For the people who CAN´T HEAR a SOUND when pressing a key... 1. KEY BOARD symbol in upper right corner needs to be ON 2. red record circle on the right side of the track needs to be ON 3. use 'x' and 'z'/'y' to change between octaves (some midis need a specific range for example C1 - D2) TRY SWITCHING UNTIL YOU HEAR SOMETHING because you might be in a wrong octave hope that helps:)

Hands down the best tutorial I've ever seen on RU-vid. Everything here is great. No long weird intro, no BS comments between explanations nor trying to be funny when the viewer just wants to learn. Also, high quality recording (sound & video) plus you did an excellent job in touching all the important stuff when it is right to reveal them, meaning - no running around between different subjects\features with no actual connection. everything is aligned. GREAT JOB!

i'm sure it will. if u don't mind - one tiny question about the Simpler. say i have one of those pre-shifted clap sounds. i would like to put a trigger to make Ableton know where the actual clap snap is... BUT i still want it to play what's before it (the pre-shifted sound). so far i see the trigger only determines the starting position of the wave sample while what's before it is grayed and unplayed. thanks in advance!

I'm here on my RU-vid account to show my friend what Ableton and Cubase are capable of and I notice that lots of people in the comments saying FL Studio is crap. Let me just iron something out as an owner of multiple DAWs (FL Studio Pro, Cubase Pro, Ableton 10 Suite, Pro Tools) and a person that only uses two of them (Ableton and Cubase). FL Studio 20 is great for beat making! I have a lot of RnB and Hip Hop artists in Australia that has been using it since it was called Fruity Loops. In fact back in 2001 when I was first introduced to PC music generation the first DAW my father got for me was Fruity Loops! It was a whole new world outside playing music with the school band and recording samples with a microphone and my mother's pots and pans with Microsoft record on Windows XP. I would say its a GREAT first buy for kids learning music creation as it has all the bits and bobs + some sick plugins to start without having to spend shit tonnes extra to break the bank as it has free updates for life.

So do you use other DAWs because you don't want to or can't buy the higher versions of live or are other DAWs just generally better for certain things. I'm debating saving up for the higher packages?

I'm 17 mins in and my mouth has been open just staring in disbelief that I found a tutorial that's this well-made and with such an intuitive progression... first tutorial I've ever watched on youtube that I'm able to follow despite knowing almost nothing on the topic beforehand. Can't thank you/praise you enough. (who on earth would hit dislike on this video..... bitter/resentful competing tutori-trolls? *shakes head*)

I can’t thank you enough for this video. I’m normally a ProTools user but I picked up Ableton so I can get more into sequencing. The interface was completely foreign to me and I tried so many videos but nothing helped. Then I stumbled upon this magical video and it was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much

What a ridiculously useful tutorial, thank you so, so much! I recently jumped from Reason to Ableton and tried to just figure it out as I go. But there was a lot of stuff I was wondering about, as Ableton is very different from Reason. And what I quickly realize is how much thought has been put into workflow in Ableton, it's really impressive with all the double click here, click and drag there, set parameters here etc. I also went "ahhhh", "Waaow!", "For real??!", "OMG!" at all the useful features you carefully explain in a very effective way. I can often get impatient watching tutorials like this. Especially newbie tutorials. But you explain WHY you do certain things, show us HOW you do it, and sprinkle with examples, providing more context to help retention. Perfect audio and clear voice as well. Thanks again, you've saved me a lot of time and frustration, and I will share this tutorial with anyone wanting to learn Ableton in the future.

I just made the switch from Ableton to Reason (not switched fully, just putting my mind towards learning Reason). What made you switch?
@PrebenFrenning
@PrebenFrenning 5 лет назад
@@MYNAMEISKLAY The deep integration of the Push 2 with Ableton, effectively allowing me to make music without looking at a screen. That was the original main appeal. And then there's the way of jamming with loops I also really like, as I sometimes can feel a bit stuck in Reason's workflow. And the next-level sampling capabilities of Ableton are also nice. But I am in no way leaving Reason completely. I'm not having as much fun with sound design and arps in Ableton as in Reason, so I'm slaving it now for double goodness 😎 But I think arranging in Ableton feels more natural and "hands-on", so slaving Reason for it's massive sounds and amazing arps is working really well so far. Another thing is that Reason is kind of an underdog, so I feel that only knowing Reason can limit collaborating a bit. I'm learning to improve my workflow in Reason as I'm discovering features in Ableton too. And I also think it's just nice to have different workflows for different moods and genres :) So tl;dr: Reason is great. And also a great slave. But Ableton has a workflow that might be better suited to my style, as well as more handy workflow details than Reason currently has.
@MYNAMEISKLAY
@MYNAMEISKLAY 5 лет назад
@@PrebenFrenning I agree with everything you said. I've noticed that Reason doesnt really have a good sampler, so I'll have to switch between the two when I need sampling done, but Reason just seems more fun to learn and experience. Learning how to pair effects in the rack, using the cables, etc is just amazing, but it definitely has its limits. I believe that we are a step ahead, as we have both DAWs to lean on when the other is limited. Good luck on your musical journey, brother!
