Maybe she knows you respond regardless of how far you are. She doesn't know you have an app, but she knows you somehow know when she presses the button!
And it must not be a surprise to Bunny because she's a dog and can hear human words from far away. As we somehow think dogs can see the colors as we do, dogs would think we can hear as they do. They grow up to get used to humans with bad hearing. However, if their human can somehow hear them in distance, they won't bother to figure out how.
I’ve read about a village where a prevalence of folks are deaf- and just about everyone uses sign to communicate- both hearing and non hearing- even when 2 hearing people are communicating in the market - Using sign is a way to include others. All that to say Bunny is probably using buttons to include the family - as she is alerted- letting you know she is doing her job - after all she is 1/2 sheepdog - Livestock Guardians’ instincts are very deeply set.
You probably read about Chilmark, a small town on Martha's Vineyard, that historically had a large population of deaf residents. In the Squibnocket area of Chilmark, around one quarter of the population may have been deaf (decades ago.) According to a 2015 article in the Atlantic, about 1 out of 25 people in Chilmark were deaf, but nearly 25 out of 25 knew how to sign. So amazing!
She’s so used to using the buttons to express herself, that it’s just a knee-jerk reaction at this point to use the buttons whether you are there or not
I agree with you. I have been looking at studies about deaf people and how they developed from the 1800s to now. People who do not have the opportunity to learn sign language, especially at an early age and only lip read, develop multiple learning disabilities. People who learn sign language develop at a rate consistent with people who can hear. The theory here is that with a language, the brain develops an "inner monologue" that can expand thought. Almost like a foundation a person can build off of. People who don't learn a language think more abstractly and therefore have less to build on for thought and ideas. Dogs do use body language along with a few vocal cues to other dogs but I wonder if it's in more in the abstract sense. With the buttons, Bunny has developed a rudimentary idea on how humans communicate and therefore has a small foundation to grow certain ideas and thoughts that other dogs might not experience. I do think dogs are exceptionally intelligent as they are, but I wonder if giving them building blocks to a more descriptive language also enhances learning and how they perceive the world.
What a smart and very cute pup! I think she likes expressing herself and would probably do it whether u responded or not....its absolutely adorable...😊❤
Well with her hearing Bunny could hear you if she was upstairs and you were downstairs. It makes sense that she would think that if you were upstairs and she was downstairs you could hear her especially with her added bark. Unless she has specifically been taught that your ears don't work as far as her ears do (they are different).
FASCINATING! This button thing is such a window into their brain and how they convey their thoughts very much like we do while playing games like charades. Buttons replace pictures. I wonder if pictures were added to the button experience would they recognize them? 🤔
I think it's amazing how happy your dogs are doing that you hear them. I think that the ability to communicate with you makes bunny so happy. So many dogs feel like they aren't heard I'm sure and when she feels like you can hear her and what she's saying it's got to feel amazing
I'm always glad to see this content and it is quite fascinating. It does strike me though that many animals who are loved and respected use many ways to communicate with us and we always tend to recognize what they want. Most of the time I guess.
I think she’s learnt to verbalise anxiety and is doing so. You hearing is a bonus. Dogs love routine and it’s part of her’s to use the buttons when concerned.
I honestly feel like she is trying phonetics like how babies do . They try to emulate the sounds their parents make which usually ends up coming out as gibberish , yet sometimes they get lucky and nail a real word. I’m am thoroughly convinced that if ANY doggo on this planet can learn how to talk it will be Bunny the human (LoL) as she calls herself 😅 I am a true believer in if there’s a will there’s a way and Bunny definitely has the skill set and the motivation to pull of a genuine miracle !! 🙌🏽🥰
So you tell us you get a notification of the buttons she uses, and when you were downstairs you repeated what she said to her. You probably have done that before, and even though she does not know how it works she knows that when you are not there you still know exactly what she does, and I think it conforts her. The way you describe bunny she needs reassurance and this gives that to her.
Well since dogs smell and hear better than us, she may think that how you are, as they know nothing different. Also I ❤that you know her different barks! My outside dogs are our alarm system for pretors. One hears a mouse burp and immediately alerts, the other one is actually half working half livestock guardian and I’ve noticed when the mouse burp bark changes the other laid back dog will kick it up. When he adds growling, that’s when I grab my tools and check. FYI They’re in a big kennel and aren’t meant to fight the predators after my livestock. That’s what I’m for. 😉
Being a Service Dog trainer I have come to realize that dogs tend to assume a lot. My guess is that she assumes you can hear her. Question: Does she do this if there is no one home, including other pets?
I think she was telling you that she heard something outside. Because you respond when she pushes the buttons, she doesn't know that you can't hear her using them.
I'm going to say she used the words to express herself because that's what she's used to doing. She was trained to do this. Also, since you got the notifications on your phone, if she thought you could "hear" her she was right. You did get the notification and respond.
Her body language after she pressed the buttons is clear: you see her pause, lift and slightly rotate her ears. She also slightly lifts her head. She knows you are upstairs. She's clearly listening for your response. Your behavior in the past had shown her that you respond to what buttons she presses, even when you're not in the room at the time. She expects at least the possibility that you'll hear and react.
I am very impressed with the dogs that have these buttons and have been trained. But I have decided seeing both sides. I do not want my dog to know the words.
I'd like to know what you think she was doing as you know her better than us. When you aren't home, does she still use the buttons to convey her alerts? She knows you're there when you are & clearly loves you
Well. You came down and confirmed you did in fact hear her. So even if she didn't do it because she assumed that she now knows you can.. so this question can never be answered 😂 she's just a smart rooroo
Bunny has been circulating around in my less online group as the "famous self aware and depressed dog" As a fan, this bothers me alot. I really hope you can address this. I'm sorry if you have or I made you uncomfortable. I just really love Bunny from afar and it breaks my heart people are calling these buttons abuse.
I think you should start teaching them more transitional words. Like kindergarten classes but for dogs. They want to understand more about life so let's start teaching more! Can't advance without trying new things.
sorry, i am no native speaker and do not understand your question totally. there could be a 3. possibility. she uses words, just because it is a way to speak and express for her. maybe she did it, used words, naturally. not for you. just to express. because thinking and words, this connection also functions with/withing her.??? maybe it is loud selftalk of her and not a using of words, that you can hear it.
I don't understand the point of this video. A dog barks, trying to summon its master. She hits a button because she knows pushing the button get her human's attention. Nothing earth shattering happening here.
@@FlailTV whats so hard to understand bub? I said the dog is ugly to where its freaky looking especially because its trying to talk lol now do u understand
