I love how Barevids doesnt really do filler video just to put out content. When he puts out a video he has something to say. Long informative well produced videos. 👍👍 Love these long and detailed videos. Amazing job brother.
That makes two (2) of us. Sam is all about the pie "filling", not the "crust". He is a straight shooter as well. Top quality video content for sure. Thanks a lot Sam! Fred
What a gift you are to the audio community my friend! The current generation of audio enthusiasts have no idea how back in the day one had to "Pay Their Dues" over many years to learn what you are giving away for free. There were no sources of easy answers and information. I have been around long enough to know that you are the real deal. Your no nonsense, to the point, "Fluff-Free" content is refreshing to say the least. I love the way you make a statement, back it up with fact, and make a real world comparison to similar products. It really puts things into perspective. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I wish you you were my electronics teacher back in high school 35 years ago. Even though I can understand maybe 30% of what your saying as my brain can't process what you teach that fast lol. I've always loved electronics and struggle with it being 50 now doesn't really help but I'm still as inspired as I watch your videos and explain it the way you do really helps. Thanks Mike.
Sam you deserve royalties!!! imma hit these guys up NOW to try get you some royalties! thanks for the epic breakdown bro, this is the first amp i have seen ever, that will possibly eventually fail because of old mosfets!
Been running these amplifier for over 3 yrs no problem leave the filters open and add a dsp with like 24db roll off and this thing will put out lows stronger than a Korean and stay way cooler doing it
Absolutely fantastic full bridge amplifier. Definitely designed by someone with knowlegde about High-current applications. Finally an amp without a PIC IC 🙌 Very beefy drive circuits, and I'm a big fan of component markings on the board. Thx for the review man 😁
Great video B. It's one thing to say an amp is good because of its brand, but it's something totally different to show why an amp is good or better than other amps. You should do a series of these videos covering the many brands of amplifiers if you haven't already. I don't have the knowledge to recognize all the points you were making, but your explanation made it possible to see all the points you made. Again, great video. Thanks for the content.
I've always been a hardcore believer in "Korean" amps. I bought a Banda Viking 8k because I was curious. My expectations were low. I ran the Banda on my Resilient Sounds Platinum 18". My God did that amp surprise me! I love this amp! Soooop much power! Only running 48Ah lifepo4 so plenty of power.
@@dennycote6339 no website available at the moment for Powerus depending where you are living I can pass on the distributors information for you for purchases
Well said. This new generation of kids are going around spreading that the Brazilian is the inventor of the Full Bridge amp board. Back in 2000 I had a few of the USAmps VLX 400. From what I was told back when I bought these amps is that Jack “the owner of USAmps” took 2 half bridge amps and linked them together to make a full bridge amp.
2 Strapped half bridges becomes a full bridge albeit in 2 different cases. This is why you cant "Strap" a full bridge. Strapping involves inverting one amps input signal in relation to phase with the other resulting in one amp making positive half of the sine wave and the other making negative half. This is all just in relation to the original signal, and is the reason it is VERY important that both amps are putting out as close as possible rail voltage so the combined output sinewave is symmetrical. Linking the Negative speaker outputs together and using the positives makes a complete Sinewave, think of it as 1 amplifier makes top of sine wave, and other makes the bottom but in all honesty positive and negative is relative in the AC signal that you end up with depending on phase.@@nathantaufer7670
I happen to have a VLX400 which is indeed 2 amplifier boards inside one huge case and it is indeed strapped. They are 2 identical boards but one is missing the input section. I will dig it out of my storage unit to confirm as I haven't looked at it in 10 years but when I replaced all the TIP35C and TIP36C outputs to refresh it @jasonnea's comment was what I feel to be correct. Mine is anodized Purple, and one of the early models that have square endcaps. I owned TrafficJamz Inc in Palatka FLorida, about 45 min from Gainesville where they were handmade in an old church so I saw a lot of USAmps and used they to compete for a while. My personal favorite is the 50HC, with the 100HC being a close second. These amps didn't have an EQ or Crossover, just a pair of inputs and a gain with some 8gauge power wires hanging out of a grommet. It was common to hear people say you could "Weld with them", which really just meant they were hard to burn up and were low ohm stable, but I swear everyone said that back in the day.
Whe have a powerus 10k powering 4 15 inch subs in a explorer. One day the voice coil of one sub got shorted and the amplifier got into protect everytime the owner turned up the volume, if it was a taramps would have blown up before the protection kicked in. Solid and extremely powerful amplifiers, the best of Brazil IMO.
I've ran a Taramps amp into the dirt for testing purposes. 11v.. clipped into red. Shit ground etc... gone into protect multiple times. That amp still works like new today. Keep your misinformation bullshit and assumptions to yourself
@@crunkwun Let's be honest...most of these clowns take Taramps and run them on 4 gauge wire with no lithium/agms and a stock alt and complain when they shit the bed. Do the same with a POWERUS and theyll fo the same thing.
I really like the drive circuit, kind of like a Zenon with the buffer transistors between the drive and the mosfets. Really cool looking amp, I would really like to see the 15k and hear if it is as good as this one is to you. Thank you fro another great and informative video!!
Mosfets are amazing, they are like capacitor, transformer and transistor all in one. I read that they were not efficient and suffered overheating in the early one's in the 1950's, I wonder how much they improved since.
Barevids, I've installed my SD 8k, running two gz hydrogen 12lvs, wired to 4ohms, I've never ran brazillion, or uk audio ,I've gotta say ,I love it, the sd sounds better than the prior zapco, noticeable improvement, lots of headroom !! I hope you do a breakdown of a sd 8k soon ,and the gz 12lvs get low!!!
Thought about getting a Sundown SFB amp on sale to power my new 15s, but haven't heard many good things about them so far. Might be trying one of these amps.
@@shawnelliott3257 there's a UK distributor, yes. There aren't "stores" as such there's just one place you order online. Audio scene is very small over here.
These amp rarely damaged and if damaged it’s something slightly and cheap repair it will never catch fire even if the fans was blown the amp as a crazy protection u can short the speaker wire amp will just protect and turn on as you release the wire
Idea for another video sam. For us that old older amps from like 2017. That we run hard. How to give them a freshen up to maintain reliability. Ie change out thermal paste. Check caps. Solder getting average 🤷♂️. Just an idea
Thank you very much for that video very educational I really like how you break down things so we can learn keep up the good work RU-vid should pay you nuff respect youth 👍👍
Whatching that made my love my amp so much 🤣🤲👌 its sitting under my bed in the wrapped duvet ✨🤓🤣 waiting for his time 🤲😎🤣 Bless you bro for your time on these videos❤ absolutely amazing information was here to watch🎉
I own a Pw 10k best full bridge amplifier on the market it does wellllll over the rated power this amplifier is worth every penny other Brazilian brands are built very cheap
@@saolelejrsaolele7271 Had it 5 year's now worth every penny it's built like a tank it does rated power at 12.4 I'm charging 16v clamped over 13k out of it
What's up barevids. Just want to say I watch and enjoy your vids and knowledge on amplifiers, subs and car audio period. I'm a car audio competitor from Pittsburgh Pa. I been into car audio since 1990 when I got my Driver's license at age 25. But your never too old to learn. I have 737 trophies to date in car audio. So I have a question. I'm currently running 8-Taramp MD8Ks. The preamp settings, like the LPF, exactly where should that be set? I actually turn it all the way to the right. I make that setting on my HU to 80hz. Since the HU is the main brains of the system, I figure it controls everything. Now I am running line driver eq's as well. I use to set my amps the same way, but I noticed most competitors turn that setting off: (to the right). Also is 80hz too high? That's another setting I learned that competitors set it at. No I don't play frequencies' that high, lol. But I do Burp and street beat day to day as well. My wall is tuned to 34hz. My resonate frequency of my car is 43hz. so that's the test tune I burp. I also run most of my amps at .5ohm. which is .6ohm on my fluke. I've had my MDs this way for 2yrs now with no issues. I rise to 1.4ohm. I've ran all my amps @.5ohm rather chinese, Korean, or Brazilian.
How do you feel about dynamic power ofxan amp? I always hear people say the dynamic power of an amp doesn't matter. Personally i think would be important.
Great video man. Love how you put sections in the video as well sweet 🤙. Also congrats on your new place man🎉 hopefully Big D will put one on his bench.
@@Mr.NpK143 EMF amplifiers are teampie amplifiers from alibaba. He gets you to preorder to bankroll the orders and you wait like 6 months if your lucky for it to arrive. Might as well order from alibaba direct. He does not have a amp line . He puts his name on a cookie cutter amp and says it’s his. There is nothing wrong with this practice at all. I have nothing against it really lots of people do it but please don’t pretend it’s your tech. I don’t like his video model. Do I watch? Yes. Why? Because I have to be aware of all that’s out there good and bad. If you don’t believe me on his amps look it up. I’m not talking trash these are facts. He also talk quite a bit of trash on others. He can’t make a video on just his laurels. It’s always how everyone else is bad etc.
@@angelvip2474 I'm well aware if the preorders he has and the extended wait just like Collin with wolfram, but still the cookie cutters amp is a well built Korea board amplifier. And even in this video Sam mentioned 80hz on these Brazilian boards aren't where we are here in the states for subs. He stated the significant difference in sound quality when on subs. Even if you barely touch the lpf he suggests you'll be at 150hz which is not where subs want to be. Is this a great amp? Yes! To ridicule a product is one thing, but the company is another. I agree with you mostly, but this amp doesn't hold a candle next to a Korean in it's class
@@Mr.NpK143 it prob doesn't hold a candle. Either way. I don't deal with cookie cutter brands at my shop. Again I watch everything to see what's out there. My customers are more in line with SQ. Spl is an extremely small segment if any at my shop. We deal more with Mosconi Focal JL and such. But again I like to see what's out there. Market is too flooded with these amps. I also use measuring equipment for all my settings so the dials really doesn't mean much too me.👍
@@angelvip2474 to each it's own. I wish you well with your business. I'm just leaving Tampa FL after a days fun of the Concert Car Showdown which is an MECA event. And honestly they're hasn't been a powerus setup in this certified competition or any other I've attended. Maybe soon, but not now. Everybody is entitled to their own frame of music. Whether cookie cutters or not you can't do anything by yourself. There's also a competition coming up in Orlando Fl. this weekend, and another big boi at Lucas Stadium in Indiana. Maybe I'll see powerus there
Can you do a run down on an RE XTX5000.1 V1. My positive rail power supply dropped 2 FETS which traveled through the transformer melting one wire thr to the negative rail whit dropped 2 FETS as well
This is the only full bridge amplifier company with a local distributer where I live so half the cars at local events run them and I haven't seen one blow.
Would be a commercial if they paid me to make this and reviewed it before I posted. I made this completely off my own back since we have a powerus distro in the UK and I wanted to see what they were like. If they were terrible, trust that I wouldn't have held back one bit, like with the Phoenix gold video. I only care for giving people information about the circuit. These ones just happen to be epic and I respect the designers massively.
@@mikehause6585 not true. First off the channel was budget gem. 2ndly he never put this amp at .8 high voltage like he did the wolfram. Like all other full range it's highly not recommended
Just installed one of my brand new pw8000s and unfortunately it seems to be doa. It shows no fault lights at all, but it will not output voltage on the speaker terminals. My other pw8000 works just fine. Just waiting to hear back from PowerUS, hopefully they can help me.
I see youre familiar with ‘paraflex’ subwoofers. Regarding the kickdrum issue you noted in this review would you drive the HF biased design enclosures with this? Paraflex is hungry and the drivers used are often stiff..?
you mentioned how the components in the Taramps arent secured as well as they should be or could be. if i wanted to take some preventative steps to secure them more tightly and keep it from being an issue in the future, what sort of adhesive would you recomend i use to better secure them? just regular hot glue from a glue gun, e6000, CA? thank you for all of the great info
I wouldn't use hot glue because it would become soft again when the amp warms up from use. I would use a good quality silicone that you can get at any hardware store
@barevids Can you wire the 1 ohm Powerus PWM15000 to half ohm safely because of impedance rise? I know they make a .5 ohm version but I wanna get full power on music and doubt it will ever seen .5 ohm while playing music. Thanks.
Hey barevids - what do people mean when they say Brazilian amps are voltage sensitive? I watched this entire video and you have 99.9% encouraged me to upgrade to Powerus for my next build. It's crazy how here in America all of the Korean board companies try to talk down about and steer you away from Brazilian amps! One of the main things I hear is theyre so "voltage sensitive" .... As long as I have the proper electrical to power these amps would I run into any issues?
It means they don't understand about amps 😁 output switching frequency of these and other brazilians is locked regardless of rail voltage, unlike Koreans which vary with voltage, causing possible instability.
I've got a PW1600 on order to drive a single 10 (DD SL710) in a sealed box. Any thoughts on being able to modify the slope of the low pass? I'm adding this to a factory system (JL Wrangler) and using an Audio Control LC2i to give it a signal so don't really want to have to add another component.
I will probably get the powerus amp 15000 sense you know your stuff I'm going with what you recommend do you know anything about oz audio amps I have the ozv-3200.1 was wondering if it's any good its powering my two 18s at 1ohm and dont overheat I have the 9900 dd thanks for your feed back appreciate you and everything you teach your viewers
I really do like the circuit. And I would like to support the brand however At the current asking price, roughly $599 U.S for a 3.5k(from my research) I need to see some more modern features To purchase. For example daul inputs, higher quality pre-amp/ crossover section, panel mount rca etc. I understand they are fairly new to the market. But if they are going to charge the price of more established brands with these features. I'm going to need to see a bit more. I do feel it has a lot of Potential.
Thats a very reasonable price, have you seen the price of a 3.5k amp from the likes of DD, DC, sundown etc using outdated inefficient 20year old circuits with no active health check or thought to reparability? its like 3 times the price!
In the states to get a powerus amplifier it is the same cost or more than a (D4S) Korean built of the same power. That is also dependenon if you can even get a powerus amplifi which has proven very difficult from any reputable dealer
So they are pretty decent amplifiers? I have another question for you? Why do you hear bass playing through a Korean amplifier when every thing is turned off vs my taramps?
You should have put some affiliate links in the description 😉, I'm sure alot of people will by these from the video an you could be getting that kick back👍
I seen that there's a couple opened spots to add Moffett on the output section and it also looks like there's an open spot to add rail caps is that for the 10K or can you add more mosfets in a cap to up the performance of this amplifier? Just curious
If you don't mind. Do you know the MSRP of that amp I can do the US currency conversion on my end. The only distributor that I have got a price from is marking up ridiculously high, and I'm sure that it is not anywhere near the price. Let's just say I could get a Korean overbuilt amp that would do about the same rated power at the same cost.
Question, so if I'm correct sometimes I hear you saying some amps only use half of the sine wave. And some use the upper and lower +/- parts. Is there any advantage or db boost or does it make a subwoofer say any better when using the latter of the two?
