ABC promo feed (1979) - Ernie Anderson 

That's an iconic voice that I grew up hearing as a child,teenager and a young adult. Beautiful voice!!!!💛💛💛💛

Ernie's promo takes were quite often more entertaining than the shows themselves.

His voice brings back memories of my childhood.

Ernie Anderson. That voice was right up there with Casey Kasem. The Narrators of our childhood. Sublime. Thank You Ernie 📺⌛️🎙️😇

He was the voice that I remember as a child in the 1970s and the 1980s. He had a terrific voice!!! They don't even announce that way anymore.

It's neat to listen to him now as an adult and appreciate how he transitioned from light hearted comedy to suspenseful drama with ease, making it sound perfectly natural. What an amazing professional!

He was my favorite announcer when I was a kid. And he inspired me to go into radio broadcasting.

His voice was so perfect for whatever he was announcing. What a welcome voice into our homes in the evenings. But of course, his best line was...the loooooove boat.

The first one is from March 4, 1979, which happened to be the last day KMSP Channel 9 in Minneapolis was an ABC affiliate before going independent. They carried the Osmond show that night but not the Patty Hearst movie that followed. ABC switched affiliation to former NBC station KSTP Channel 5 the next day.

I worked at an ABC affiliate in the early 2000s, they were still doing their promo feeds then. I remember the production editor going through the recordings to pick out promos to edit and tag for local airing.

The way he puts some sass on it when he says "Whaaaaaat's happening!" is pretty funny.

I grew up off Mr. Ernie's voice.

Man, this was magical.

6:01 love how Ernie Anderson was making sure affiliates knew one of the segments wasn't to be broadcast.... "I said NOT FOR AIR!!!!" lol

So, tyvm for salvaging these promos from so far back. What's really crazy is that I remember all of these when I was a kid.

And in all those innocent years hearing that voice in our childhoods, who knew his son would go on to make Boogie Nights?

2:12 Promos for filmed shows often looked rough since they usually had to be cut from dailies, but even so... the quality of this Happy Days promo is just atrocious. I can't believe it got on the air that way.

Is there anywhere that the ABC Network Promo music beds from 77-79 can be found? I know that JAM Creative did a few of them but there were a lot of instrumental beds and cues that are great from that time period but I’ve only been able to hear snippets of them buried under dialog/action in fuzzy VHS clips.

@VPR2B I saw a brief "Come On Along with ABC" promo(campaign) that had a dog and Max I think and would like to know if you remember that promo.

I always wondered why these promos were taken from super dirty film prints. Bad telecine?

What's the point in even making a promo that is never meant to air? What else is it supposed to do?
