Treble (triple) damages are available in antitrust cases. FSU lost ~ $30 million per year for multiple years because of Swofford's self-dealing and chicanery and the ACC's anticompetitive behavior. ACC has real exposure here.

GOR always confused me until recently, its claim to fame is not a brilliant, iron clad legal agreement, its the invention of media rights being something you can own or sell! no where is it defined as a right to sell your sports to broadcast. given its a sport, you need at least one party to agree which means a home and then away game, given sports reciprocity is key feature of rivalries and fan interest. and you need a media partner to agree its worth it, (in our case and ND's to have value, you must he IN ncaa, fbs power...5,4,3,2 super league, competitive, history, and their allowance of independents to schedule freely) the "media right" is negotiated in the contract which determines distribution, access, and most importantly who owns the copyright of the game the second it starts filming. thats it, it cant be definied as home games bc there is a playoff now with home games, it cant be defined as only home games either as how do they get money from off site ganes like lsu/ga tech? for anyone to use media rights as home games, please dont act like your media value is not determined by all games and you play home and away, The FBS isnt a league so its the only way to easily split the money and for laweyers to point at standards that need to he upheld. you think the espn contract the acc enforces home games? i mean its already a stipulation of being in the fbs and acc.... what changed? media rights must be voluntary agreements with exit penalties of 1-3 years. i think 2 is fair. scheduling is a nightmare especially now. they should all share in the money from the annoyance.

FSU and Clemson are thinking strategic by pushing to get out of the ACC sooner rather than later. That conference is like the Titanic, and the BIG10 is their lifeline to a safe habor.
