We have a 5th wheel toyhauler with an onboard generator. We park in full hookup campgrounds, so to give the generator its monthly exercising, we run the generator to our next campground with the a/c on to put a load on the gen. The inside of the trailer is nice and cool when we arrive at the next destination. Also, you should mention when cleaning your a/c filters, don’t put them back in the a/c wet, make sure they are completely dry. When you add moisture to the system, you’re asking for a new set of problems. Thanks for your informative video.

I found the opposite to work in ours for some reason. Coming up on summer time in Missouri and had the vents closed and it was stifling, even tho we had it on all night. Opened the vents and now it’s been nice in here since 🤷🏻‍♀️ cold air blowing from the vents on the unit and from the other vents around the camper has made a nice air flow, and it’s 90 degrees outside with our camper in direct sunlight.

We have the wire mesh filters like in the video. Are they just as good as the cloth/cotton type filters or should I change them out? I know the mesh are nice because they can be washed off to keep clean.

I noticed that you don't talk about what happens when the fuse trips. I'm out in the middle of the Sun and just keep tripping that fuse, tripping all day long until it's about 9 at night. Then it cools the trailer down all night and then around 11 in the morning when it starts getting hot out again, it starts playing those games...😬

I didn't know about always keeping it closed so that's helpful! Ours in our main room has been opened so long it's collected dust in those slats and we can't figure out to clean it out. Any advice??

Great video. I did as you requested and it was cold after returning and the next day we went out to lunch and when we returned.....nothing but hot air. I checked the breaker, fuse and everything is good, but no cold air.....WTF I have had this unit out for only a few days and this happens....please advise

AC works fine but sweats and drips water on floor . Could this be coming from a frozen coil ?

Mine was icing over. Improper air flow across the evaporator coils. Why? I could actually reach my hand between the supply and return on the air conditioner. Covered that opening up with HVAC tape and now it cools like it should. It's a furrionn ac unit ss well.

I have a heartland prowler I’m not sure what year but the thermostat is a Colman Mach and I was wondering if the ac have to run on propane or if it will work just being plugged in never had a camper and just wanna know if I have to have propane or just electric

Nope A/Cs are powered typically by 120 Volts nothing in the LP market yet. Some new very expensive 12 and 24 volt stuff -JR

You are so interesting and with some comical side too LOL....I recently purchased my first (used-)-2009 Keystone Ultra Lite Outback ...I can't seem to push the AC breaker to stay on position..and the inside AC vent ( filter) cover keeps falling out....???any suggestions?? I haven't been able to run the AC since I got it back in May... I am using fans..to push hot air out. ...HELP !!(LOL)

Hi there!! We have a Coachmen Catalina Sentara 2013 t.t. we just recently discovered our air conditioning is not turning running. I understand the whole turn it down to 65 and come back a few hours later. Also check and clean air filters and leave blinds and doors closed. And leave the ac on High. However, if I do this which will be tomorrow since now it is late, 10pm at night and the air STILL does NOT come one, what else am I supposed to look for? All my other electronic stuff turns on and works. It was working fine except we were dropping a lot of condensation from it the other weekend when it was super hot. Could it have froze up? But it would have thawed out by now but still not working. Thank you

I have a 2006 Keystone Challenger fifth wheel. It has a Coleman airconditioner that had an Infrared remote. The remote broke and cannot be replaced now. Do I need to replace the control box and put in a wall thermostat? If so, what do I need to buy and how do I do the wiring through the walls (Iam new to this). Thank you. RCB

I would start by checking vents and ducts for blockage if it is a new problem Existing problem from new start at ac JR

I am a new long-term ER in an RV park in Pensacola Florida. I have a 2016 Keystone Premier bullet. My thermostat just has a choice of cool. Then you said it to your temperature. I am in an open space, no shade. Just moved here and currently is in the low 80s. I have the shades down during the day. I bought an inside thermostat. I have my air conditioner set to 74. Cannot seem to get the temperature inside down below 81. My air conditioner runs non-stop I'm afraid it's going to break down. I Am brand new to rving so I'm trying to figure all this out. Is this RV just not meant to live in long-term? It is just getting down into the 50s at night so now I have to figure out how to turn the heat on and maintain a temperature

Not sure what Keystone Bullet is using but I would say something is going wrong. I would get it looked at by a local RV mechanic

I just purchased a 2022 travel trailer that has never been used. I have been living in it for about 3 weeks and the unit is now making a weird noise when its shutting down. What could be the problem?

It’s likely the compressor shutting down. Normal as far as I can tell… but, I don’t know what you mean by “weird noise”.

I have a question. In our class A coach, we have two A/Cs. With the doors closed, shades down and windshield covered. It only gets hotter during the day. A/C will be set at 69 and 70 and even if we’re gone for hours, we’ll come back and it’s hotter than when we left. At night it works fine though. Why is this?

Hey! I have a 2022 cameo with 2 A/C as well. I am having the same problem. Turns out that there isn’t enough airflow to the circular vents because the duct was not cut out all the way so that was blocking the vents from putting out all the pressure. I am actually watching this video right now so that I can open the A/C and cut open the duct haha. Hope this helped!

Would need to know more like what is the temp outside and what brand ACs are on the unit. Whats the power look like going to it? Are the filters clean. Whats the temp coming out of the vents vs going in?

Can you help me? I bought a summer land 2104 bunkhouse . The ac blows cold but not a hard force of air is coming out. Also the unit in ceiling has a switch to turn in ac and the thermostat on wall is only for heat? I’ve never had ac unit like this in any of my campers. Is it just a crappy unit? I also feel like there aren t many air vents in the ceiling

The ceiling pack controls are for the the ac. Wall unit is for heat only it looks like. It is not a product we stock so I can not be sure but that's what it looks like. I typically don't see an issue with units like that as far as power to blow air so you might have an issue. Have you had it in for warranty to check it? -JR

If you're in the deep south and your camper is 30+ ft long you best have a 50 amp 2 ac unit coach. Otherwise frustration will be the word of the day on a 90 degree humid day.

I normally do 67 on hot days. My camper over the hottest days this summer did struggle to stay below 75. Bodies and doors opened and closed -JR

@@KeystoneRVCenter Our doors do you stay close most the day we go to work for 8 to 10 hours then come home and we came home a few days ago and there was water coming out of one of the light fixtures so I took the light fixture down and looked in there all the insulation was soaking wet I pulled it out and the duck was sweating really bad dried it all up in the next day it started sweating again and no it was not raining and this is in the ceiling

Thank you for your videos! Please keep making them! We are now full time living in our 2016 Keystone Raptor and we’ve been having trouble keeping our rig cooled. We’ve noticed in ours only 2 units work at a time. Does each zone have an individual thermostat? And where are they located? Sometimes the main living area and the garage don’t even turn on even in 80 degrees.... if the AC unit has been running for too long trying to cool an area do they have an automatic shut off? Thank you again for your videos they’ve definitely helped us on more than one occasion!

Water occurs in your air conditioner unit naturally. To create cold air, the AC unit sucks in hot and humid air and blows it over a cooled coil called the evaporator coil. As the air passes over the evaporator coil, the humidity builds condensation on the coil, and that creates water in the AC unit. -JR

Cleaning of the fins by someone with experience. Do not try to learn how to do it on your Roof ac. They can take 6 months or longer to get a new one right now. -JR

Power to thermostat. Power to control module. No power from control module to AC. Even replaced the control module and still have the same issue.

Keep them closed so it forces the cold air through the entire camper. Not just the area by the AC

@@RachelsDestiny same here in my Class C. I live in FL and it actually feels more humid in here since closing the 2 vents. I just closed one vent and left the other one open for now until I can research more and I can already feel the temperature difference being cooler. Also I've seen on other reputable videos that recommend keeping the flow on low and not high. Is this because it's a fifth wheel or a travel trailer. I'm so confused!! ugh

bought a brand new 2021 Hideout, I have to say its build quality is beyond poor. AC doesn't work even with shore power. Glue is coming off the walls, Just terrible over all unit.

Do not disagree. Thats why we sell Jayco and Forest River Units. We are in Pennsylvania the Keystone State. We had the name Keystone RV before they did -JR
