I think they're nice. Made in America with good quality at affordable prices is a good thing. We need more American made products that puts Americans to work.
I got a pair of Abilene Gunfighters a couple months ago. They're comfortable and seem high quality. The Gunfighter is also very unconventional for a cowboy boot, it's 19" tall and has a square toe but not an ugly one. It looks just like those civil war boots that cowboys wore in the old west.
My first pair of cowboy boots I bought as an adult were Abilene Boots. They were Elephant skin with kid skin shafts dark grey shaft with light grey lowers. Really nice and extremely tough boots. Of course that was about 35 years ago. Lol
Jeremiah, Nice review. I bought this pair of bison boots about five years ago. Within 6 months, the sole cracked on both boots across the ball of my feet. Contacted Abilene and they were no help. I had a cobbler replace the sole shortly after. He used a Vibram sole. I have been wearing them about every day since. I have replaced the heel cap three times. The upper has worn like iron. The cushy insole lasted about a year. Very durable. I hope that this helps...
Definitely helps! The whole reason why I make these videos is so people can decide which is the best boot for them and you sharing your experience is a huge help to others
Thanks for posting. And saving me a couple hundred dollars. I just started looking at these because I’m having a hard time finding snip toe boots. The majority are square toe, at least in the brands I like. I need a little more than 6 months before they fall apart.
I have those exact boots purchased from that exact store in that exact size OMG. The folks there really know their boots. Those Abilines are super comfortable and broke in perfectly. Most comfortable pair of cowboy boots I own.
So I bought these same boots on Amazon. $189. Would you just go with a double h american made for 30-35 more and get the leather inside and other upgrades? They fit very well I have only wore them maybe a full day and have noticed the rubber heel already has some wear. (Abilene). Thank you for your video's
Noted in the comments your response about packer boots. I have a pair of 10 inch Whites custom made. Been wearing them for 20 plus years. Had the leather sole replaced. Awesome boots and they are not warm at all. I lived in Redding CA which averages a 110 degrees in the summer months (May through October) not too hot. Much better than a sneaker.
I have a narrow foot and usually buy 8.5D-9D probably but the instep is usually never tight. I probably need a 8.5B. I’ve done a lot of things in order to make my boots fit including shrinking and putting cardboard cut outs under the removable insoles in a few of my boots. This will usually help but I never really get a true fit because there are not many options for a B in stores. If you can make the video on getting the proper fit with a narrow foot that you referenced in this video that would be great. Thanks and keep up the great videos
That is always the drawback. We can find boots that kind of fit but we always miss out in the arch and there's nothing I've been about to figure out that will change that except absolutely wearing the shit out of a pair until they eventually change. That takes a very long time though when we would've been much better off with a B width
Nice boots, oh yeah i have the narrow foot problem, finding the "perfect" fit is near impossible. if you want to make a video explaining your workarounds that would be cool to see if there is anything i haven't thought of yet.
Hi. Another Great Review! I Own Style 6469 in Black Cherry with Square Dress Toe. They are a Great Boot. And Made in USA in a Old John Deer Factury in PA.
JW Boot Company makes them with a high instep for a reasonable price. Check them out and talk to Blake at jwbootcompany.com. I have a promo code for 10% off with them too: JC10
Really fits is a tough thing to find for narrow width but I'm finding more and more options now. Just wait til fabruary, I'll be featuring a great B width!
I'v noticed something, there is two row stitching with piping on the shaft. And almost every cloth lining boots has this stitches, i wonder why? Leather lining boots doesn't have them, and cloth lining ariat doesn't have them to.
Your comment on narrow boots fitting. Recently bought two pair of Ariat boots because they come in 12 B. I am not impressed. I like the hard leather insoles not these cushioned insoles.
i have narrow feet and have to size down to 11 d in moonshine spirit, in your experience how long does it take to fully break in that little bit of snugness in the side of the boot around the pinky toe? its not super tight just a little snug and the boots are full grain leather :)
Jeremiah Craig thanks I’ve got faith in these boots! Would love if you made that video about your tips and tricks to sizing down for people with narrow feet, it’s always such a struggle for me to find a perfect boot!
I talk a little bit about my tips in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ESugSc6KROY.html but I have a narrow width video scheduled for later this year so it's coming!
Thank you for your review, I have been looking for a pair of Abilene boots. I have no experience with cowboys boots so I don't know if I have to wear the same size as my formal shoes or if I should upsize half a size to have the right fit. I intend to use normal dress socks, and my feet are narrow, slender, with a low instep and volume. I would appreciate your comments..
That wonderful boots.. I have question.. What is your foot length and width in millimeter? You some times using 11D and some time 10 1/2D...just i'm trying to find my size..
Hey Jeremiah those Double H boots in the corner the packer boots? Have you ever thought on trying something like a pair of packer boots? Cause those are western boots I would of figured you would like something from double h.
Yes they were. I took a quick look at them. I haven't tried anything like them before but I'd be willing to if there was interest in me making a video about them. I just don't have any experience with packer boots
Jeremiah Craig it’s easy but there lace ups they where meant for cowboys up northern areas like Wyoming,Utah,Montana, and any other cowboy up north. *These where the boots that kept your feet warm and stayed on your feet during riding and when a rider got off his boot will stay on and as said was very warm.* The packer boots do have a thicker layer of leather for the rider feet to keep him/her foot warm.
I bought my first pair of cowboy boots this last year. Tony Lama caiman and now a pair of ostrich on order. What are your favorite products to use on exotic skins? Thanks for your help.
Tony Lama Caiman is an awesome first pair! Nicely done! I use scout exotic conditioner on a regular basis with my Caiman and it works great. Takes a nice shine too!
That seems like a really cool boot, i wear size 11 in sneakers/tennis shoes which size do you think would fit me in the Abilenes? Size 10 1/2 D fit me pretty good in my Los Altos boots.
Saw this video about a month ago and tried ordering these boots but was told they have been discontinued. Can you recommend anything else like these…I like the texture, price, color and the made in America aspects. Thanks
Are there any updates on your custom pair of boots? Did you even get a custom pair? I don't know. I might be going insane. I really liked this video though.
Jeremiah can you help me out I'm trying to buy some Tony lama boots online. I know I my size I wear in Abilenes is 12ee, but in every other shoe I wear a 13, I just wanna make sure I get it right. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
@@carl-ok9gn yea I usualy get boulet boots they last alot longer and are made here in canada. I just got a new pair of black cherry boulets for christmas. But Abilene are still good boots though and I have only had 1 pair of abilenes so maybe I just got a pair that wasn't the best.
Hey Jeremiah, I've been having problems looking for my first boots and I'm watching this video because these are my ideal pear I've been looking at so far, however these boots lack the texture and design on the instep that makes the boot popm My problem is I don't want a leather sole because I make minimum wage and I don't have money to get my boots resoled every 3 years, and I'd like to ask does a rubber sole take away from the aesthetically pleasing look, because I don't want anyone to know I've got cheap rubber by looking directly at the heel or the toe, I myself and others want a rubber round toe sole near the same aesthetic of leather, and are there any relatively decent black or deep brown R toe or round toe boots with rubber soles as opposed to leather around the 150-175 dollar range with a more shouty instep stitching patterns, and at most a 14 inch shaft (I have a very wide 13 inch foot so I find it difficult to slip into boots with long shafts). Thanks, bang on
Abilene has 7" zipped boots . I have black and brown. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. They are soft leather and just plain comfortable. I have been wearing cowboy boots for over 35 years.
You're not saving money if they tear up twice as fast that just means you're spending money twice as often. I only buy used made before 1990 because they are affordable and last multiple lifetimes. And just because it's made in America doesn't make it good.
I agree. Country of origin doesn't mean good or bad. I like your strategy of buying boots but it's not for everyone and when you only have $150-$200 to spend on a new pair of boots, I always recommend Abilene over other companies like Ariat. I just like the build better and have had a great experience with them in the past
@@JeremiahCraig you can get all leather construction in many boots of better quality in that price range though and an all leather construction is more comfortable and more durable.
