what's the best version of gzdoom to use this with? Is there a way to make Bolognese mod compatible with it?

Great job on the mod! It was a really enjoyable ride, though I never found the dungeon key to rescue that poor soldier lol where is it located?

​@@xyo5417 GZDoom 3.x will work fine for the mod. I cannot assure the compatibility with other gameplay mods since this also changes/replaces some Actors and Behaviors.

What is the bfg equivalent of this mod? The unmaker or something?

Very nice mix of great FPS games resources, haven't played the mod yet but I can tell it was done by a true lover of these games, I hope you keep making mods like this 👍 or even a sequel

Well I think have both vibes. The sound when you arrive to the new area is definetly from dark souls. And some monsters names.

The creator did say that they took inspiration from both Dark Souls and Diablo.

@Tw1st3dG4m3r Dark Souls doesn't have bullshit difficulty if you git gud. Of course, I never have got gud, but that's what everyone tells me to do.

@Tw1st3dG4m3r I know it's a meme. I'm screwing around with it. A gave 3 a try and the first boss is essentially there to judge whether you can handle the game or not. It's manageable if you time dodges and such right.

@Tw1st3dG4m3r Dark Souls isn't hard. It's a game where you have infinite lives and most of what people describe as getting good is just learning patterns. But the games are put together in a way that really makes you feel good when you succeed.

They use the sprite for the fighter's gauntlets, from Hexen.

using other mods with it can break the behaviour of enemies and such. just a heads up. so its better to play it as it is intended to be played.

I heard playing my mod with Bolognese created issues with enemy respawning, please keep that in mind that :)

Egbert Aethelbald only a select amount of monsters respawn. They are their to keep the overworld for being Boring after you clear it out.

@@jazzmaster909 Yeah, I'd still prefer something a bit more Souls-like, e.g. only when using a bonfire.

Egbert Aethelbald the towns pretty much was your 'bonfire' (since there arent any bonfire equivalents) that is where you refill all your ammo and items.

@@jazzmaster909 In a Souls game, you can refill that stuff (sans Estus) without resetting. Not an option here.

Kings Field came out a few months before Hexen did if i remember correctly. so i can understand the Kings Field connection, though I have not played any of the kings field games.

Performance becomes an issue, and some mods have extensive needs for keyboards. GZDoom isn't exactly known for being very optimized and the features it adds only make things slower.

That mod is so unique but unfortunately has quest-breaking bugs.

@@jazzmaster909 I remember that you had to do certain actions in proper order, otherwise you can't progress with quest, like npcs wouldn't talk to you etc. Quests had strict progression and it didn't make sense with level design. I love theme of the mod though and would have loved for full game to be released.

@@jazzmaster909 Unfortunately not, but I remember there being problems with solving quests from the very first level in the game.

Might just be his mouse sens. But for a true oldschool DOOM experience, keyboard only!

@@HappyBeezerStudios true that ^_^ i remember sitting there only using keyboard ... i think i used shift to strafe, ctrl to shoot and space to open doors/switches ... and the actual arrow keys to move ^_^ ... boy that is a loooooong time ago now ^_^

@@magnus4g63 shift was sprint, strafe was those keys. spacebar opening door. and the normal cursor keys to walk. shooting was ctrl. and if you pressed alt you could strafe with your cursor left and right key as wel. but you couldt move your pistol. at least this are the standard doom controls.

I remember there were mods that introduced monsters from Diablo2, "Diablo 3D" and "Diablo II Convertion" both abandoned in alpha state. It would be cool for Abysm's creators to put them in their project...

@@ThePoltergeist82 There were suppose to be 2 more weapons during development, but I felt that the weapon selection became overbloated so i needed to cut them out. the Sunlight staff and the Flintlock pistol.

i have a good one for you. A.L.T (Absolute Life Transformation). its a russian mod. it has big levels. but its not your standard linear level design. it got some sort of story in it as well. 32 maps. it takes some time to play through though. first time i played through it took me close to 10 hours. thats long for a doom mod. but yeah its really really worth to play through. www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/59930-b0s-presents-alt-not-my-work/ you can download it from here. So i dont know if you have played this one already. if not really go for it. it does have some custom weapon sounds though. but other then that the weapons and monsters act exactly the same as vanilla doom

It's very Dark Souls in terms of Level Design and the approach to exploration.

@@jazzmaster909 well for he exploration i find it more like DII. the different zones and the teleporters...the rainy vibe and the pseudo silent ambients. its more a DII feeling for me. Dark souls is even darker, so this mod does not reach that tone for me
