Friedman BE & Peavey 6505 vs AMP1 Mercury and Iridium Edition !
In this episode we explore the diverse landscape of high-gain guitar tones that are used in many different styles from classic rock leads to hair metal riffs and modern metal chugs.
We'll be comparing two heavyweight amplifiers in the high-gain arena: the iconic Friedman BE and the legendary Peavey 5150/6505. Thomas will dissect the technical architecture of these amps, unraveling the secrets behind their signature tones. He'll showcase their versatility across various musical styles and highlight their unique qualities.
But that's not all - we'll also put Thomas's own creations, the AMP1 Mercury and Iridium Editions, to the test. Thomas will demonstrate how these compact powerhouses stack up against the high-gain titans, providing insights into which AMP1 model suits different high-gain tones best.
With a selection of classic guitars and pedals at his disposal, Thomas will craft a range of high-gain tones, from searing solos to bone-crushing riffs for Rock and Metal.
We can expect a lot of A/B testing comparing these well known classic high giants by Friedman and Peavey vs AMP1 Mercury and Iridium edition.

Thanks for watching! I hope you could take away some aspects on how I approach high-gain sounds. As we could see there are many different qualities we are looking for, and there’s no „one fits all“ solution… So we all end up searching for the perfect tone, with a certain tightness, mids-structure, bite and sizzle. It’s a very personal decision what we like, and since high-gain produces so much overtones we react quite sensitive to it… I hope you can find some great high-gain sound for you! Cheers, Thomas

I'm beyond happy with my Iridium. It completely retired my 6505+. The Iridium is beyond tighter, and the tone versatility is everything I want and more. Now, if you're someone who doesn't like playing around with knobs to get exactly what you want, Bluamps probably not what you're looking for.

The BluGuitar AMP1 offer a lot of options. We don’t mind when you dial in „your Tone“ and tape the controls - kind of set and forget-especially those custom controls on the side…😊
@coreydishmon
@coreydishmon 4 месяца назад
@BluGuitar Absolutely, it doesn't take long to obtain it. Although wish I could extend the custom control knobs a little so I can adjust them on the floor. Kinda have to crouch and turn it on its sides to do exactly that. Besides that, it's everything you want.

Same feeling with my Mercury. Can't get enough. Marshall tones galore. The modern channel adds a little Soldanoish or some metal amp I've never heard, but love it.

Love the Iridium, it may appear a bit over the top for the general public but you can tweak it and it’s very versatile, besides the dirty channels, I love the clean channel with enough power amp push and a good compressor in front.

I’ve been taking it to shows instead of my Marshall head. I do not miss taking the Marshall out one bit. The Iridium tone kills.

I absolutely love Thomas' videos. Here is my question. I play 2204 1983 model (slightly moded by Jason Tong who added Jose Arredondo clipping and FET boost). It has a very good dynamic. After I find my sweet spot on preamp gain (depends on pickups), and power amp (using attenuator) then I can control responsiveness and the hair of the tone literally with the way I play with my right hand, and left too of course. And with my guitar pot, I can go from a clean-ish bluesy tone up to explosive EVH. So I would say, the dynamic response of an amp is the most important factor for me. Unfortunately, I can't find any satisfying videos that would be helpful for me to see if Iridium can be a good choice for my style.

I wish I could do an A/B test with your amp vs the iridium, as this would tell you and me more about it. I would like to offer that we send you an Iridium as a loaner if you do that A/B test and video it…;-) At this point I’m just very confident that we both are looking for the same goals: dynamic and richness in any position of the volume pot on the guitar. Cheers, Thomas Blug

@BluGuitar
@BluGuitar Месяц назад
