First, at the time of this video capturing, NJ Transit wasn’t running anything earlier than a 2003-2004. So definitely not a 2001 in the mix here. Second, there isn’t one single D4500CT in this video. They’re all D4500CL. And I’m still not too sure how you can tell a CNG/Hybrid from a diesel powered coach if it doesn’t say so in the rear.

7200s and 7300s are are D4500CTs, D4500CL are only the 7100 series and 9000 series. The CNGS have a diamond CNG emblem on the front rear and side and hybrids are only the 4000 series 4008-4044. At the time of this recording 2000 models 102-DW3SS 7501-7503 were in service, which were 3 demos njt got.

@@BottomLin3Op first let me say I really appreciate and love this awesome video capture. I sit in front of my big screen HD and turn up the surround subs and I’m in motorcoach heaven! So please keep them coming in a safe and healthy way. Now, I’ve seen transit buses marked in the rear as being CNG but not see any diamond shaped CNG decal anywhere in the video. However I do have to stand corrected based on the fact there’s no side diesel fuel cap doors visible on any of the 2008-2017 D4500CL in this video. Also your obviously going by some published invoice itinerary. Those are to satisfy public news media inquiries early on during order proposals and almost never end up that way for various expected and unforeseen reasons. If you’re qualifying CNG as the sole criterion of the CT designation, then there’s your problem. According to MCI the drivetrain dose not constitute their coaches as being CT or CL. It’s the outside aesthetics: frameless/framed windows, smooth/fluted stainless steel sides and G series touring headlight housing/ D series commuter headlight housing (doesn’t matter if they’re all led or not - its the headlight housing that determines). Now to make matters more confusing. NJT fluted stainless steel sides are now actually a custom spec, while smooth side are MCI’s standard for all their coaches now. And you can still order a DDiesel 13 or 15 with CT styling or the CL styling. Or with a Cummins Isx12 or IsX12N (CNG). I thought it was federal law to display vividly on commercial vehicles as their being CNG powered. Just because you’ve read that a certain range of bus unit numbers are specked as thus and so does not translate to what you see with your naked eyes. So yes I now believe the Academy bus is CNG but it’s windows, headlight housing and fender flares give it away as being a CL (classic look). What I mean by that is according to MCI and not according to NJT. The “CT” and “CL” designations only has to do with just the looks.

The reason the Academy bus is waiting around the bend is because the driver can see from a giant convex mirror up in the corner of the wall and ceiling, that the three NJT buses white reverse lights are on indicating the want to back out. Plus the Academy bus shares a gate with the second from the right bus that’s backing out.

Freaking awesome man! And MCI never-ever stepped backwards in progress. Upon a rare and privileged weekend visit to the MCI Pembina, ND assembly plant, I was told they are in fact phasing out the long traditional stock aluminum skins...but relegating it to custom speced order only. But besides, these DL4500's are commuter coaches, speced to be sturdier rugged by the respective transit carriers since as far back into 60's. MCI have their J4500's for that classy pretty girl look...and how dare you even compare MCI to a VanFool (sorry but never liked those early rectangular box buses). VanHool is biting off the MCI and Prevost "NY look" now. So next time compare touring coach seamless Windows to touring coach seamless Windows, lol much love though bro.

I like to know why MCI is stepping backward with their new fleet? Back to seamed windows and Aluminum quarter panels? This is dated which makes Vanhool CX45 very classy looking to the eyes!

CleanteamofNY they have diff models for diff needs. Still better than vanhool any day tho

VanHool makes tea for the European market, MCI owns North America. VanHools always looked freaking boxy with no style. Only thing rocking with VH is their double deckers. MCI never stepped back or stopped offering seamed windows and fluted stainless steel sides. If NJ Transit wants to keep going back and forth on the different styles MCI has to offer, then that’s on NJT not MCI.

@@marvinjgerald6007 You are right about who buy these types of equipment, the framed glass is a way of cutting costs but durability is still there for a schedule line run system. So looks do not matter where the bottom line counts. Frameless glass may tack on an extra $7-15,000 per vehicle.

@@CleanteamofNY per a MCI assembly shift supervisor: the fluted stainless steel sides are now for special/custom orders (like the NJT) accounts. It’s been the stock/standard to roll out the smooth sides. Seamless framed windows are not more expensive because they still have frames, just unnoticeable from the outside. It’s part of the CT (contemporary) package style option, as opposed to the CL (Classic) standard style. Looks do so matter and a lot. In the bus world it’s called “curb appeal”. Why do you think commuter transit agencies all over are opting for the D series of coaches? Yes durability but also good looks. Van Hool used to be so lost and without style with those early literally rectangle box buses. But they’ve come a long way with the euromerican styled TD925. The Prevost HD45 and MCI J4500 still carry the best curb appeal imho.
