Man, I love these videos. Not videos with a lot of "advertising" and so many things; just people explaining and knowing what they are doing, not just "THIS EFFECT IS THE ARTIST'S EFFECT" These are tutorial. Great job! (the Resampled Reverb is what I was searching and is awesome, I love this effect. Thanks!)

For those interested in recreating that first sound, in the oscillator A tab change the following: - Attack to around 1s - Sustain to -inf - Waveform to SquareD And ofcourse copy the settings for the filter tab from the video. It's not exactly the same, but it is as close as i could get it.

It seems like he got really enlightened on some intense journeys. So calm and peaceful, really enjoy watching him explaining anything, which he does in an amazing way. Thank you !
@linusbrendel
@linusbrendel 8 лет назад
Another technique that you can use instead of the third technique is the following: - take a sample and create a copy, which you reverse. apply reverb onto that reversed sample and record it. - take only the release of the reverb (when the sound stops and the reverb still goes on) - reverse it again and then place it in front of the original sample.
@linusbrendel
@linusbrendel 8 лет назад
+RequiemInnocence (レクイエムイノセンス) Take a sample. Let's say you've recorded someone saying "Hello". Now you reverse it (It will sound something like "olleH"). Add reverb onto the reversed sample and export it as a sound file. Checkpoint: We have two sample files - One of a plain (dry) recording of someone saying "Hello". - Another of something sounding like "olleHhhhh..." (because of the reverb). Got it? Good. Onto the next part. Now you take that second sample and remove everything except for the end (the tail so to say), so you have "hhhh...". Reverse this again, so you have "...hhh". Checkpoint: We have two samples: - One of a plain (dry) recording of someone saying "Hello". - One of something sounding like "...hhhh" Final bit: Now you simply place that second sample in front of the first sample, giving you "...hhhhHello".
@linusbrendel
@linusbrendel 8 лет назад
Some additional tips: Assuming your placement is perfect, you shouldn't really have to need to crossfade the two samples, however you may consider doing so if it sounds strange. Don't create only one reverb sample. Make multiple with different reverb settings, so that you can easily try out different ones without having to redo all of that again.
@linusbrendel
@linusbrendel 8 лет назад
+RequiemInnocence (レクイエムイノセンス) My pleasure. ;-)

@stromkraftnet
@stromkraftnet 8 лет назад
+Linus Brendel , That's a great variation. But there's no need to export audio audio at all. You can more easily record PostFX or resample. The former is better IMHO.

Speaking of compressed reverb, I love to sidechain certain sounds (like BD's) over LONG ass, thick reverbed crashes, claps, snares etc. Its the best way I've found that lets you go mad with the reverb without losing ANY of the hard punch of the drums (or whatever your sidechaining into it). It has to be done using Sends/Returns though, otherwise you're gonna end up messing with the signal causing the reverb (which will mess up the reverb itself). Best for bass & beats heavy music.

The last tip is great but there is a better way for doing this demonic preverb kind of reverb: 1.reverse your sample/midi 2. apply reverb, adjust length, make it 100% wet 3. record to an audio track - be sure to record until all the reverb is gone 4. reverse your original sample/midi section back to normal 5. reverse your recorded reverb 6. adjust the placement of recorded reverb/automate volume/add effects voila

@Jaspertine
@Jaspertine 8 лет назад
You can argue that it's technically a Ring Modulator, but when it's running at such a low frequency, it'd more commonly be known as Tremolo, at least among guitarists.
@DroneStarSound
@DroneStarSound 8 лет назад
+Jaspertine It's actually just AM - Amplitude Modulation - (which Tremolo also is), not RM... Ring Modulation requires a specific circuit topology that combines two signals in a certain way instead of just modulating one with the other (in the simplest of terms). But, yeah, just being a hater. :D
