That nipple on the landing gear is actually how the strut is in real life. That’s the part of the gear that is rotated (I think there has to be gear teeth or splines on it) to extend and retract the gear. This wheels do look weird, other than being flat. The hubs on the real thing look way different. I’ll be posting as I find issues with the kit.

But the kit looks great and certainly worth adding to my stash. Thanks! FYI, the ailerons you were talking about look more like flaps to me, which is why they would normally operate in unison.
They seem to be headed in that direction...this Zero and now the A10, which is pretty darn neat too. I love the way they designed the fuselage and engine fittings and especially the modular fuselage.
