Test time: 1st Wednesday of the month at noon (under normal circumstances)
Enthusiasts present: Tommy (@buckeyenotifications), Dominic & Jeremy (@SuperSirex127)
After the system-wide FSK failure in Clermont on the first Wednesday, we saw on their Facebook EMA page that they'd be retesting the following week, so of course, we had to seize the opportunity. We decided to meet with Dominic and Jeremy at the Locust Corner P-15 since Tommy still hadn't heard it in person and I wanted a more clear shot of it. When I was last here about 2 years ago, it wound up a bit slower than usual and peaked at a slightly lower pitch. This time around, however, it wound up lightning fast just as it should and peaked at its proper pitch again. It seems to wind up slower when it's running on the generator next to it, which leads me to believe it's getting 480 volts from the main power, while the generator isn't supplying quite as much power as it usually gets.
I'm not sure if I had just forgotten how loud this was, or if it was because of the slight increase in speed, but I swear this thing seemed a tad bit louder than it did last time I was here. I'd say it's probably about on par with Batavia's Allertor, but it's a bit more shrill. Much like last time, however, I barely felt the vibrations from this thing, even when standing on a bit on an incline. In fact, this one probably shook me the least out of all the 9/12 ACA sirens I've been to. Despite that, it did manage to hit 120.2 dBC on my meter. Anyway, I'd say this video turned out pretty good, and I'm glad we were able to still catch a Clermont test this month despite their issues the week prior to this. Enjoy!
