What do beta blockers have to do with performance anxiety? What does it mean to fit in with an orchestra? In the seventh episode of the podcast "about music," conductor Alan Gilbert and host Michail Paweletz (Tagesschau) talk about their experiences. Paweletz played violin in orchestras before his television career; Gilbert also used to play violin and viola, including for the Philadelphia Orchestra, and still performs as a chamber musician. Both ultimately chose other careers, but their fascination with being an orchestral musician remains.
