This is a clip of AC/DC playing live from the 1970's "Midnight Special" - Wolfman Jack's network live concert program. This particular episode was hosted by Ted Nugent, and the band is introduced for the first time to an American TV audience by Ted Nugent and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. Bon Scott is AC/DC's lead singer at this time, and he puts in an incredible performance along with lead guitarist Angus Young. This is a classic rock and roll performance by one of the greatest heavy metal rock groups of all time.

AC/DC reinvented rock n roll. After all the technical masters of the early-mid 70s, along they came playing three/four chord songs in the mold of 1950’s rock n roll, just with distortion and the same amount of energy as Eddie Cochran, Elvis, Chuck Berry and Little Richard. Every song was basic 50s rock that kicked ass and you could dance to. Plus, during the Bon Scott era they never released a bad song. They all were awesome!

When Bon stepped forward he did so with utter confidence, or, better said, authority, and with a twinkle of The Devil in his eye. Dare I say it? He nodded to the sound guy and dropped to the floor and played a huge solo with volume cranked up! Asked if that was good? IT WAS AWESOME! Great day except having to listen to Ted play Stranglehold at least 5 times in a row. There were two stages set up with Ted at one end and Cheap Trick on the other. At one point Ted suggested that they both play loud at the same time and blast everyone out. GREAT DAY!

Malcolm is the soul of AC\DC and very underrated.

I've never seen a video of ACDC in a support role. The Aerosmith introduction somehow gave me the illusion that I was watching them raw, for the first time. What a thing.

Great clip. One thing that doesn't come across on your average computer speaker is the volume. I saw this tour in 1977 as opening act for Foreigner. The volume in that small club was deafening. Angus bouncing across the stage with his book bag, Malcom and Cliff banging out the rhythm. It was a night I'll never forget.

I saw them at Comiskey Park, in Chicago on this tour. Hands down one of my top 5 live shows to this day!

Whoever was the sound man in charge of the bass, he/she deserves a promotion.

Just my opinion! I would say the 2 best lyricist in rock in the 70's was Bon Scott and Ronnie van zandt! Their lyrics in theirs songs was really truly how they lived and very true to the heart!

I remember seeing this when it aired. Ted Nugent took over the show for one night as host and made it a hard rock extravaganza!

The first I heard AC/DC it summoned something evil inside of me that I never knew existed, it scared the fuck out of me ...and I loved it.
