Must be, in 'beautiful' North Jersey😝. I live in South Jersey, and that's NOWHERES, 'round here (we ain't got, no dumb mountains/hills). That thing that you wasn't sure, what it was, is an old-school, gasoline pump. So, if the government backed out, of building the dam; why didn't the residents move back in (that, wasn't mentioned)???
The dam they talk about was called the Tock's island dam. The village is empty but hardly abandoned. Up keep of all the buildings continues to this day. And those signs are not a joke. That area is under surveillance and if you mess with the buildings you will be arrested
It’s not really “abandoned”. I live near there and hike and hunt the immediate area you are walking around. The whole valley was a result of the “Tocks” project. People still live there so please be respectful of the properties.
My friend crashed his car late at night here while we were mobbing and the rangers that patrol the town came and helped us out and in one of the memorial buildings the doors were open and windows and there was a red light just fading in and out with a silhouette just eating soup or something like that. One of the most bone rattling sights ive ever seen. Edit: The rangers know these buildings are haunted. They know about the lights inside, the silhouettes, the ghost stories, etc. They cant do anything about it so they turn a blind eye to it.
