Sadulaev once wrestled a bear. After three days of agonizing pain from his injuries, the bear died.

He can sit the guy back for two. Similar to a chin whip

Its crazy that he sometimes choses chest lock over head and arm
@DPSBreakdowns
@DPSBreakdowns 2 года назад
Yes - does not use head & arm often & prefers the chest lock in most cases. He is more dynamic from the chest lock & can threaten exposure in multiple directions + still has his go-behind.

@@DPSBreakdowns in folk style, are there any scenarios where the chest lock is superior to the front headlock?

@@user-tv1tp2fr1u Every position has pros and cons man. With the front head you run into 101% of wrestlers have seen it before and have an answer to it.

@mübarək qardaş The funny thing is they've seen it, anyone who loves wrestling sees it and yet he bates the best wrestlers in the world with it every time and they have absolutely no answer for it.

Is there an honest evaluation as to what it is that just sets him so far above everyone? It's almost like it's more than brains, athleticism and power. In every video they try to make some sort of pursuit of him, its a trap. His career is illustrious and should be in every wrestlers study. His defense is his offense and it's terrifyingly brilliant

Absolutely well said. He seems to be a master of flowing from one key position to another. It's almost like he has charted fallback positions in such a way that he can funnel a wrestler in a seemingly dominant offensive position into a trap (as you said). I think he often uses the tunnel vision that his opponents have when they think they are about to score, makes a micro-adjustment, and then slips into a reversal. As a chest-wrap guy myself, I try to emulate this. It requires a lot of time spent in bad positions and feel. I think exposure to Judo, which forces you to develop a tactile understanding of where an opponent is structurally weaker, helps develop counter-wrestling positioning and throws immensely - and I'm sure Sadulaev's coaches (and Sadu himself) were exposed to similar philosophies because the Russian Judo, Freestyle, Greco, and Sambo communities are often the same dudes. This to the point that Russian Freestyle often looks like a hybrid.

Not saying sadulev isn't crazy strong, but this movement doesn't need much strength. Anyone athletic enough to do wrestling can do it. The lift element is not the arms, nor is it even the back, it is the leaning back. The opponent's momentum helps too.
@DPSBreakdowns
@DPSBreakdowns 2 года назад
The strength/power is real, but you're right that it is more than that. He has a really good intuition on which direction he can take his opponent based on factors like momentum and positioning - sometimes this is straight back & sometimes it is sideways. Of course he always has the go-behind option as well, especially when opp is focused on defending against the exposure risk. All of this makes defending against his chest lock very difficult.

Yeah I agree, he is great from there. A tough position to score from but he has many different ways he scores from that position.
