I forgot to bring out the basic phonics flash cards for this video and I highly recommend them. (Large cards) They have all the special sounds and clue words-sentenced-
for the special sounds. We use them for first grade and they will be used into 2nd grade as well.

Thank you for the thorough video! How long does a lesson typically take? Did the lessons take long in the beginning? Do you feel that this curriculum was multisensory for the phonics? Thank you 😊.

My child is working through it. He’ll work on it into second grade as well, after our Summer break. I’ll review it when it’s closer to being complete. I will say though, we still really like it and he’s becoming a stronger reader and speller.

Did all this come in a kit? Or purchased individually?

Is this the parent kit or the student kit? Do you feel like you need the parent kit thats like lover 400 dollars?

This is mostly parent Kit. The readers and the blend book come with the child kit. Personally I think the curriculum plans are a must. The basic phonics flash cards, which I’m not sure if I showed here, are very useful too, and we used them SO much. The others you can get away with not using but they really do add to the program and serve as a nice change of pace for memory work and keeping earlier learned concepts fresh, plus they are used until 2nd and some in 3rd grade. Hope that helps give a lil insight.

As far as, wether the complete parent kit is worth it...I’ll just say this, and this is only my opinion. I used the essential kit and added on the flash cards that I wanted but it would have been more cost effective for me to get the complete and sell off the stuff I didn’t want and then I’d be set up for buying the essential kits only in later grades after that.

Do you prefer Abeka over Logic of English foundations?

I’m having the most success with multiple kids with Abeka. So the short answer is Abeka because I can use for multiple kids and for many years into their elementary middle and high school years as a complete L.A and Math curriculum. think LOE is a great program and I recommend it all the time for anyone needing help with a kiddo who may have speech delay or parents that prefer a secular approach to learning. My daughter thrived using foundations A-D and for that season of life it was perfect for us.

@@LetTheMorningBringWord Thank you. We currently use it for my kiddo who couldn't sit and do a workbook. But have been looking into Abeka for my next kiddo. I just want a very firm foundation, my older kids did not get that. I have heard amazing things about Abeka, so debating staying with LOE or giving it a try. I still have 4 kids to teach to read. So I am open to new things🤣

@@HerChildrenCallHerBlessed I completely understand. Reading is the one area I’ve said okay we need to find what works for each kid and once they are fluent in reading we branch out if need be. I love literature based learning too and my kids love read-a-loud time.
