As a foreigner, I just don't get why Americans keep going to Rusia, expecting American laws to apply on foreign land, and if they get jailed for breaking local laws, or because Putin needs to free one of his buddies, they berate their government if they don't get released the next day. Like, it's a big world, why not go somewhere else? And if you so want to go, then don't expect others to pick up your mess when you find yourself in a Russian jail.

I wouldn't take the 1/2 % loss as imminent recession. There's other factors that contribute. One thing you have to think about is when you're already at or around 4% unemployment is how many jobs can your economy continue to make when you have higher interest rates to try to deter inflation...higher costing money generally slows people's borrowing and thus slows demand and one result beyond that is lower costing goods because there's less demand. One thing they can do is lower interest in small decreases to measure what if anything it does. I'm not discouraged at the slight increase. The fact that Wall Street is in any panic is due to their IMO over bullishness to begin with. So it could just be a necessary correction. But lower interest and it'll go wildly up again. I'm never too worried about a percent course correction or 1.25% correction, whatever it amounted to. I'd be more concerned if it were 5%. One other obvious thing you have to look at is what part of the year is it? August? What happens in August? Back to school and then what happens for businesses from basically the end of Aug through basically to October? People don't spend much money. So businesses don't usually hire as many going into this time of year. It's normal. Like I said it's not necessarily anything at all to think twice about. The only thing I'd caution is your spending if you're doing it with borrowed money.
