AC/DC with Axl Rose Madison Square Garden, New York, NY September 14th 2016 Thunderstruck 5 cam mix @ 1080p 60fps Contact me if you have any questions... or comment here.
This is probably one of the best performances I have ever seen. Axl fucking slayed it. Live. At around 55 years old (at the time this was shot). So fucking badass. As an Audio Engineer, I don't even hear any (post) pitch correction/Autotune. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's just his regular effects chain and some typical mixing in post. But whether he's using pitch correction or not (99% sure he's not), my dude's just chillin in the 5th fucking octave - hitting F#5 like it's a walk in the park. Well, he actually (purposely) hits A5 at times. That's the god damned 14th and 17th frets on your high E string on a guitar. That's almost at the 6th octave. Axl's a fucking maniac.
Everyone’s talked about Axl’s vocals, but no one’s mentioned the respect and humility. Notice how he stays in the background behind the band. He knows who the stars are.
To be fair, there aren’t many vocalists that could do this justice and Axl is about as close to Brian as you’re gonna get. Fair play for him stepping in to cover for Brian and ensure the band could still tour.
Axl Rose was amazing. Not only nailed the singing but was obviously aware of the grandeur of the situation. He was pitch perfect. That was such a great performance. AC/DC brought it and found a way to make the best of a tough situation. Bravo to Axl & AC/DC!
Axl was there for a band he appreciated, and that was in need of a vocalist. He did better than most would have thought. Not better than Brian (of course), but he was there for 'em and delivered for the fans, he didn't have to, but he did.
I saw the title Axle Rose - Thunderstruck and I kinda chuckled because that is such a difficult role to achieve. I have always had respect for Axle Rose, but I didn't think he could pull this off. I listened to it and I was impressed! He did an awesome job filling in!
Very few people can step in to AC/DC and shine!! Love Axel !!! It’s so very hard to maintain your voice when u sing like this for years & years!! I hate when people criticize on something they know nothing about!! I’m sure Brian & the rest of the band were more than pleased with Axel stepping up and helping them continue the tour!!! Nothing but Love for them all !!
Vocally Axl did really well, it's just the timing and phrasing of the words that are off occasionally but I genuinely think he did a lot better than people give him credit for
Sorry comment section. Was in the business a long time and saw countless bands live. I was so lucky to see AC/DC on each new album live in concert. I cried when Malcolm died🌹 Brian? Y’all may be AXL fans and I am too but there’s no way to even come close topping the main epic legends in wild action! And man those concerts you felt electrified for days after! I’ve seen the best of the best out there and there’s no topping AC/DC.
I can’t think of a singer that could have pulled this off better than Axl. He was a gift to this band in their time of need. 10/10 would Axl again.

When you are among legends who no longer dedicate the time, who are too stars and live among millions, sometimes we have performances that only dedicated a couple of rehearsals to them because they are very good, here you can see that they rehearsed to perfection
I know nothing about Axl Rose but he looks like he did a good job. ACDC is a cultural institution with a huge following. Hope he continues with this venture. Keep on rocking, Mister Axl Rose, sir!
I had no idea what to expect when I clicked on this video but I have to admit Axel did a bloody good job with this song. I hadn't heard him sing live in ages and was fully prepared to write him off but he nails this. Hats off to him and the boys
1:42 when he hits the lyrics..."Sound of the DRUMS!.... beatin in my heaaaaaaarrrrt!!!" Powerful voice at that range is insane, especially when singing all night like that.
Was at the show in Cleveland a week & some change before this. It was so great to see them dust off a bunch of classic AC/DC songs & play them in their original tuning. All put on a Hell of a show
*PFFT!* He's not in the same league as Rudd; the guy the metronome factory calls when they want to ensure their metronomes are keeping time accurately... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N_AcmtmegKI.html&ab_channel=skeletor538 Get that inta ya!
Chris was good in the 90s when he played the Razors Edge Tour with them. But today he is not the old Slade anymore. Some Tunes are too slow, no Groove and so on. Phil is the best for AC/DC!
Amazing video man, you guys have no idea, that’s rock and roll history and you guys are nothing but dust if we are talking bout anybody on stage that night!!! Rock n fucking rolling
Axl sounds amazing here. Why doesn't he sing like this for the current Gunners tours? I think he plays it safe for his own band too much. I think most people would rather see an hour long Gn'R concert with Axl singing like this than three hours of him singing without all the grit and power he is known for. The ACDC gigs prove he can still do it.
its a different octave. Hes lost the one that he sung "sweet child o mine" and other songs with. That aint coming back. This octave hes singing in is literally the highest one hes capable of singing which is why it sounds so good. When he starts "Welcome to the jungle" its the same octave that hes using here. Hes 60 now and his voice has taken a beating its hard to sing the same as when you were 20 when your best voice was literally razor blades. Still hes a very talented singer even to this day just not what he once was imo.
It's because Angus Young demands better than that falsetto Axl coasts through his performances with. Axl described the AC/DC rehearsals as grueling. Especially since he was healing from foot surgery. He simply chooses to not expend that much energy with GNR. He sings Welcome to the Jungle like it's 1988, but everything else I feel like he half asses it.
i remember when they came to my country in 2016. The tickets were sold out fast. then Brian had to stop and they announce Axl would be the one performing in his place. A lot of people asked for a refund. So the tickets were being sold again an eventually they sold out again (tho slower). After the concert, most (if not all) people that returned their tickets were regretting their decision.
Axl was amazing. He did a great job on a song that to me is Brian's best AC/DC song. I thought they were crazy to hire Axl for the tour but he really stepped up and sounded much better than I expected. I guess maturity and getting away from GnR has given him a better work ethic. Not to mention it's fucking AC/DC and they'll accept nothing less.
We used to play @ St, Bonaventure University, you wouldn't believe the crazy things that happened to me. Just because of my Native Blood. Sam was like that little Devil in my ear. He would always try to tell me why don't you take advantage of crap like that ??? I would tell him I'm not like that. 🥰
Wahnsinn Axl Rose. Das ist das beste Up_Grade das ich je gesehen habe. Eine außergewöhnliche Stimme vertstärkt eine Welt-Band. Riesen Respekt, auch für sein Auftreten. Ich liebe diesen Song und Rose hat es besser gemacht.
If you would've told me in 1990 that Axl Rose would tour as the lead singer of AC/DC in 2016, my 1st Grade mind would've been blown. This is pretty cool.
