I never boring to see your video. no need to upgrade many part just tuning original part and used superb skills to control a car Great job brother your are my inspiration.
I wanted to prove that spending a lot of money and making complicated modifications is not always necessary. I would be very happy if you could help me understand this😊
Great video 😁 its nice to see proof that all these expensive and time consuming mods you see on here, while fun to do, are not necessary if you have sick driving skills 🤙
Thanks‼️ I am very glad you understand😊 Expensive modifications do not make you better at drifting. What matters is just a few modifications and a lot of practice.
Thanks for this video, driving skills and simple tuning without bring a buck will make drifting easier and less expensive. For now i will invest in getting a great body shell for this car!
I hope this is useful to you😊 If you are going to spend money, I think it should be spent on Radio mods. That is the most effective mod that will improve performance.
So it's not about how expensive your car but it's absolute depend on the man behind the wheel... Man you don't even need gyro. Great vid btw somple yet impactful.
C'est une très bonne vidéo ; merci . Je drift aussi avec ma K989 d'origine (pas besoin de la 969) . J'ai juste graissé les roulements et engrenages :-)
@@studio55-jp thanks i have ordered the kyosho 8.5 and 11mm tyres. I noticed in the later videos you change the tyres are the kyoshos ok? I also got the Wide 1.0 Offset and the Narrow 3.5 Offset rims. Never tried drifting before so looking forward to Learning.
Awesome video. I have just got a K989 and now I’m trying to drift it without any tuning at all just to see how far can I push the stock K989 in the sea of upgrades :))
@@studio55-jp yeah, the only thing that I found annoying with the stock K989 is it’s tyre. It would randomly picking up grip, causing the car to have some unpredictable behaviors when drifting. I have to keep the throttle really high in order to prevent the tyre from picking up too much grip
@@lenghi5045 One possible contributing factor to the randomness of the grip is the suspension. Following Beaver's video can improve it, though not completely. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QAGTXo70MmU.html
@@studio55-jp done the diff lock. It works great thank you. Not perfect since i use my business card instead of card board. Please can you kindly provide link as where did you purchase magnet plastic plate and front weight plate? How did you attached the weight in the front? Thank you very much.
Abank Abe I bought the plastic plate, magnet and weight at the DIY store. You can substitute a familiar item for the weight. For example, bolts, nuts, magnets, etc. Adhesive uses double-sided tape or hot glue.
@@studio55-jp getting the K989 soon so im gonna make it into a drifter since i already got a M05 for touring, Slash for some offroading and just need something i can drift in my apartment
Thank you great video! I am struggling to find the wheels and tires (or even something comparable). You wouldnt happen to have a link or insight as to where I could purchase them?
Thanks😊 Tires can be purchased from the link provided in the video description. My rim seems to be discontinued. Please look for your favorite one with "rcMarT" etc. I think "GL Racing" is also good.
Hi, did you use a lubricant spray like wd-40 or something like that on the floor to make smooth drift? my friend told me to use lubricants on the floor to make a smooth drift. Thanks before 😄
Great vids! Do you think the staggered wheel/tire sizes make a difference opposed to being all narrow? Sorry if you mentioned this before, but I couldn't find an answer in your other vids. Thanks!
Thanks😊 All my K969's have narrow tires. I haven't done an exact comparison, but I don't see a huge difference. When I decide on a tire width, I am more concerned with matching the body width than the grip balance.
if you didn't change the tire into drift ones, will you still be able to drift? i just bought 284131, the tires are not slick. It's very hard to drift. I wonder if it's my skill or i actually need to change to slick tire 😅
@@studio55-jp aha ok so this is my first problem with this car 😅 coz everytime i lower the throttle when turning, the car just stops 😄 i doesn't want to spin at all
@@azkanand5832 There are many different types of drifting. If you want to drift on a dirt surface like a rally car, it is not impossible to drift with grip tires. But if you want to do so-called "RC Drift" it is impossible without using drift tires.
@@azkanand5832 My video is a tutorial for such people. It explains how to make WLtoys easier to drift with simple modifications, but at the same time it is the minimum required.
Hi, when I remove the suspension spacer, my chassis plate is touching the ground. (Maybe because I have the 284131 model). How far is your bottom plate from the ground? I'll try to print smaller spacer, but definitely cannot remove them entirely...
The ground clearance of my K989 is about 2.5mm. However, this may not be helpful because my current K989 has had the ESC and other electronic parts replaced. There are two possible reasons why it touches the ground. 1. 284131 is heavier than K989 because it has LED lights and front and rear diffusers. 2. the suspension and arms do not work well. This can be solved by following Beaver's video. You may want to try this one. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QAGTXo70MmU.html
Hey man!!! Great video! Just got the same car and tuned it the same way. I have no experience but I just noticed that it's really HARD to learn how to drift like u. Do u think the surface makes a difference?
Hawx Won I think that is probably because the movement of the lower arm is not smooth. Try disassembling it to remove burrs, and adjust it so that it moves smoothly.
Oh yes. Yesyesyesyesyesyesyes. I'm hopefully getting this for Christmas and I'm gonna see if I can learn how to drift like you! Just one question, do the cones come with the car??? I already have a few but it would be nice to get proper ones. Also I noticed you use lego for obstacles great choice lego is the best :D
Releasing the throttle means applying the brakes. In other words, it is normal for the tires to stop. If it doesn't, and you mean to smooth out the moving parts, you may want to refer to Besver's Hobby video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TnhriaSSfSA.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QAGTXo70MmU.html
@@studio55-jp btw great videos. I love watching these. I've the k969 so i don't have to lock the diffs but after seeing your videos i want to buy this car body haha 🤣
As you can see in the video in the link below, I think the Radio Mod is the most effective of all the mods. I believe that the transmitter alone can be effective. However, I think it is difficult to find transmitters that can be linked to stock ESCs. So I would recommend replacing the transmitter, receiver, and ESC all together if possible. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BSdXZqcM_ps.html
The damper stroke is extended when the spacer is removed. As a result, the road surface followability of the tire is improved. The better the followability, the more traction is applied.
I've followed you on Instagram for a long time I didn't know you had a RU-vid channel I just subscribed I just picked up the wltoys and they all wheel drive mini z any recommendations on parts for the mini z like you did for the wltoys?
I don't own a MINI-Z, so I don't know the details, but I would recommend FOW (for AWD MINI-Z). Thank you for subscribing. There are videos on Instagram and RU-vid channels that are only posted on each, so we hope you enjoy both😊
Your transmitter looks WAY different than my WL Toys. Mine is the same as the 959b that I have. The 2 in 1 receiver looks different as well? Is yours more precise???
Great video dude! I have a WLtoys 284161 and it is an awesome buggy however there is something I noticed about it. Whenever I turn the wheel full throttle and not, it tends to cut 20% of its power from the motor. Is that normal since this is my first hobby grade RC. Whenever I go full throttle, it has no issues at all but when I turn the wheel the motor tends to cut some of its power. Is this a transmitter issue or just a feature of the RC itself? The 284161 I have has the same transmitter as the 284131 and 284010 (at least I think with the 010 model.) It would be great to know if this is a problem or not, a feature or some side effect. I have been trying to trim down the speed for the younger siblings to play it but in the end it doesn't want to move whenever they hit the throttle then steer to the left or right.
Thanks. I do not own a 284161 so I do not know the details. The EPA setting on the transmitter is fine, correct? If turning the steering wheel causes a loss of power, there may be some resistance in the drivetrain. For example, the drive shaft (dog bone), arm, etc. may be interfering somewhere when the handle is turned too far.
@@studio55-jp I see, thank you for that. If your k989 doesn't experience any throttle loss when turning while on power it means that mine might be binding. I will try to clear the places that needs to be cleaned and see if it will improve anything. This is my first RC build honestly and i would like to know what causes the binding. Whenever I do throttle slightly the car does struggle to start even with half the throttle trim. It stops running when I turn the wheel with it as well. I appreciate the insight
@@studio55-jp the EPA is at full. I can hear the motor turning but the wheel is not spinning when applying 20% throttle while the trim for the speed is at full so it might actually be the bond. It gets worse when I turn the wheel. I tried removing the wheels and it still struggles to run even off the floor and just on some platform. It would be useful if I know what to trim or fix cause I am not expert on RCs by any means.

The most important thing in choosing a Rim is to choose "for MINI-Z AWD". Other rims cannot be used because the hub shape is different. The mainstream diameter is 20mm, but there are also 22mm. Please choose according to your preference. However, of course, the tire and rim diameters must be the same. As far as I know, there are few types of 22mm tires. So I'm using 20mm. Also, offset must be considered when choosing a rim. If you want to talk more, please send me an Instagram PM.
I have a weird problem, I can do right hand drifts nicely, but on left hand ones it tends to doughnut, even with the exact same throttle and turning angle, everything is stock except the servo arm mod and the preload clips removed, any ideas? Nice vid btw.
Make sure all wheel nuts are not overtightened or loosened. Also, try adjusting the steering trim. If you would like to talk more, please send us an Instagram PM.
I let my kid play with mine and one of the ball joints on top of front right suspension arm broke. Just thin plastic so dont know how to fix it. Quite sad cos it was drifting great with just a bit of tape on the tyres
@@studio55-jp yeah, mine came with a metal pinion on the motor, with i think 27t. Then in the pinion bag, there are another 4 plástic pinions(12t,15t,19t and 20t i think) some say that the 15t one is the best for 1.93 gear ratio. How many t does your pinion have?
@@newnocski I think it's 27T. As I said earlier, I'm not doing anything other than what the video explains. That is, the gear has not changed. (Stock state) Also, since my K989 is an early model, all gears are made of plastic. (I think the K989/969 currently on sale has been changed to metal due to a specification change)
@@studio55-jp thank you very much. Im starting on this 1/28 drift world and your videos are very enjoying. Thanks a lot and keep the good work. Máster!
Simply put, the torque increases and the rear tires become slippery. If you want to know more, you first need to know the basic features of the differential. The basic functions and diff locks of the differential are basically the same as those of 1/10 scale cars and actual cars, so please search the Internet.
@studio55 great skills! Can you make another tutorial with markers showing the neutral positions of the throttle and steering? Will be very helpful for beginners like me learning how to drift with wltoys cars.
It's very difficult to create the tutorial you want. I can't come up with a good idea to make the throttle movement easier to understand than this video. Also, I think it's easy to understand the amount of steering movement by looking at the spokes on the steering wheel. In the first place, the amount of movement is not something you can see and remember. You will develop a sense by practicing repeatedly.
@@studio55-jp Thanks for the reply. May i ask why there is a need to keep "pumping" the throttle? For example, isn't it easier to maintain a donut by keeping the throttle constant while just adjusting the steering?
@@polysheep Before answering your question, I want to ask you the same question. Can you keep a donut of the same size while keeping a constant throttle?
@@polysheep Ideally, you can maintain the donut with a constant throttle. However, the road surface condition is not always constant, and the grip force changes. Therefore, it is necessary to fine-tune the throttle. I'm not "pumping" the throttle, I'm "adjusting" it to the road conditions. Donut turn is an exercise to get a sense of the throttle adjustment.
Thanks for the video Very nice explanation I also want to buy. I think what is better between K969 or K989 FOR DRIFT ?? I know the K969 rear differential comes locked AND DRIFT TIRE IN STOCK what you think?
Yaniv Oz I hope you find it useful. K969 and K989, I think you can choose the one you like. K989 has to lock the rear differential and buy drift tires, but K969 doesn't have to, so it's easier.
Yaniv Oz It's not that difficult, so it should be fine. However, the parts are very small, so care must be taken to avoid damage and loss. Does "dip" mean "ESC"? If so, it won't break.
okky adams It is difficult to answer that question… We have been driving a 1/10 scale drift car for a year. Thanks to that, I was able to run immediately. If we had no experience at all, it could have taken between six months and a year.
Jacob Haley I don't own K969, but I think K969 is perfectly fine. Because the chassis of K969 and K989 are basically the same. The main difference is the rear diff gear, and the K969 is a solid diff, so there is no need to lock it. So I think K969 is more suitable for drift.
@@studio55-jp cheers for responding. Was thinking about getting the k989 but I'll need to buy drift tires to get a better experience so k969 is stating to look like a better option.👍🏼
