Rosalind, a vernacular working fish boat built in St. Ives by William Paynter, has had a long and well traveled life. Now she's being rebuilt in Mystic, Connecticut by Andrew Guest, a shipwright who had already been thinking about building a lugger when he found this one in a state of disrepair in Oxford, Maryland. This is the story of her restoration so far, as of late summer, 2019.

Came here from Leo's Sampson Boat Co. channel. Would love to hear more of Rosalind's history and why you have bravely taken on this mammoth task of preserving this special piece of Cornish history. The likes of you, Leo, Doug (SV Seeker). Mads (Sail Life), Damian & Jess (Project Brupeg), Scott (Six Points Wood Work), Stephen and Alix (Acorn to Arabella) & Garrett and Ruth (Salt & Tar) are all inspirational people, who show us mere mortals just what is possible when you dare to try!

Good stuff Andrew, Rosalind is looking very handsome and it's great to see a bit more of what's going on! You might want to put a link to your Patreon in the video description.

A safe haven for wooden boats to find new life. That thought makes me smile every time. I look forward to your future videos about Rosalind and that amazing boatyard!

I so wish I could help support this rebuild. But alas, I am disabled and have a rather low fixed income (approx. $770/month) that is the total of my wife and I's income. I would like to see many more videos, but I know they take time away from the rebuild. Progress is looking good so far.

Rosalind of st ives Cornwall , the last lugger built on the beach at st ives , owned by Richard Griffiths , I visited Mystic Seaport with. his sister for the festival about 15 years ago , knew him well and am so pleased to see she is being restored , have been looking for her for some time , we tried to interest the ST Ives Cornwall council into bringing her back to st ives when Richard came over and stayed with us , but no joy ! I would like to come over at some time and see progress , good luck with all you are doing Brian JD Preece

Hello Brian, and thank you for this comment and for sharing your connection to Rosalind. We're looking for contacts over in St Ives and Cornwall in general who would have an interest in this boat and want to follow her restoration. Spread the word! It really helps. Thank you.

Leo sent me! If you don’t mind I have a question doesn’t it feel like you are building a new boat? I don’t know what it is but there’s something about what you men are doing saving old wooden boats that’s romantic/ no homo as my son would say
