This video demonstrates the sound of the Fiat 500 Abarth between the stock 600 cell cat downpipe, the Road Race Motorsports 200 cell Hi-Flow Cat downpipe, and the Modern Performance Catless Downpipe.
One of the best exhaust comparisons I've ever seen. I can say one thing after this, I'm going catless. The 3inch downpipes sound like rice, definitely going to go with a smaller pipe like RRM. It seems to keep the Abarth sound, and add some extra turbo whistle, and take some of the muffled sound out at high revs.
iAmDevil I got the resonated catless downpipe on order, coming next week. If it doesn't cut the rasp over a regular catless downpipe I will be back to stock. It sounds PERFECT from the factory. The sound my Cabrio makes with the top back is GLORIOUS 😎
I think the high flow cat sounds the best all around idk I just love the raspiness and it seems like it actually makes the turbo just a little louder it really screams rally car I need to pick one of these up
Loving the Road Race Motorsports Hi-flow Cat downpipe for all tests. Sounds great. The decat sounds great but makes me feel the bark is more than the bite.
I guess I'm the only one that likes the sound of the Road Race pipe, just seems to have a deeper sound to me. My son bought a 2015 Abarth a couple days ago with only 30 miles on it. I may have grown up in the muscle car era, but that Abarth is just plain FUN! It is a blast to drive, I'm seriously thinking about buying one for myself, lol.
That's fantastic! Hope your son loves his Abarth. I own the red one in the video and I have since put the road race pipe on it. I love it because it accentuates the existing abarth sound without changing it.
razerremix I agree with you. My friend that runs this youtube channel is a reallly techy person and did a really good job with all the fancy editing stuff. I just directed and recorded the video haha.
Awesome Video! Listening to these sounds warms the cockles of my heart. While I'm a big fan of the Catless DP sound with its throaty and metallic calls, the Hi-Flow Cat DP definitely is a nice medium between the stock and Catless. Just enough to keep the muted and clean sound of factory, but also to hear the rumble of the Revs; something for me to look forward to when I start modding my little Piccolo Rosso!
this video is awesome but really doesn't let you hear just how loud the catless DP really is. I just installed mine and holy shit...its sooo loud...the backfire is also louder...I live in queens, NY so it's fun watching people ducking and getting scared...sounds like gunshots...I love it
Great video, must admit the stock hands down. That's the great thing about this car you don't really need to do anything. All I have in my 2014 Abarth is the Go-Pedal that's all this car needs.
For sure! I'll need a couple weeks yet. Although it won't be with muffler. Right now I am running stock down pipe, stock midpipe and muffler delete (pretty much a muffler shop bent a straight pipe after the mid) I'm concerned it maybe too loud so I might throw a resonator in there somewhere. But if I do a resonator I'll be sure to make two videos with before and after. If you go through my videos I have one of the muffler delete.
Yeah it is just like these amazing sound notes! My '08 G.Punto Sport T-Jet sounds more like the first one.. was made in Italy and 1H,30mins drive from me ..
@@wideabarth i did... my catless downpipe just arrived today and with your test i can now imagine what is going to happen. bmw m340i straight six with twinscroll turbo😁🤙... thanks aggain for the great video
Quality review. Great to hear the differences. I have a standard A500...a peach of a car...and the stock exhaust tone is what clinched the deal to get one.
Michael Harris why so much hate? Listen to the european abarths, they sound if not the same, similar. That's even before the fiat/chrysler partnership.
On my 2015 abarth it has full stock exhaust only have intake right now but I feel like when it gets into higher rpm’s it gets quieter. And in lower rpm it’s louder.
Stock for me. I keep watching these videos thinking I want to change my pipes but I always end up thinking stock is the best all rounder. I can leave the house without too much upset and it still sounds good when I pull away. The only thing I will do is buy a rear section with straight pipe and no silencer. Great video!!
May I dare say that I like the original, more base sound best in most situations? Impressive achivement with such a small engine. I like the non cat sound if i were on a track.
Oliver Slacke Hi Oliver! The black abarth has madness's version of the eurocompulsion V3. It's actually a very quiet intake. The "PSSSSSS" you hear is most likely from his Forge full replacement Blow Off Valve
Question, Does the RRM Downpipe cat bolt to the stock exhaust components of the 1.4 engine, or is any replacing required to fit. Also, would the menthioned Downpipe cat fit a 1.4 Tjet (non abarth 120hp version) exhaust system. Would be great if anybody could answer the 2nd question
I wish my ecotec 1.4 turbo sounded as good as the Fiat/Dart 1.4 turbo...... must be different cam timing, exhaust valve metrics... all the setups I've heard for my ecotec get super raspy... but on these and the Darts they always have an excellent gurgle and SRT4 sound
do you guys know if a performance cat will be available for the jeep renegade 1.4. or if you know what is compatible from the 500 Abarth to the renegade
@@wideabarth thanks for the response! Yeah the ending made me so happy that I subscribed! Oh and I found me one, idk how I feel about it being a vert though..
My Abarth is loud enough and sounds great, all of these cars sound great but which one is going to give me more HP/torque and not set off the CEL constantly.
Both a high flow cat and catless will likely set off your CEL. I switched to the high flow and that gave me one. However I have a flash tune now and that got rid of the CEL for the P0420 catalyst code.
Kevin Slowiak I think so. Since filming this video I have upgraded to the high flow. It’s basically the stock tone amplified. It’s significantly louder but there isn’t a bad drone imo.
ok so between the high-flow and the catless, the catless will be louder but with bad drone. while the high-flow is louder than stock but the drone is better than catless?? @@wideabarth
Kevin Slowiak in a nutshell, yeah. The cat less is even louder than the high flow. But I’d say with the high flow there is still that nice stock tone without it being insanely raspy and untamed.
Hey !!! GREAT JOB ! I have a question... I have a 500T... Should I keep the original exhaust or change it for an Abarth Exhaust ? I've seen they are pretty similar, so i don't wanna waste money
With a single exit on the 500T your exhaust would be quite a bit louder if you changed out the downpipe for one with less restrictions. Also because you don't have the t-bend that the abarth has (to make it a dual exhaust) you can shoot fireballs too if you run a bit rich. A couple of my buddies have T's and another with an auto abarth did a single exit conversion.
At the time he had the Madness V2 piggyback, not a flash tune. But it's not necessary. He and myself now both have the Euro+Drive Phase 2 Flash Tune from Eurocompulsion.
Yes it does, but it depends on how sensitive your car is. For some, they get a CEL immediately after installing a catless downpipe. For me, the CEL only pops up every 200 miles. I think an O2 sensor spacer will get rid of my CEL.
No way that what they did to that last dark gray abarth is street legal, please tell me it is tho, you say it affects emissions, will the car still be able to pass the car tests then if it's so much more polluting? Also what would it cost to make a stock abarth sound like the dark gray abarth? Thanks in advance!
Hi Minutemadex! Yes taking out the cat will make it illegal depending on your country and state. Taking out the catalytic converter in the downpipe will eliminate all cats because that's the only one in the entire exhaust system of the US Abarth. I'm interested as well if it will pass smog test as even without a cat, I think it's less polluting than most old american trucks or suvs. The catless downpipe that I got is by mpx which has the brackets for the stock heat shield and that will make me pass at least a visual inspection. Regarding cost, I paid around $200 for the decat pipe. Hope that helps :D
The high flow drone was very minimal. I daily drove with the high flow for about 4 years with no problem. I have a new catless setup but I haven’t installed it yet. I will report back with results.
PIck your poison, they all sound good. Plus consider all the other mods the non stock Abarths have, you have to consider how much tuning goes into adding a downpipe along with all the other mods.
