The right to life of an individual vs The right to deter crimes from happening for the protection of the society. It is always a battle between these two rights where we have to strike a balance among them.
@@Noname-dr1jm not necessarily because it depends on the citizens and their collective mindsets. But for generations, fear is what maintains order among societies. By showing the fear of death order is maintained. Therefore it is necessary for now, but this may change as society gets more evolved and when we reach a state where nobody will ever think of doing unlawful acts. That is where deterrence stops and peace prevails making it unnecessary. We are far from that as many may still entertain the idea of committing crimes although they don't necessarily act on it.
@@arvinpillai681for generations it is known for a fact that even experts may conclude things which are mostly inaccurate. Deterrence has its effect on the whole of society. The media further exacerbates it via dissemination. I am not against experts but opine that inaccuracies are possible. Deterrence is much needed in our locality more than anywhere given that recent crimes proves it further.
