Each time you progress to a new section, and then a new grade, it gets more interesting as you build on the knowledge! Enjoy. Thank you for the comment.😊🎶
Hi Sharon, thanks for doing these videos; I've completed this workbook, and have now revised Grade 1 Theory for the first time since 1983! I remembered most of it except beaming and a bit of terminology. A good way to spend lockdown! I won't be sitting any theory exams but it will help with my trumpet playing, and playing in a brass band. Onto Grade 2!
Thank you so much. I'm so pleased that my videos can be of help to you. Learning for it's own intrinsic value is surely the best way! There's no doubt that a better understanding of the music you play will help to inform your performance at a deeper level. Enjoy!
Well done. Grade 1 is a massive book - it's all the foundation that everything else is built on. Grade 2 is a little shorter; you need all of grade 1 info, plus the extra bits now in Grade 2. Enjoy your studies 😊
I really recommend that you work through some past exam practice papers for your revision. It really helps you be super ready for the exam. You could do one or two papers just as an exercise and look up anything you need to - then take some papers as a mock exam. I've worked through exam papers from 2014 right up to 2019 :D
@@jujukharz7911 If you want to study in lockdown I've worked through each exercise to help you so you can study at home. Whenever you're ready it's all on-line for you :) Keep your spirits up!!
Hi Sharon! Firstly just wanted to say thank you for making these videos. I developed a massive mental block towards theory, and found myself unable to progress past a Grade 2 ABRSM practice book for over 6 years; it was incredibly distressing! :) Discovering your channel is a big relief, and I feel motivated enough to finally get on track with my goal of sitting a Grade 5 exam. Are there any prerequisites to sitting a Grade 5 theory exam (besides Grade 1-5 theory knowledge)? Would I need to do have completed Grade 1, 2, etc. prior? Thanks again, I wish I found you earlier. :D
I'm so pleased to hear that my videos have helped to re-kindle your interest and progress in music theory. Thank you so much for letting me know. I do hope that you can now actually enjoy your studies. As far as prerequisites - none 😊. However, you might want to try and take an exam in an earlier grade, just to see how the test works, before you take Grade 5. However, this isn't stricty necessary. Best wishes for your studies.
I am still active. I release a music related Vlog every Sunday morning and I'm currently working on the new Discovering Music Theory series - I hope to have it available this summer.
