I have been working on RVs for over 25 years. I thought it would be fun to shoot videos of me and other people repairing RVs. Disclaimer: These videos are for entertainment purposes only. Brand new 2024 Keystone RV Springdale 20' 1800BH. On our first RV trip. Fridge is full and it's not very cold. The freeze pops we brought from home are not longer frozen in the freeze tray on setting, 6. Putting in a thermometer now. Moving it from 6 to max, 7. I hope this unit works.
I need to replace my entire 20ft tube. This video is great for the switch end. What does the other end look like? Is it just a cap? Or is there a mechanical assembly on that end as well?
Great video. As a retired electronics technician (among other vocations) I have found that any chance you have to eliminate an unnecessary connection you should do so. If you don't need to regularly disconnect that circuit board, use good butt connectors or better yet solder and tape. I have solved many issues this way. BTW, a previous video of yours saved my a** on my RV furnace issue. I am eternally grateful that you have shared your awesome skills and experience for all. THANKYOU!
Kenny, You are amazing at finding issues! Some electrical information. 10.6 RLA (Running Load Amps) is what you were looking for. The 12.8 BCSC(Branch Circuit Selection Current) is for sizing the compressor conductors. I have never seen that on anything I worked on. And is not MCA (Minimum Circuit Amps)
Another Great Video, Kenny. Those intermittent problems can be a nightmare to solve. I hope you and your family had a safe and happy 4th of July Weekend.
you can recharge a roof mount ac with the same freon as in your home unit R410. cut the pig tail off and sweat a shrader vlv in the tube and recharge. do not use saddle clamps as they will eventually leak due to vibration.
I have run into this same issue a few times now when with A/C units. I have generally found the broken wires with in a couple if inches of the spade connectors or I find the break right where the factory stripped the outer jacket of the thermostat wires at the A/C unit as opposed to the thermostat. As always great video!
I have that exact thermostat on my Lance (Coleman Mach 3) and it works well. I spent 39+ years in the Telecommunications industry before retiring in 2021. Love your videos and commentary Kenny !
Kenny I have a crane I made that attaches to my ladder which allows me to R&R ac units by myself. If interested I can send you pictures and measurements.
Thank you again for this because it gives me something else to look forward to on mine. I messaged you two weeks ago about my brand new 15,000 dometic right out of the box doing almost the same thing other than mine will actually freeze up. I have good amp draw the inside is taped up good but it will just out of the blues ice up and stop cooling.
Kenny, I once chased a short in my semi truck engine for 3 weeks... ended up a 9 foot ground wire from the starter to alternator was green powder on top front side of engine... 3 ft from alternator connector.... Drove me bonkers on ecm's.... that wire had no slices or holes in it at all.. When I finally felt the soft spot and sliced it open..... green copper powder and totally corroded... Truck was 2years old at this time... 2$ wire cost me 3 weeks of lost revenue and downtime..
Had a short in my rear chassis harness in my pickup and didn’t know. Caught fire when the truck was parked for 14 hours. Computer does checks in the system and when this happened, truck burned. Totaled due to no available harnesses after 4 months.
I was told by a nice person that I had no tail lights on my van. Also had been noticing that the cruise control stopped working. Googled the symptoms and the fix was bad grounds in the tail light sockets. Replacing the sockets corrected both problems. Eventually the ground wire was used by both circuits. Very common failure.
Great job again, Kenny! Electrical demons in the circuitry is the craziest part of all fixes. With the invent of circuit boards that makes it even crazier. Luckily you found that bad connector. It happens all the time. Great persistence.
Fridge not cooling, trash it and get another. What a great idea Einstein. Your next video should be on "Iffn ya drank water, you won't git dehydrated".
Yesterday I pulled the vents off the outside of my truck camper and blew out the fins in the back of the refrigerator and blowed around on the fans and just kind of cleaned up in there it made a heck of a big difference I couldn't believe the dust that was on those fans being only a year old the fans haven't kicked on since and it stayed a lot cooler that's something to try it worked for me
Here's one for the ages, I am working on a TT 30 AMP and believe the owner plugged into a 220v home utility outlet and one wire of his cable was fried where the neutral likely found a 120v hot wire. I've changed the shore cable and his converter and put in two new batteries, (he had none) and I now have 12.5v from the batteries to the panel. The AC side of the panel is the issue. Power is at the 30 Amp RV feed receptacle and at the panel at the Main breaker It even has 120v as does the feed bar to the other breakers. Lean in and solve my problem or give me a hint, I lose the full 120v on the feed breaker if I turn on any other breaker and if any breaker is turned on, it only has 39v with minor variations. While the microwave lights up, it doesn't work, but neither does the AC or the newly installed converter. BTW My panel is identical to yours. I plan tomorrow to test continuity from the the neutral and ground at the receptacle to the panel and the condition of connections behind the panel. Thoughts? A partial short, a ground issue, the breakers may have all blown? I'll test those too.
Hi! mines just like this and it’s stiff - nothing up there blocking it like a nest. motor is HOT! what could this be? (previously the fan would squeal sometimes)
Power probe is a great diagnostic tool. To save money I ordered a Power Source ps100 ($89) for similar options. Hopefully it will be just as handy for troubleshooting electrical problems.
Is tere different motors for the slide? Do you need the motor number and number of revolutions it turns? Wiring harness and motor is available on Amazon, some after market ones too. I use a dry lube on my track and rollers. Must keep track clean of outside dirt and dust or binding may happen.
I've never had an RV with a slide out. But I have worked on a few and the all had a manual crank. Is a manual crank not on all slide-outs? Id think that should be mandatory. IMO
