This customer has an RV set up permanently on a river lot on the Greenbrier River. His air conditioner is not working. I thought we would find the problem quickly, but this repair took a hard left-hand turn. Watch to find out what it was and how we fixed it.

Great video. As a retired electronics technician (among other vocations) I have found that any chance you have to eliminate an unnecessary connection you should do so. If you don't need to regularly disconnect that circuit board, use good butt connectors or better yet solder and tape. I have solved many issues this way. BTW, a previous video of yours saved my a** on my RV furnace issue. I am eternally grateful that you have shared your awesome skills and experience for all. THANKYOU!

Kenny, You are amazing at finding issues! Some electrical information. 10.6 RLA (Running Load Amps) is what you were looking for. The 12.8 BCSC(Branch Circuit Selection Current) is for sizing the compressor conductors. I have never seen that on anything I worked on. And is not MCA (Minimum Circuit Amps)

Kenny, I once chased a short in my semi truck engine for 3 weeks... ended up a 9 foot ground wire from the starter to alternator was green powder on top front side of engine... 3 ft from alternator connector.... Drove me bonkers on ecm's.... that wire had no slices or holes in it at all.. When I finally felt the soft spot and sliced it open..... green copper powder and totally corroded... Truck was 2years old at this time... 2$ wire cost me 3 weeks of lost revenue and downtime..

Had a short in my rear chassis harness in my pickup and didn’t know. Caught fire when the truck was parked for 14 hours. Computer does checks in the system and when this happened, truck burned. Totaled due to no available harnesses after 4 months.

My service van was down for 4 months a couple of years ago because of a bad ground wire that took out the ECM. It took me 4 months to find one.

I was told by a nice person that I had no tail lights on my van. Also had been noticing that the cruise control stopped working. Googled the symptoms and the fix was bad grounds in the tail light sockets. Replacing the sockets corrected both problems. Eventually the ground wire was used by both circuits. Very common failure.

Great job again, Kenny! Electrical demons in the circuitry is the craziest part of all fixes. With the invent of circuit boards that makes it even crazier. Luckily you found that bad connector. It happens all the time. Great persistence.

you can recharge a roof mount ac with the same freon as in your home unit R410. cut the pig tail off and sweat a shrader vlv in the tube and recharge. do not use saddle clamps as they will eventually leak due to vibration.

Another Great Video, Kenny. Those intermittent problems can be a nightmare to solve. I hope you and your family had a safe and happy 4th of July Weekend.

I have run into this same issue a few times now when with A/C units. I have generally found the broken wires with in a couple if inches of the spade connectors or I find the break right where the factory stripped the outer jacket of the thermostat wires at the A/C unit as opposed to the thermostat. As always great video!

@@hillbillyrv what a mess this one was, need a new AC unit up front only pulling 6.1 amps with 80 degree intake air and discharge. Then the customer had new tail lights installed and found one having the ground not connected and the other wired completely wrong, white to black and black to white and red to green. Needless to say I have another outstanding customer that wonts only my service.

Kenny I have a crane I made that attaches to my ladder which allows me to R&R ac units by myself. If interested I can send you pictures and measurements.
