EQUIPMENT
Tubular cradle duplex frame, oil damped telescopic forks, swing arm with two coil over oil damped shock absorbers, chrome mudguards front and rear, twin chrome mirrors, chrome side repeaters, side reflectors, chrome rear light shroud, speedometer, tachometer, odometer, tripmeter, turn switch with signal on indicator, headlight switch, dimmer switch, electric start, engine stop switch, oil light, high beam light, neutral indicator, horn, folding front and rear footrests, fuel valve, centre stand, side stand, toolkit, helmet holder, locking fuel filler cap.
EXTERIOR
A breathtakingly beautiful machine, this fully restored example completely excels down to every nut, bolt and clip. Close scrutiny allows total appreciation of just how amazing the bike is, with the gleaming Flake Sunrise Orange paintwork absolutely flawless. Mirror chrome in abundance will entertain those who enjoy to polish with all pieces displaying a perfect quality finish. The seat with Honda inscription is spotless underneath which the toolkit, battery strap and handbook are all present. All trim, light apparatus and Cibie headlight as new. The chrome nearside mirror retains a Made in Japan sticker and the rear light lens a DOT Honda sticker retained by the restorers to uphold the ‘new bike’ look. All warning/information labels, stock VIN label and the Honda and 750 Four badges are perfect. Restored to the highest standard, this stunning machine is very special.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The four-stroke four-cylinder air cooled DOHC engine featuring four 28mm Keihin carburettors has a displacement of 736cc and produces a thumping 67bhp, enough to whisk the rider to a heady top speed of 123.2mph with a standing ¼ mile in 13.5 seconds. The engine number is clearly visible on top of the crankcase left side and is correct in the number range for a 1972 K3 machine. Beautifully machined engine components are pristine and the genuine ornate quad exhaust pipes show clear part number stampings. The bike has been professionally decommissioned with all fluids correctly drained prior to long term storage. This has preserved the inner tank condition entirely and there is a photographic documented engine rebuild prior to storage. In July 2024 the bike underwent replenishment of oils and fluids and was started whereby it ran and revved cleanly with no issues or leaks. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This CB-750 K3 retains chrome wire wheels in stunning condition and still displaying outer rim D.I.D Japan and part number stampings. Premium Metzeler 3.25-19 front and 4.00-18 rear tyres are fitted and unused still showing delicate tyre nobbles. A hydraulically operated single 296mm disc and 179mm rear drum braking system is as new and standard specification.
HISTORY FILE
This Honda CB-750 K3, frame number 2207018 and engine number 2208622 was first registered in October 1972. Originally registered in the US, the bike has US features such as the wide and tall handle bars, rear grab handle and the chrome rear light unit (as opposed to black on UK bikes). Arriving in the UK in 2013 the bike has had just two keepers, the first being a Motorcycle restorer known for his concours restorations, Steven Brady. The owner attended concours events with his bikes along with his respected father and classic bike guru, Ken. They would enter their bikes into prestigious events such as Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace and would win numerous trophies in recognition of his standard. The bike was subsequently sold to a friend in 2016 where it joined his motorcycle collection on display in his lounge!
Paperwork in the history includes a letter from Honda UK confirming model, engine and frame numbers and build date October 1972. All NOVA paperwork is included and the bike is UK registered. Both Honda keys fit all locks and there are two handbooks and a hardback copy of Honda CB-750 The Complete Story by Mark Haycock. A trail of emails between the UK owners tells more of the story and numerous detailed photos supports the restoration.
