I can testify. A few years ago I had a sebaceous cyst on the back of my head. Proportionally, it was a bit smaller then hers, but every bit as uncomfortable. The initial lance was a huge relief. It took at least 20 minutes to drain and, yes, it smelled terrible. The doctor kept checking that I was okay but I just said "Keep going, it feels fine." Two days later, you would never know anything happened.
I'm so happy it was an abces and not cancer. Such a loving as and gentle cow. Thank you for taking good care of her and seeing she gets back to being healthy. God bless you. 🙏
I'm a pimple popper but that eww! I helped on my sister's farm and that is one of the most stinky, gag smelling jobs lol. God bless you and be carefull.
I truly appreciate how gentle and compassionate you are with your herd. Your knowledge and how you show how to approach these situations is helpful to those who may find themselves in this predicament. Waiting days for a vet could be devastating. I myself like watching and learning.
What compassion? He didnt sterilize anything, he cut into s lump which could have been cancer, he didnt remove the sack and hr never once mentioned the cow's distress level. He was merely just saving his investment. Pretty crappy "farmer" imo
Cows live in a setting rife with bacteria. From the RU-vid videos I’ve watched he followed the same procedure a vet would. And, of course, any farmer pays attention to the cost of things on their farm. It’s a cost/benefit ratio, just like all of do throughout our lifetimes. Farmers have a vested interest in their cattle, their land and practices that are profitable in the best sense of the word.
@@hitekredneck109 he’s not a vet so likely can’t remove the sack if it’s a cyst, an abscess I don’t believe have sacs. He said the vet was coming in the Monday. He simply was relieving the pressure/pain and maligning sure it didn’t cause compression on her brain while waiting for the vet to get there. He also flushed and gave antibiotics which provide great pain relief if there’s infection causing it.
@@hitekredneck109 I come from a long line of farmers. This guy was fantastic and very compassionate. You obviously have not lived in this type of environment and have never raised cattle.
Looks like lump jaw. Cancer doesn't grow that fast but an abscess will. Hope she's doing better. She's a beautiful cow. Nice and clean and looks like she's well taken care of. Hope you post the update on the cow's recovery.
@@bobbythompson3544Oh of course but that's how they get the views. There are many RU-vidrs that's use false thumbnails. I don't think this was one of those because who knows may be cancer. But people who generally watch these animal abscesses know it's lump jaw. But there always a chance it could be cancer
Did anyone see him spray that blue stuff on her face where he cut it? He didn’t clean it before he sliced it so I don’t know. Pretty big incision to not treat it with something to at least keep the flies out of it.
I can't believe how calm she was. When you started complaining about the smell my daughter laughed maniacally. I wish someone would offer to let my kids get up close view in the splash zone. It would be learning experience. 🤣🤣🤣
@@maddmavic When you say that something smells like death it means is pretty really really bad. The smell of an actual rotting dead body is nothing that I have words for. It's the worst putrid smell you can imagine. I've been pondering for 10 mins and I just have no words. But it's a smell you'll never forget. Most people that deal with death will put a small dab of Vicks under their nose to cut the smell a bit. As for liquids in an abscess there are 3 types or a combination of 2 or more. There's serous fluid, that is like what is inside blisters and has no smell. Then there's sanguineous fluid which is blood and has a slight smell but not a bad smell. Then there's purulent and that is pus. Pus has a strong smell buy also depends on a few factors. Pus is made up of a few things but mostly white cells that were sent to the area to fight the bacteria The bacteria that is present does smell and it's not a nice smell. It can be quite putrid. It can make some sick to their stomach and others not. Hope this helps
@@maddmavic It's a mix of several things. A small portion of the pus is dead tissue. Most of it is dead white & red blood cells mixed with the bacteria.
It amazes me how much work you Ranchers have to do with you cattle. I do enjoy seeing how you all care for your animals. Poor cow, can you imagine the relief she felt when you cut into the wound.
No, they don’t have to do this! Vets are here for that. He even doesn’t wear gloves and put no disinfectant on the cow before lencing. Try to do this to your dog, police will come quickly for cruelty but these poor farm animal have any voice to protect them for farmers who play vets to keep money in their pockets!
@@murielvaillancourt3855 .....as passionate as you think you are being, you are coming across mostly ignorant,..... ain’t that much money in solo ranching.
I watch your vids because of your compassion and love for these animals who are in pain and i am sure they are relived you helped them, AND brings back my faith in humanity.
🤣🤣 Your reaction is priceless!! Isn’t that what they call “ lump jaw”? If you had waited for the Vet, the bacteria could easily get in her blood and it would be so much worse! I hope she is doing better now! Good job!
Excellent piece of on the spot surgery. It was almost therapeutic to watch how the pus drained out of the infected area. Very satisfying for the cow to be relieved of constant pain.
I worked EMS and had to deal with decomp smell, which trust me, stays with you. I learned quickly to carry Vicks Vapor rub with me, jic. Put it under your nose to mask smells. Helps enough to not make you gag. I'm glad she doesn't have cancer and has gotten much needed relief!🥰
I've never been privy to that particular smell, blehhh. But did have the misfortune of being one of the first out at a train vs vehicle. (Trying not to be graphic here) ...I had never smelled blood before, not like that anyway. It is THE only only smell that has ever made me gag. Don't know if Vicks would have helped that, but it does help a lot with some odors. 🌞
@kellyjoiner4418 it should. Yes, that metallic kind. Sadly, it can be overwhelming in some cases. My nightmare was always a plane or bus accident and had to deal with 2 incidents involving planes, and only a minor bus, THANK GOD! It was after the last incident involving planes (plural) that I left EMS altogether.
I dont blame you. I will pray for healing in your life. I understand that an experience like what you are talking about can change a person. May God bless your compassionate heart...
@@ladyliberty5771 Although I've never been involved with a "mass" event, I can understand your decision. It takes a toll on a person. I hope that you're happy doing whatever it is that you're doing now. 🌞
It doesn’t take much. A kick to the jaw. A roll in the briars. You did the right thing. Open it up, let it drain. Some use a tool to go in and run around to pull out ant more solid stuff. Good job.
Every cow is different. Some understand you are trying to help them and some run for the hills when they see you a mile away. It is nice when the ones that need you most are calm.
You feel for your animals. That's really great! I don't enjoy the puss but I do love the care you provide. Well thank you for all you do! God Bless you too
Hell yeah dude. I'm not a vet, but a vet tech student. That looks like something similar to strangles in a horse. Drain it and see what happens from there. I love the way that farm owners are willing to just go for it and try their best to figure it out.
I've watched several videos like this & I'm impressed how farmers know so much about vet med. On the other hand, only one farmer so far wore gloves. Good for him.
Since you said it stinks, so glad this isn't a "scratch and sniff" video, lol. She was very calm. Animals tend to know when you're trying to help them. Thank God you saw it before it got to her brain. So glad she got the relief she needed and is on the mend.
I have huge respect and admiration for you in what you do for these animals. She is a beautiful cow and most likely would have suffered greatly without your help. Kudos to you and thank you!
Love to see that the cow suddenly realizes "Oh, wait a minute. He's fixing my problem." And it's interesting that the sound from 5:16 to about 5:26 is like when you squeeze an empty ketchup bottle trying to get the last of it out. And yeah, it's definitely something I want to watch, I'm one of those pimple popper fans. Pimple, abscess, in-grown toenail, you name it and I'll watch it. I find it fascinating.
I don't watch these videos because I think it's cool or fascinating, I actually watch them to see the cows getting huge relief from issues such as these. People don't realize just what cows actually go through in their lives, imagine having an abscess like that on your face, but also imaging how good it felt to have all that pressure released from your face.
It is great to see you guys taking care of your Cows. As some of the Horror shows on "Animal Rescue" shows us the other side. The Uncaring people who ignore their Animals and let things Fester until it's too late and the poor Animal has to be put down. I wish every Owner of Animals would be as caring and careful as you! Keep up the good work. And with an Abcess comes a what l call a plug, it can be the size of a pea or a Jelly bean or a Plum but once that hard mass comes out and you clean and rinse out the pocket or void left by the fluid it pretty easy to cure it with Antibiotics. I've taken quite a few Feral cats to the Vet for Abcess's and while they are being treated l have them Spayed or Neutered to help cut down on the Feral cat population we have as l live next to a "Wildlife" Sanctuary or a 2 acer-plot/vacant Lot...that the city owns.
You are an Angel 😇, thank you so much for all your doing for the cow's and other animals you tend to ,I do appreciate learning from you ,blessing to your family and a face shield ,is something you might want to invest in,even though the nasty stuff didn't splatter on your head area ,there may come that day where you will need one ,u probably already have one,I'm a new subscriber to your great chanell...thanks again,it's not an easy job...
I just woke my whole family up laughing so hard at this … “ this is what y’all want to watch”. - Thank you for having the knowledge to help this heifer .
Definitely seems like an abscess. Not nearly as gross as I thought it would be. 😅 What I found most interesting was that the animal didn’t appear to be in too much pain. Thankfully! The washing with the hose part is always a tad odd. 😅 But the abscess was so big it created a pouch under the skin. Which now could be cleaned. 👍 I’m going to assume that if the bump were tough, it might have been something much worse. Thank you for sharing. 👍
Well, glad it was a stinky rather than terminal. Just glad you don't mind the occasional necessity. Also glad you don't mind sharing. For the ones who don't think beyond the end of their nose, wonder what they would do if they got hurt, no doctor, no way to get to one, & a serious infection set in. Would they "lmao" as they waited for their temperature to fry their brain ?? Or use the knowledge you just shared and basic common sense to try to survive. I'd invite Hope to my team any day.
When I was a kid I had a horse that had the same thing, turned out he got kicked and the bruise turned into an abscess. Glad to see the girl got the treatment she needed.
