"Captain America: Civil War" discussion with directors Joe and Anthony Russo, and writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely on May 7, 2016 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
I know the Academy never honors "superhero films" with anything beyond visual effects and sound nominations, but Civil War is such an achievement and such a human story, irregardless of its costumed heroes and mass genre appeal... Screenplay, supporting actor RDJ or Chadwick, DIRECTOR... there is SO MUCH sophisticated craftsmanship that went into pulling off this absurdly tall order of a movie that it really deserves to at least get an Oscar nomination for if not a win.
+DoctorWho50th It makes sense though, to have them kiss and make-up would make the previous 2 hours of movie feel worthless. The fact the movie ends with conflict still present is what I love, it lingers long after you leave the theatre.
AMAZING!!!... Oscars actually pay attention to this movie. This is just GREAT, and also I like how this movie is a Psychology Thriller. Russo Bros really changed the MCU since Winter Soldier. Just OUTSTANDING - Eddy OUT!!!
+Dominic It will not be, just because of the demographics of the Academy. I really want it will be nominated for Best Screenplay because the writing was incredibly meticulous.
Bhargav Tata I think it might, only 5% of the Academy needs to vote for it as their favourite film of the year. Its not a guarantee but maybe their demo is changing enough that it might squeeze in
I sincerely hope it can get in the race for Best Picture. It may be under the superhero genre, but there's a lot more going on: It's about themes of government and surveillance that are present to this day.
I mean,i Know it's not an holocaust film or a biopic.I know that none of the actors gave an oscar worthy performance and it's commercial pornography but good god, this film made so happy to so many adults and children. The direction was so fascinating.
Winter Soldier was 2nd Captain America movie, not the first. Who is this guy interviewing? Do your homework before interviewing filmmakers, gosh (Napoleon Dynamite voice)
I don't think this film won't be nominated for any catagory, maybe visual effects, but not Screenplay, Director, Cinematography, Score, Movie Of The Year. Just Visual Effects
