearby, they may give you a little bit of money for them to break them up for parts to fix other phones. Worth a try maybe. Cheers.
You will have to write a book on the things you find in storage. Pregnancy test used, I watched you find a toddle potty, including everything in it. 🤣😝🤪
Hi Paper Moose. How do you know when a storage unit is up for auction? Approach a storage business? A public listing? Be a member? All three? Also, is there a lot of buyer competition?
The people probably got evicted, stuff out in yard got rained on. Then landlord or owners threw it in storage is why it's moldy, mildewed. Bits of papers reminds me of Leo DiCapprio 's movie "Catch Me if You Can", where he peeled labels off wine and stuff and filled his wallet.
Hi beautiful hope you find lots of good stuff, hate to have to go through moldy & nasty bags for little money, Renee come to Oklahoma I’ll buy you dinner
Just started watching you. Do you ever go back and do a follow-up on some of the items to tell us what they may have sold for? Or what kind of profit you may have made on a unit?
It was probably a landlord that kicked someone out Put the whole appt in storage. And sent them the bill to get it . And they never did. Sure looks like it to me .
That could be as well. I'm still trying to figure out if they used a purse until it was filled with the folded paper bills & notes and then just went out & bought another purse. Same with the clothes!
Thank you for coming back and showing us what you found some of the you tubers get storage units and they just barely show what they have found and that is no fun for the viewer as a matter of fact if i start watching one of their videos and they are just throwing stuff around and not even showing what they found i will stop watching
I was a foster Carer for 10 years If all the paperwork is different names. I’m thinking it’s foster kids. And the totes are ex foster kids memory boxes. We have a few left. Try and give them to the kids when they age out of care
It always baffles me why people would store literal garbage & stuff that can be recycled (cigarette packs for example). Cause the less you need to store, the smaller the unit you'd need to rent. Making your monthly rental fees less
We ended up with quite a pile of recyclables, mostly paper from bills, notes, magazines, junk mail, etc. As you said, remove what could have been recycled before putting it in a unit & you wouldn’t need such large a unit. Perhaps they thought they would sort through it another time…
